Mayhem - First Part Of Documentary Online
The first part (out of five) of the sequel to the acclaimed Norwegian/Swedish documentary "Cult of Aggression", focusing on the Norwegian black metal pioneers Mayhem, has been posted on the band's official web site, for stream and download. Entitled "Pure Fucking Mayhem", the new documentary was financed by the film's director, Stefan Rydehed, and "will be shown at film festivals around the globe", according to Rydehed. "If any company wants to release it, they can contact me; otherwise it will be released through the Internet".
According to the director, "Pure Fucking Mayhem" covers Mayhem's history from the early days to the present day and it is a totally new documentary. Included in the film is a brand new interview with singer Attila Csihar, conducted on February 4th, 2007 at the infamous Shining gig in Halmstad, Sweden. "With the documentary there will also be a soundtrack for it - black metal songs played on piano", Rydehed says.
The original film, "Cult of Aggression", was released in 2002 and received its world premiere in 2004 at the Oslo Filmfestival, where it was shown twice.
"The first documentary about Mayhem, 'Cult of Aggression', was about their history - mainly about their music, but, of course, if a band has such a bloody history as Mayhem, you can't that out of the documentary", Rydehed previously states. "'Cult of Aggression' was mainly with Manheim and Necrobutcher but had a few parts about Dead when I used a voice-over and some folks who lived in Kråkstad when the band had their rehearsal / living place there. Gojira - Vocalist To Play Bass Duties On Cavalera Brothers' New Band

"Joe (vocals / guitar) of Gojira will play the bass on reunited Igor and Max Cavalera's new band recordings which album is to be released on Roadrunner later this year. Joe expressed his genuine enthusiasm in taking part of this to be much talked about project : ' Playing with Max and Igor is like living a dream, I 've always had so much respect for their musical achievements, it is an incredible personal experience for me ". The recording is taking place at Dirty Icon in L.A.with engineer Logan Mader and started on the 8th of July. Gojira recently shared stages with Slayer, Mastodon, Chimaera, Beastie Boys etc at the Hove and Roskilde festivals in Norway and Denmark respectively. Cynic - New Song Available For Download
A brand new song from the reunited progressive metallers Cynic, entitled 'Evolutionary Sleeper', has been made available for download at this location. The track was recorded live during the band's June 29, 2007 appearance at the Hovefestivalen in Arendal, Norway. Evergrey - Update
We just received these news items from the Evergrey camp and would like to pass them along to everyone.
As you all know, Fredrik Larsson was the temporary bass player after Michael left. Fredrik has now re-joined Hammerfall. The Evergrey crew wish him all the best in the future. He is still a good friend of the band.
New songs have been and are being recorded. Tom and Henrik are doing all the bass playing in the studio at this moment, so bass is not an issue at this time. Jonas and Rikard are also participating in writing lyrics and music for the new album. The recording session is scheduled to be done by the end of the summer.
The new album will be launched before Christmas. For all Fans out there, this album is HEAVY! In my ears probably the heaviest they have ever done.
After releasing the new album Evergrey will start touring. By that time a bass player should be selected for the band (hired or permanent, future will tell...).
There are also some new endorsement contracts being negotiated at this time. It's still too early to announce as of yet.
A new label is being sought after...more to come on that later.

Edenbridge - New Guitar Player And Drummer
After the departure of Roland Navratil at the end of March, Edenbridge has hired a new drummer, and in the same time a new guitar player.

"Edenbridge like to welcome Robert Schoenleitner and Sebastian Lanser as their 2 new members! Robert Schoenleitner already played guitar on Edenbridge´s last tour through England and Asia. Robert studied guitar at VGI institute Munich.

Textures - Parts Ways With Bassist, Temporary Replacement Annonced

Arch Enemy - New Album Info And Tour Dates

"Arch Enemy are pleased to announce they have completed work on their highly anticipated new album. The new masterpiece entitled "Rise Of The Tyrant" was recorded at Studio Fredman with Producer Fredrik Nordström and will be unleashed on the metal world on September 24th, 2007.
Arch Enemy mastermind Michael Amott comments on the new album and the upcoming touring activities as follows:
"To all Arch Enemy fans!
So how does it sound, you ask? Well, I am of the opinion that we have made the 'ultimate Arch Enemy album'!!! To me, this album sounds like the perfect mix of melody and brutality. This album is a an organic and honest statement from the band - it's pure f**king metal at its absolute best, the Arch Enemy way!
Producer Fredrik Nordström did a killer mix on the record - the sound is big and intense! This album has everything that Arch Enemy represents in my mind. I can't wait to release it and play these songs live for you, the fans!"
Actually, we have to start rehearsing at some point this summer? We will be playing a couple of festivals in the U.K. ('Bloodstock') and Germany ('Up From The Ground'). These will be the first shows with my brother Christopher (Amott - Guitar) back in the band! We also have to work out how to play these new songs so we will have a very busy summer with Arch Enemy, that's for certain!
The touring plan for Arch Enemy will start full on after the summer, and we can confirm we will joining the European "Black Crusade" tour package with Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce and Shadows Fall - yeah, that's a pretty impressive tour, huh? Equally exciting for us is the Australian "Black Crusade" tour which we will be doing with Trivium and Machine Head.
Lot's of other cool touring ideas are flying around at the moment - looks like we also might be visiting places on this planet where Arch Enemy has not yet had the pleasure of playing?????. That's what it's all about!

Epica - Mark Jansen To Raise Money For World Wide Fund For Nature
On Saturday the 7th of July this year (07-07-07), Mark Jansen, guitarist of Epica, will ride the Marmotte for the benefit of the World Wide Fund for Nature. The Marmotte is a French one-day cycle marathon of 174 km. Despite the fact that this marathon is not very well known to most Dutch people, it is one of the most renowned among the fanatic cyclists. This competitive journey can be compared to a heavy tour leg in the Alps. The ride involves 4 mountain passes, of which 3 are considered hors category (toughest mountains) in the Tour de France.
The marathon will involve the next mountains: Col de la Croix de Fer, col du Télégraphe, col du Galibier and last but not least, l'Alpe de l'Huez needs to be mounted.
Anyone can sponsor me for this event by filling in a certain amount of money per kilometer on the inscription form. All profits from this event will go to the WWF. My travel and accommodation expenses will be taken care of by myself.
I am really looking forward to this and I hope that lots of people will support this campaign.

Theatre Of Tragedy have announced two shows that they will be playing in Poland. The first show will be on October 12th in Krakow at Klub Studio, and the second on October 13th in Warsaw at Progresja. More details will be revealed soon.
