Zău is the official title of a brand new and last album from Romanian metal legends Negură Bunget (disbanded in 2017), ready to be released on November 12 as Digi CD, CD/DVD artbook and on vinyl. The final part of the "Transylvanian trilogy" was hanging by a thread when creative mastermind Gabriel "Negru" Mafa died on March 21, 2017 - yet his drum tracks had already been recorded before the band's final tour. All the sketches, demos, and rehearsal room recordings that they had been working on were gathered, and each member respectfully filled in the gaps in utter dedication to the original idea. Last year's sudden and tragic death of Negură Bunget founder and drummer, Gabriel "Negru" Mafa, left the band without any founding members. And even though the rest of the members decided to form a new band, Sur Austru, it seems like the Transilvanian Trilogy, started with Tău and Zi, will be finished. It will contain Negru's final drum recordings and contributions from his bandmates from the latest album.

With the death of Gabriel "Negru" Mafa last year, few had hopes that Negură Bunget would continue in any way. Surviving members of the band's last lineup have decided however to form a new band in the spirit of the fallen band, under the name Sur Austru.

The band will perform its debut show at DET Open Air in Bucharest, organized and headlined by Bucovina. The band will premiere songs which will appear on the band's upcoming debut album, as well as some songs written under Negură Bunget.

The band's members which have been part of Negură Bunget in the past are: Stefan Zaharescu (vocals), Tibor Kati (vocals/guitars/keyboards), Ovidiu Corodan (bass) and Petrica Ionutescu (traditional instruments). Joining them are Corodan and Kati's Grimegod colleagues, Mihai Florea (guitars) and Hoit (guitars); and Sergiu Nabadan (drums).

Tibor Kati, the guitarist and lead singer of the Romanian band Negură Bunget, announced recently that Gabriel "Negru" Mafa, the founding member and the drummer of the band, passed away yesterday, 21.03.2017. He was 42. The main reasons of his tragic and sudden death remain unknown.

Negură Bunget have released a new video for one of the songs on their latest opus, Tău. The song is called "La Hotaru Cu Cinci Culmi" and you can watch the video below. The video drops just in time for the start of their North American tour. However, their singer Tibor Kati was denied the US visa and so drummer Gabriel Mafa/Negru and bass player Ovidiu Corodan are taking partly charge of vocal duties, with the help of fellow tour partners Dynfari stepping up as well.

Negură Bunget are currently in an extensive European trek to promote their new album Tău but they have had to face some setbacks along the way. After their gig in Sofia, Bulgaria, their van was broken into and they stole a lot of equipment including laptops, iPads and in-ear monitoring. Despite the equipment stolen, Negură Bunget still managed to pull through all the difficulties, making it to the shows.
