Jack Owen has left Cannibal Corpse....

Guitarist Jack Owen has quit the band. Cannibal Corpse is currently working with a replacement. All scheduled concerts will still take place. Check back for a more detailed statement in the days to come.

2004-05-03 - Jack Owen
"After 15 years with Cannibal Corpse, I've decided to leave the group. My heart just wasn't in it anymore, and it was reflected in my appearance on stage. Times change, and I just don't enjoy the music as much as I used to, and the only thing keeping me in the band was steady work, and the pay. These things makes it unfair to myself, my band members, and especially the fans. I'd like to thank all the members of Cannibal Corpse, past and present, for sharing in the conquest of an entire genre of music. I wish the band continued success...

I would especially like to thank the fans for being there for 15 years. Without you, I wouldn't have made it this far. Your dedication to death metal is unbelievable.

I am going to continue in music, of course, with Adrift. I'd like to thank them for their patience and understanding, and support of my decision. We will meet again, I'm sure..

Cheers,
Jack Owen

YYRKOON With Osmose Records...

Having realized two albums on two independent labels, the french band YYRKOON works now with Osmose Productions for their futur albums. Their music is a mix between a powerfull thrash metal and a raw death metal, the whole linked by solos and melodic parts.

Their third album titled "Occult Medicine" will be out in september 2004. It plunges you into a horror/fantastic context, where the imagination and creativity of a mad doctor take a dementia shape. Recorded & mixed in Denmark at Hansen Studios, this album is endowed with a very good sound quality. This album will contain 12 madness songs.

A bonus video-clip at the tone of this album will be done soon and a bonus track shall enrich the LP version. Don't miss it !!

Seth: new album will be released later...

From the Band :

ERA-DEACAY was suposed to come out on the following monthes, but after talks with Avantgardemusic it seemed necessary and unavoidable to push back the release. We lost quite some time finishing mixing this 4th album, and the mastering is still not over yet.
The album will hit the shelves on September 6.
This decision was not an easy one to make, but we have to be patient to release this album in the best possible conditions. We'll do our best to offer you an exclusive track on our wbesite around June/July.

Rhapsody: A new MCD in May

RHAPSODY will be issuing a new mini-CD, entitled "The Dark Secret", on May 29 through Magic Circle Music/SPV. The group's as-yet-untitled new full-length album will follow in September.

"The Dark Secret" track listing:

01. Unholy Warcry (short version)*
02. Thunder Mighty Roar*
03. Sacred Power Of Raging Winds
04. Guardians Of Destiny (English version)*
05. (T.B.C.)

* Titles will not appear on the upcoming studio album

The mini-CD will be packaged with a limited edition bonus DVD containing "Making of" footage for the new album (incl. interview sequences with Christopher Lee) and a 5.1 Mix of "Unholy Warcry" (short version).

As previously reported, RHAPSODY's new album will feature a very special appearance by acclaimed actor Christopher Lee ("Star Wars - Episode 2: Attack of the Clones", "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring", "Gremlins II", "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"). Mr. Lee is no stranger to music and recording studios as he is a classically trained opera singer himself. He will be providing a powerful narration on the forthcoming self-produced CD of the Italy-based group.

Among other well-known narrators and London actors, Lee will guide the listeners in the role of a king through a unique saga invented by RHAPSODY's founding members Luca Turilli and Alex Staropoli. As a special surprise, Mr. Lee's daughter Christina Lee will also appear in the part of a warrior princess. Incidentally this will mark the first time father and daughter will work together.

RHAPSODY's new CD is being recorded in four different studios in Europe with appearances by more than a dozen international guest soloists. Also appearing on the album will be the entire Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra from the Czech Republic as well as a 50-piece choir.

*BIG GRASPOP CLASH*

Year after year, scores of metalheads wonder why hardly any homegrown bands make it onto the otherwise excellent Graspop bill

Yes, well, we can't get around the fact that there are legions of international acts out there and most of them have been around the block a few times more than our Belgian bands. For a minute there, it looked as if no Belgian bands at all were going to grace this year's three-day festival, but of course we couldn't let that happen. We joined forces with Rock Tribune to look for a satisfactory solution. After all, who do you choose when every Belgian band feels called to? Then we thought: why not organise a genuine BATLLE OF BANDS and guess what? The people behind the Graspop festival also liked the idea. The place to be is Biebob, Vosselaar (or what did you expect?). A prestigious event calls for a prestigious location, so Belgium's permier metal temple was the logical choice.
This is the plan: on 22 May, five Belgian bands will thrash it out on stage in the crunching final of the Big Graspop Clash. The winner obviously gets to play Graspop, that goes without saying, but there's more... Thanks to musical instrument shop KEY MUSIC, the band that comes out on top will also win A BACKLINE WORTH NO LESS THAN ? 3,000 (!!). And still we at Rock Tribune felt it wasn't enough. A track by the winning band or artist will be included on the CD that will accompany the July/August issue of our magazine.
So what do you do if you have your own band? Go for it, of course!! Get a move on and send a CD with your material to

Tuska Open Air 2004, new artists confirmed...

King Diamond off - Dio and In Flames on.
-----
Although previously announced, King Diamond will not be appearing at
Tuska-festival. The artist's representative apologizes for the
cancellation that came immediatly after the confirmation and for the fact
that King Diamond will not be able to perform for his finnish fans.
However, the Artist has personal matters which require him to remain on
the U.S. soil.

Despite the cancellation of King Diamond, the old-school metalheads have
a reason to celebrate as the legendary Dio take the stage on Sunday the
18th, led by their charismatic frontman, metal-icon Ronnie James Dio.
This influential veteran has released music since the early seventies and
has made a name for himself by performing vocal duties for Rainbow, Black
Sabbath and for the past two decades, Dio. Dio's latest studioalbum
Killing The Dragon was released in 2002. Last year Dio released an
anthology-album and a dvd titled Evil Or Divine.

The headliner for Friday the 16th of July has now been confirmed to be
one of the most popular Swedish metalbands at the moment, In Flames.
Their new album, Soundtrack To Your Escape will be released worldwide at
the end of March. The current In Flames -album, Reroute To Remain has
been both, an artistic and a commercial success and has made In Flames
one of the most successful bands of their genre.

Also performing at Kaisaniemi Park will be swedish gothgroup Beseech. For
domestic additions, deathmetal supergroup Chaosbreed, newcomer
Trollheim's Grott and melodic-metallers Charon have confirmed their
performances.

The search is still on for a few international artists and several
domestic ones.

Tickets for Tuska 2004 will go on sale in May through www.tiketti.fi,
www.lippupalvelu.fi and this year's new addition, www.menolippu.fi. Each
of them accept creditcards when buying tickets from abroad.

At this time of the year, the Tuska Line-up looks like this:

DIO (USA)
In Flames (SWE)
Nightwish
Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus
Suburban Tribe
Sonata Arctica
Soilwork (SWE)
Diablo
Dark Tranquillity (SWE)
