Katatonia - New Video Posted Online
Katatonia's brand new video for the song 'July', shot and directed by Charlie Granberg, has been posted online at YouTube.com.
Commented Granberg: "It's basically a perfomance video. But I wanted the feeling of the band playing in a very rough, abandonded or even bombed out house, in an extremely warm country like Mexico or somewere in the middle east. Dark on the inside, but with sunbeams searching their way through the dust, hitting the bandmembers here and there. I really wanted the feeling of the outside world being so much better and brighter than the place the band is in. The biggest challenge with this video I think, was that I wanted to use really warm and grainy colours, wich is kinda rare in this type of music, but at the same time wrap it in a gloomy, apocalyptic feeling. But I think the balance is there and I'm happy the band liked it so much."

Behemoth - Initial Tour Dates Released; Wrapping Up Recording Process
Polish death metallers, Behemoth, appear to be lining up select U.S. shows (most likely taking place around an appearance at this year's New England Metalcore festival). Dates released so far include:
April 28 - Philadelphia, PA @ Electric Factory w/ Dimmu Borgir, etc.
April 29 - New York, NY @ Irving Plaza w/ Cannibal Corpse, etc.
April 30 - Springfield, VA @ Jaxx
Also, Behemoth are currently wrapping up the tenuous recording process for The Apostasy, "their most ambitious and epic offering yet." The new effort is being recorded in the band's hometown of Gdansk with Nergal (vocals, guitars) and longtime sound engineer Malta in the producers' chairs and is set for a late July release.
Nergal checks in with the following news: "We are almost done recording all of the guitar tracks. It is taking us much longer than we had originally expected but The Apostasy is technically the most demanding of all Behemoth albums thus far. We are extremely proud of what we've recorded and the sound is just devastating. This time I decided to use three different amps and record two guitars on each side. This way we make the guitar tone meatier and it also provides something more unique sound wise. Seth (guitars) and I are starting to record our lead parts now while Orion lays down his final bass tracks. I am so excited right now, but at the same time I have never been so stressed in my life. This album is my life now.
Last week we had a special guest on the song 'Inner Sanctum.' This is the most creepy and evil sounding tune on The Apostasy so far. However, I'm not going to reveal the name of the guest musician just yet because I do not want to ruin the surprise. All of the tracks should be completed over the next two weeks. After that I fly out to Uppsala, Sweden to being the mixing process with the acclaimed Daniel Bergstrand (Arch Enemy, In Flames) at Dugout Studios. We had long discussion about the direction of the record and we definitely seem to be on the same page. I can't wait till we start working on that."
Be sure to check out the the latest video installment from The Apostasy recordings.

Callenish Circle - Break Up Announced
Posted by the band on the Callenish Circle homepage:
"After nearly 15 years we've decided to lay our precious Callenish Circle to rest. We'll play our last show on Saturday the 10th of March at De Azijnfabriek in Roermond, The Netherlands. This wasn't the easiest decision to make, but in the end, we all agree that Callenish Circle has now run its course. We've accomplished everything that we set out to do and even more but now the time has come to move on. We're all very proud of our latest album [Pitch.Black.Effects] and feel that now is a good time to call it a day.
After all those years the inspiration to keep Callenish Circle going was slowly fading away. We always aimed to deliver the goods with the highest quality possible and we simply do not want to continue a band that can't give the essential blood, sweat & tears anymore. We prefer to burn out on a high note now, rather than just slowly fade into obscurity. Some bands linger on for years past their expiration date but Callenish Circle will definitely not become one of those bands.
Over the past 15 years, Callenish Circle have left their mark on the worldwide metal scene with 5 albums released, toured with many great bands and played lots of great shows & festivals. It was definitely an interesting journey for all of us, and we look back at our past with absolutely no regrets, only with pride. When we started this band in the early '90-ies we were just a bunch of kids who thought it would be fun to play some cover tunes of our favourite bands at the time, just think of influential bands like Death, Pestilence, (old) Paradise Lost & Bolt Thrower.
Back then we never could have imagined that, almost 15 years later, we would have released 5 full-length albums of which the last 3 released worldwide on the highly acclaimed Metal Blade Records and that we would have played over 200 shows & festivals all over the world, being our Mexican Tour 2006 one of the definite highlights in our career.
So many of you from all around the world have gotten into our music, and for us musicians playing in a band, that's really what it's all about. Having people from all over the world tell you that they've genuinely been moved by your music is definitely a great thing. We're very pleased that you enjoyed what we created. Those words were always an inspiration to us and we can truly walk away from Callenish Circle with our heads held high at this point, no doubt about that.

Vital Remains - Announces Album Title And Track Listing
Extreme metallers Vital Remains have returned with a vicious new slab of blasphemy that promises to strike fear in the heart of the masses. The much-anticipated new album, "Icons Of Evil", was produced by the renowned Erik Rutan (Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore) and is set for an April 3 release. This offering marks the group's second recording with Glen Benton (Deicide) on vocals. Founder Tony Lazaro (guitars) wrote the entire album and handled bass duties for its recording, while Dave Suzuki once again tracked all the drums and lead guitar parts.
"Icons of Evil" track listing:
01. Where Is Your God Now
02. Icons of Evil
03. Scorned
04. Born To Rape The World
05. Reborn?The Upheaval of Nihility
06. Hammer Down The Nails
07. Shrapnel Embedded Flesh
08. 'Til Death
09. In Infamy
10. Disciples of Hell
Lazaro further describes the new effort: "A big thanks to Erik Rutan, who really worked us to near death in order to get us to deliver our best performances, which we think we did, without a doubt! We thought 'Dechristianize' was a tough album to record, but this effort proved us wrong. This album, hands down, sets the bar for death metal. We think our fans will soon agree without question that this is our 'Reign In Blood'."
Drawing from classic '80s metal bands such as Venom, Bathory, Mercyful Fate, Morbid Angel, Deicide and Slayer, Vital Remains based their survival through a DIY underground approach that earned them a rabid legion of fans. However, after four full-length releases the group's biggest break would come in 2003 as they signed to Century Media and released the genre-defying epic "Dechristianize". It was hailed by critics and fans alike as one of extreme metal's most accomplished and ambitious works yet that ever garnered mainstream acclaim. The album quickly elevated the band into the death metal elite and was supported by four full U.S. tours, further solidifying their status as one of the genre's hardest-working acts.
Vital Remains continues to bring to the table nothing less than barbaric war metal the way it was meant to be: fast, brutal and tasteful. The world of extreme metal is not ready for the savageness that is about to be unleashed upon it.

Dimmu Borgir - New Album Track List Revealed + Other Details About The Album
Norwegian symphonic black metallers Dimmu Borgir have finalized the track listing for their new album, "In Sorte Diaboli", due in North America on April 24 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD will arrive in Europe on April 30 (April 27 in Germany).
"In Sorte Diaboli" was recorded and mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden with producers Fredrik Nordström and Patrik J. Sten. A limited-edition digipack version of the CD will include the bonus cut "The Ancestral Fever" along with a bonus DVD containing the video for the album's opening track, "The Serpentine Offering", shot by director Patric Ullaeus of Sweden's Revolver Film Company. Ordering information on both the regular and digipack version can be found at www.cdon.com.
"In Sorte Diaboli" track listing:
01. The Serpenitine Offering
02. The Chosen Legacy
03. The Conspiracy Unfolds
04. The Ancestral Fever (bonus track)
05. The Sacrilegious Scorn
06. The Fallen Arise
07. The Sinister Awakening
08. The Fundamental Alienation
09. The Invaluable Darkness
10. The Foreshadowing Furnace
As previously reported, Nuclear Blast Records has launched a special "In Sorte Diaboli" news page at this location.
Dimmu Borgir guitarist Silenoz previously told Revolver magazine that the songwriting and recording process for the group's long-anticipated follow-up to 2003's "Death Cult Armageddon" involved none of the intensive pre-production of their last two discs, no demos, and no gallinvanting around with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. "It's definitely going to sound way more epic and bigger than we thought, because Mustis [keyboards] has also contributed with his keyboard ideas," said Silenoz. "I have to admit that some of the keyboard things on 'Death Cult Armageddon' sound better on the demo version than [their symphony versions] on the album. I probably shouldn't say that, but it's true."
This will be Dimmu's first concept album, a story set in always-epic Medieval Europe that also serves as a treatise on the modern-day political and social abuses of organized religion. "There's this dude that works as a priest's assistant, and after a while he just discovers that he has nothing to do with Christianity," said Silenoz of the storyline, which he conceived in full before even a note of music was composed. "He just sort of has this awakening and realizes that he has different abilities and different powers and is leaning more to the dark side."

As announced on their official website: "It's finally time to unveil the cover artwork of the upcoming album, "Terrorize Brutalize Sodomize"! Vital Remains - Complete Work On New Album
"U.S. legends of epic black death metal" Vital Remains have just returned home from Mana Recording Studio in Florida, where they recorded their followup to 2003's "Dechristianize" featuring Glen Benton of Deicide once again on vocals.
Here is a statement from guitarist Tony Lazaro:
We've just returned home from Mana Recordings in Florida where we spent the whole month of December/January working on the new album. Yes, it's done and what can we say other than holy shit! We cannot wait for the fans to hear this new album!! I really think all of our fans are going to shit themselves when they hear this. To those few who thought we couldn't top Dechristianize, you're in for a real surprise because we did! We thought Dechristianize was a tough album to do, oh man! This album, hands down sets the bar. We spent 12-13 hours a day straight with no days off. The drums took some 10 days alone to track all nine songs. Glen's vocals sound sick and his performance and attack was awesome! Dave's leads and harmonies are some of his best work to date. Total shredding as well as a great drum performance done by Dave. He really worked hard to get his best drum tracks down. The overall sound of the new album is just HUGE! We are very proud of the results of all this hard work and we think our fans will soon agree as well. A BIG THANKS to Erik Rutan who really worked us to near death ha! Much respect to you and Shaun Otani for really working hard and pushing us to the point of insanity to bring out our best performances, to which we think you did without a doubt!
This is without question our "Reign In Blood" album. Soon the underground worldwide will get to hear this Unholy Brutality!.... "Hammer Down The Nails!!"
Vital Remains is also booking a lot of tours for the release of this album in 2007. Followed will also be a single and a video, the band's first premiered video in its eighteen year history.

Pig Destroyer - New Album Details
Pig Destroyer: "Writing and rehearsing for Phantom Limb are almost all done," Scott Hull says from his home in Virginia, as Pig Destroyer prepare to enter Omega Studios (immortalized by Bad Brains' The Omega Sessions) to record their fourth album. "Very different writing process this time around. I wrote and demoed all the tracks in my studio with the drum machine?not much differently than I would do with Agoraphobic Nosebleed?then presented all the songs completed to the rest of the band for practice."
The guitarist and producer has been doing a lot of practicing on his own as of late: "I've been doing a lot of studying at Omega with their engineers and in their rooms," he explains. "I'm slowly putting myself in the position to produce bands, which is something I've never really been prepared to do. I produced Phobia's Cruel this year and had a good experience. I've grown in the process of completing some movie scores as well. One of which, for a film called Sanctified, really put my music knowledge to the test as the score includes a lot of actual orchestral pieces I had to compose."
While the band's signature metagrind attack remains more or less intact, Hull notes that Phantom Limb will be "leaner, meaner than Terrifyer, more metal, a little burlier. At the same time I think the songs are better, just because of the change in the writing process. Plus, Blake Harrison, our noise and sample guy, really adds to the chaos. Not to mention, since Terrifyer we've really gotten eggheaded about gear and defining what sounds we want to get. As Todd Barry would say; 'This shit's going to be slicker than a YES album.'"
