Wintersun - Upcoming Album Frustrations

Kai Hahto, drummer of Wintersun, has posted the following album update on their message board:

"Hey Everybody,

I'm making a little statement where we are at the moment. We're having a lot of problems with our computer at the moment. This resuslts in much frustration and also kills the inspiritation, because we cannot work as we want to and for example one wrong note can cause a whole days work. So the situation is now this. We are finished with everything else except the vocals and synths. We are talking about more orchestral stuff with layers on top of each other, and some songs have some cool choirs!

People, please understand that the scale for this album is much bigger than the first one. I love the first one too, but you can't compare these two at all.

One thing you should also know: When the album is ready mixed and mastered Nuclear Blast will need 3 months to promote it before it's out. It's a huge company and it has it's own ways of working. But let's think this way, we die someday but the music lives on after we have left. And that is just what music should be. Jari has the vision as only he knows and he can't give up until the album is ready but he wants to make sure that he is happy with it before leaving it to you... to listen. Thank you for the patience and we'll keep you informed!"

The full statement can be read here.

Dream Evil - Update From The Band

The following message was posted on the official website of Swedish Power metallers Dream Evil:

"Finally we've got a new webmaster and our new site is up and running as you all can see. It's been totally quiet in the news section for a wile, we're sorry about that! We are not dead, only lazy old farts.

So what happened in the Dream Evil camp the last six months?
For family reasons our lead guitarist Mark Black unfortunately left the band and we now have a new (hairy & scary) axe swinger called Dannee Demon .

Dream Evil will release a cd with some new songs and some old songs (which earlier only have been released as bonus tracks in Japan) combined with a live DVD recorded November 25:th 2006 in Sticky Fingers in Gothenburg. The preliminary release date is now set to March - April 2008. The album will be called "Gold Medal in Metal".

We are all working in our metal factories on making new splendid unbloody serious farmer metal anthems that hopefully will show up on our next studio album.

We also hope that the "upcoming live shows"-section on this site will be filled with gigs in a near future near You."

Kreator - Upcoming Album And DVD Details

Following their truly global "Enemy Of God" World Tour, Thrash gods Kreator will be parking the steamrollers for a while and taking a creative break in 2008 to concentrate on writing new material and recording their next album. Live activity for the band in 2008 will only be sporadic, consisting primarily of selected festival appearances. Kreator's next album is currently scheduled for release in January of 2009, to be followed by an extensive world tour later in the year.

To make the long wait a little less painful for Kreator fans, March of 2008 sees the re-release on DVD of "Live In East Berlin" and "Hallucinative Comas", both re-edited and previously only available on VHS video cassette. The DVD release goes out under the title "At The Pulse Of Kapitulation - Live In East Berlin 1990".

Here are a few of frontman Mille Petrozza's comments:

"Right now, it's time for us to recharge our batteries and write some new songs. A little like the creature in 'Alien', several ideas for the next album have been brooding inside me for a while and now they're ready to burst out of my chest and take the Kreator story to the next level. Musically, the whole concept will be very brutal and melodic! At the moment there are 10 basic ideas and fragments for new songs. Starting in January of 2008, the band will get together in Essen to start working out arrangements for the new stuff.

Over the years, I've met lots of people in and around Berlin who's first Metal experience ever was the concert we did there in the early 90's at the Werner Seelenbinder Halle. The new DVD features some of these people in recent interviews, and there are also some original quotes from back then. Words don't do justice to the energy that was in the air that day in East Berlin, and the whole event can only be described as utterly unique and historic.

I'd like to say 'Thanks!' at this point to all the promoters and fans who made it possible! The legion of Kreator supporters is growing all the time, and you made 2007 a very exciting year for us in the band."

Up until now this legendary concert was only available as a VHS video with less-than-ideal sound quality, but is now for the first time carefully digitalized and upgraded to today's standards, while retaining its original charm. The DVD also contains the "Hallucinative Coma" video from 1991. Original director Andreas Marshall has personally re-edited his own 'Director's Cut', featuring never-seen-before scenes that the censors just couldn't stomach back in the day.

Firewind - Update From Band

The following message was posted on Firewind's website by guitarists Gus G.:

"Looking back on 2007 now I can say that I'm very happy with what we've accomplished with Firewind. We toured heavily for the "Allegiance" album and our world tour passed thru 22 countries and we did about 100 shows to promote it. We had great times touring with some of metal's premier bands such as DragonForce, All That Remains, Angra, Kamelot, Sonata Arctica, etc. through Europe, UK, North America and Japan. We even got to play in Tunisia for the first time!

After a successful Japan tour this October we're finally wrapping up our World Allegiance tour with two final festivals in Europe - one in Spain (Senderos Del Rock) and one in Denmark (Prog Power Scandinavia).

But you know, they say: no rest for the wicked! We're going back in the studio at the end of this year to record our brand new album and I can't tell you how excited we are. It really feels like it's time to record and play some new music! We wrote a bunch of material already and we're soon entering Sweden's Studio Fredman to record our fifth album. No album title yet, but here are some of the new song titles: Remembered, Life Foreclosed, The Silent Code, Mercenary Man, My Loneliness, Head Up High.

More info to come soon! Cheers, Gus."

The new album is expected to surface via Century Media Records in Spring 2008 and Firewind have just announced their first European tour to promote the new material for April/May 2008 when they will hit stages with Kamelot and support act Visions Of Atlantis.
