Sentenced - Book Out In September
To be published next September, "Agony Walk - On the road with Sentenced" is a unique 100-page picture book about a band that loved playing shows but hated touring. Drummer Vesa Ranta captured the daily life of his group into photos during the years 1995-2003 when the band was most actively touring the world. The pictures of the book illustrate the group's tale and allow the viewer to witness situations that the fans were otherwise unable to see.

Phil Rudd, drummer of AC/DC, now has an official sentence for threatening to kill and drug possession charges. While not being sentenced to jail, he must serve eight months of home detention. Judge Ingram told Rudd he would end up behind bars if he breached any of the conditions of his sentence, which includes 24-hour monitoring at his waterfront home.

Tim Lambesis - Sentenced To 6 Years In Prison
As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has been sentenced to six years in prison in a San Diego Superior Courtroom for attempting to hire a hit man to kill his wife. In February, the singer pleaded guilty to soliciting an undercover cop to murder Meggan Lambesis, whom he had married eight years prior and adopted three children with. At the time, he faced up to nine years in prison. According to Radio.com, the verdict was handed down as more than three dozen people, out of the 80-plus spectators present, wore yellow felt hearts in support of Meggan Lambesis. Three of Lambesis' bandmates - Nick Hipa, Phil Sgrosso and Josh Gilbert - were present at the sentencing.

The Man-Eating Tree - New Project Of Ex-Sentenced Drummer
The Man-Eating Tree, the new atmospheric metal band featuring ex-Sentenced drummer Vesa Ranta alongside current/former members of Poisonblack, Reflexion and Embraze, have entered Mastervox Studio in Oulu, Finland to begin recording its debut album with producer Hiili Hiilesmaa (Him, Sentenced, Amorphis).
According to the group's official bio, The Man-Eating Tree was formed when "Vesa Ranta, having taken a break from music after Sentenced, began to overcome his post-Sentenced battle fatigue and lack of musical motivation. The idea of a new band - or bands - was eventually brainstormed over a period of time between Vesa and his friends, including gentlemen Miika Tenkula, Aaron Rantonen, Janne Markus (guitar, Poisonblack) and Mikko Uusimaa. Plans were made reality in 2009; the outfit was completed by the addition of Tuomas Tuominen (Fall Of The Leafe) as a vocalist and Heidi Määttä (Embraze) as a keyboard player. First demo recordings were made in the spring and summer of 2009.
Vocalist Tuomas Tuominen states: "Most of the instrument tracks will be recorded here in wintry Oulu. I will lay down the vocals in the later half of the month there in the South."
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include:
* Lathing A Good Man
* Contractor
* King Of July In The Kingdom Of Winter
* The Eastern Part Of Sleep
* Free Of Shadows
* The Forecast
* Out Of The Wind
* The Forge Of Hope
* Of Birth And Passing

Sentenced - Guitarist Dies At Age 34
Finnish newspapers and Blabbermouth.net are reporting that Miika Tenkula, former lead guitarist and main songwriter of the acclaimed Finnish band Sentenced, was found dead at his home earlier yesterday (Thursday, February 19). He was 34 years old. Miika Tenkula was also the band's original vocalist from 1989 to late 1992.
Nalle Österman (Gandalf, Lullacry, Chaosbreed) tells Blabbermouth.net, "It's true, confirmed personally by Sentenced] drummer Vesa Ranta. The fact remains that Miika had a serious drinking problem for many years which escalated after Sentenced was buried. They don't call it King Alcohol for nothing... The metal scene in Finland mourns now for one of the most talented metal guitarists to ever emerge from ."

Sentenced Will Disband!!!
We'd better put this out in the open before you hear it somewhere else.
The title of the new album is "The Funeral Album", and with it we, SENTENCED, are coming to the end of our road. This album will be our last one.
The decision is mutual, thoroughly thought over and final.
Metaphorically speaking, this is a mass suicide of 5, and the new album is the kind of note we want to leave behind. One last time around for good-byes.
The decision was made during 2004. The reasons are many, and I don't feel any need to go into details here. I will say however, that everyone will walk away as friends. In my eyes we are even not splitting up, but ending our recording career together. And there is major difference between those two. Our wish was always to go out with style and at the peak of our so called success. I think with "The Funeral Album" we will do exactly that.
Once the album is released, there will be an undefined number of farewell shows. When, where and how many, those are questions that at this point remain open. Intense and long touring, however, will unfortunately not follow, and most of these shows will take place on festivals where we can reach as much people as possible at one time. At the moment it seems that all of these funeral shows will be in Europe.
If everything goes as planned, we will also make a live-DVD out of those last shows and include a lot of stuff from the past on it. Not to mention all the music-videos we have done during the years. The working title for the DVD is "Buried Alive".
After that SENTENCED is no more.
And: THIS IS IT. There will not be a re-union, come-back, or any other pathetic and soap-operish circus that seems to be in fashion these days. SENTENCED will rest in peace.
We will make the most out of the band's last year, and hope you will all join us.
See you on the last run.

Sentenced - New Album Finished
After spending about 2 months in different studios the new album is finally finished. Its total running time is 49:53 and the following titles are included:
1. May Today Become the Day
2. Ever-Frost
3. We Are But Falling Leaves
4. Her Last 5 Minutes
5. Where Waters Fall Frozen
6. Despair-Ridden Hearts
7. Vengeance Is Mine
8. A Long Way To Nowhere
9. Consider Us Dead
10. Lower The Flags
11. Drain Me
12. Karu
13. End Of The Road.
The album was recorded mainly at Finnvox and Tonebox studios (both in Finland), and mixed & mastered at Finnvox. The man on the producer chair was again Hiili Hiilesmaa, who also produced our 2 previous albums "Crimson" and "The Cold White Light".
What you can expect is a variation of different kinds of songs, and for sure some surprises. In addition to the traditional instruments we used everything from scissors, zippers, compressed air and spoons to harmonicas and a children choir? but not to worry: as far as I understand anything anymore, we still have managed to maintain a sense of style.
The general feel and overall sound are more aggressive than on our latest few albums, but there are also songs that are based more on emotion and atmosphere. Lyrical themes include death (surprise, surprise?), life, loss, love, unity, disappointment and revenge, but only to start with. Overall there's perhaps more depth in the lyrics, as well as in the music, than ever before. I think some, if not all songs will definitely take a dozen spins before fully "opening" to the listener.
Well, enough words. This was the most intense, stressful, emotional and rewarding album session I have ever gone through. We are proud of what we have done and eager to hand it over to you for listening. That will be in April.
Until then, take care.

Sentenced - No New Album Until 2005
Finland's SENTENCED have announced plans to play a few European festivals during the summer, including Summer Breeze, which is set to take place August 19-12, 2004 in Abtsgmünd, Germany.
"We will throw in some brand-new stuff during our show this summer, because we don't want to play a 'best of SENTENCED' kind of set this time around. That would be too boring," drummer Vesa Ranta said.
The band are currently writing and rehearsing the new material.
"We haven't worked on too many new songs yet as a band, but I know that Miika , Sami and Ville have written lots of new material . We are now rehearsing at a small studio and it's a very good place to build new songs.
"We are going to enter the studio next autumn, so I guess that the new album will arrive in the beginning of the next year. But it's up to record company of course...
"I guess it will take about two months to record the new album... It's a lot longer than it used to take during the old days when we used to record albums in a week... For example, it only took ten days to make 'North From Here'," Ranta laughed.
