Masterplan - Vocalist Jørn Lande Leaves

German power metallers Masterplan parted ways with their singer Jørn Lande due to musical differences. The statement of their label AFM Records reads as follows:

Sometimes ways can separate from each other: due to musical differences singer Jorn Lande has left Masterplan last week. During working on the new album the band had to experience that both sides were having different ideas and wishes for the songwriting. While Jorn would have loved to push the style of the band more into the melodic direction, the rest of the band wanted to go back to the metal-roots of the debut album. So the decision was made to go separate ways in the future.

Drummer Uli Kusch about it: "We are not really happy about Jorn's decision, but on the other side it doesn't make sense to continue if the ideas are that different. The music would suffer from it and the music is why we are doing it. We wish Jorn a successful future and want to thank him for everything he did for us. It was a great and interesting time!"

The band is currently searching for a new singer. "There are already some possibilities that might be interesting for us, but nothing is decided yet", Uli explains. "We hope that we can already present the new singer on the gigs we are playing this year. And for sure there won't be any changes in the musical style of Masterplan. We are currently working on the songs."

Hammerfall - Album Update

Hammerfall guitarist Oscar Dronjak has posted the following message on his official blog: "We have once again spent three days in the rehearsal room, playing through the now nine songs finished for the album. I can't remember feeling this good about the material before a recording, ever. Especially not for the last album, then I was very unsure about how things would turn out. This time, the feeling is the complete opposite.

Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Dark Wings, Dark Words", "Carved In Stone", "Titan", "Shadow Empire", "Threshold" and "Rebel Inside".

Aarni - End Collaboration With Firebox Records

The following message by Aarni was delivered via Newsletter:

"First off, a more or less important announcement: Aarni and Firebox Records have reached an agreement whereby Aarni's recording deal with the label will be discontinued after all. In other words Aarni is currently unsigned, yet not actively seeking a new recording deal. Collaboration with Firebox will however continue in the form of a distribution deal for the forthcoming album. This development likely won't affect Aarni's work on the new material in any way. Thanks go to Firebox boss Rami Hippi for originally being supersane enough to sign us and make the world a slightly more unnerving place.
Speaking of which, the recordings of the track 'Iku-Turso' have recently been completed and work begun on the next little new ditties. Currently I also occupy myself with a chaos guitar solo for Umbra Nihil's brilliant song destined for the Cthulhu music compilation album mentioned previously in these benighted newsletters.

The fan interview thing is still in process for a little while, so send in your questions! Thanks go to all you coy deviants who have already given me your crude yet sincere contributions!
So, there's still some time left for asking Aarni all those things your parents, spiritual gurus and other slavers cannot & won't tell you - unlike us they act out of ignorance, after all.
As all of you who have completed the questionnaire in the Bathos booklet already know, Aarni is really an illumination disorganisation with music set as just a convenient facade for our more important activities, destined to culminate sometime around Yule 2012 EV. So be good little hermaphrodites then, or the elves will look upon you with devastating disgust and take rash irreversible action, which ever was my intention. The Aarni star ark will set sail then to pastures greener and more separate in both time and space. Vibrate or die! Hail distant nebulae!"

Grave - New Album's Artwork & Track List Published

Legendary Swedish death metallers Grave have completed work on their new album, "As Rapture Comes", for a July 25 release via Century Media Records (one day earlier internationally).

Commented vocalist/guitarist Ola Lindgren: "The new album is finally completed. Nine tracks which can only be described as the most aggressive, evil and brutal stuff we have ever created both sound and song-wise. The album was recorded by ourselves at Studio Soulless and the final mix was made in the Abyss Studio with Peter Tägtgren. This one takes Grave into a new dimension while still staying true to our legacy of brutal, heavy death metal."

The artwork for "As Rapture Comes" was designed by the Polish artist Jacek Wisnieswki, who has previously worked with Grave on their "Back From The Grave" and "Fiendish Regression" albums, in addition to designing artwork for such acts as Krisiun, Vader and Decapitated, among others.

"As Rapture Comes" track listing:

01. Intro - Day Of Reckoning (0:49)
02. Burn (6:24)
03. Through Eternity (3:45)
04. By Demons Bred (4:16)
05. Living The Dead Behind (6:26)
06. Unholy Terror (3:44)
07. Battle Of Eden (3:38)
08. Epic Obliteration (4:02)
09. Them Bones (2:32)
10. As Rapture Comes (5:34)

To-Mera - Begin Recording Debut

May 5, 2006

...well, we start tomorrow, but we're pretty excited about it

Brett (Caldas-Lima - Mr producer man (add him here) will be winging his way from the slums of Montpellier to spritely Surbiton tomorrow. I shall hide all valuables as he will be staying at my place... (only joking Bretty-poos! )

First on the agenda will be recording a new violin solo for "Dreadful Angel" and then Brett, Julie and Tom will fly to Hungary to meet up with Akos and they'll then record all their bits. Then in the first week of June they all come back and Hugo and Lee will do their bits.

Songs so far include the two demo songs on the page (re-worked), plus "Parfum", "Blood" (working title. This may change!), "Realm of Dreams", "Phantoms", "Obscure Oblivion" plus a re-working of a traditional Hungarian folk song. About 50 minutes in total all going well.

We will be keeping things up to date with the blog, so if you need progress as it happens then subscribe or come back every couple of days and you'll see events as they unfold.

Cheers guys!
