Brutal Godz - Another Metal Supergroup

Guitarist Uwe Lulis (Rebellion), drummer Alex Holzwarth (Rhapsody Of Fire, ex-Angra, Dol Ammad, ex-Sieges Even) and bassist Oliver Holzwarth (Blind Guardian, ex-Sieges Even) have reportedly joined forces in a brand new Germany-based project called Brutal Godz.

According to a press release only Blabbermouth knows of, Brutal Godz' "musical concept is based on energy, cruelty in its purest form without any boundaries."

Brutal Godz are currently seeking a vocalist to complete the group's line-up. According to the band: "fluent English is a must, country of origin/place of residence does not matter. Of utmost importance is a variable voice able to shout, sing and intonate with a strong feel for rhythm patterns. A dominant stage performance is a must."

A "bunch" of songs have already been written and "the band is ready to hit the stage."

It is by far the most popular for use in decoration and also a reflection on the deeply religious character of the Ghanaian people."

Hateform - Working On Sophomore Release

A couple of years of playing gigs, little line-up changes and other shit hitting the fan, and again it's time for a new Hateform album to emerge. The recordings for the upcoming album just started, and the release date is set for spring 2010.

The new guy behind the drums, Tuomo Latvala (Torture Killer, ex-Demigod, Torsofuck) already took charge and blasted in some amazing drum work. This far the album consists of such working titles as "Flight Attendants Biological Clock" and "RailCripple". The ten tracks will be laid down on an open schedule this time, as the extra stress set by a tight deadline doesn't seem to help in getting the best result. Altough the idea is to get the album done before the summer.

The papers have been written with 7:45 Records once again and the co-operation will continue from where we left off last time, which happened to be the New Comer of the Year 2008 Award at the Finnish Metal Expo last year.

Hateform's debut effort Dominance was released in 2008. More info about the band on http://www.myspace.com/hateform.

Hateform line-up:

Tomy Laisto (guitar) Mors Principium Est]
Petri Nyström (vocals)
Tom Gardiner (guitar) Mors Principium Est, Katra, Solution.45]
Tuomo Latvala (drums) Torture Killer, ex-Demigod, Torsofuck]
Joni Suodenjärvi (bass)

Carnal Forge - Parting Ways With Drummer

Carnal Forge and drummer Stefan Westerberg have reportedly parted ways.

In a statement on the band's website, the remaining band members state that, "with Stefan being one of the founding members of Carnal Forge we're sad to see him leave.

The good news are that we have already found a replacement for Stefan in Chris Barkensjö (also Construcdead/ex-Grave/ex-General Surgery/ex-Kaamos) to take on the skin battering of Carnal Forge. Chris will do his live debut soon! We wish Stefan the best of luck in his future endeavours and welcome Chris to the ranks! We're stoked about the new blood in the band, and can't wait to get out on the road with this fresh installment!

Here's a statement from Stefan: "First of all... thank you guys! I'm really happy that I got this change! I have known these guys for many years and now I feel that the time is right for me to move on and join Headstone. The rehearsals have been going great. I have been in Carnal Forge 11 years now but like I said... It's time for me to move on! I am excited and very happy that I got this change to do this with Headstone.

Because I know this band can go far... Really, really far! We have 12 songs now and I'm looking forward to the recordings of the album. All I can say is that I hope you like this as much as I do! Because this will be a killer record, so remember."

Gaahl - In The Middle Of Black Metal Musical Controversy

Gaahl strikes again. The ex-Gorgoroth vocalist finds himself in the middle of another controversy, surrounding his appearance in a musical after restating his support for church burnings.

It all starts when Kristian "Gaahl" Espedal gets casted in a musical based on the concept album Svartediket, which was inspired by myths and legends of the lake Svartediket, located outside of Bergen, Norway. The "first-ever black metal musical" is scheduled to premiere on May 26 at Festspillene I Bergen (Bergen International Festival), an annual international music and cultural festival. The event will be held at Bergen's Den Nationale Scene, one of Norway's oldest and most renowned theaters which was founded to develop Norwegian playwrights. But now, the artistic director - Bjarte Hjelmeland - of the renowned Norwegian Den Nationale Scene theater, is reconsidering his decision to cast the former black metal vocalist for the upcoming "Svartediket" production.

Gaahl's casting has caused controversy in Norway, particularly as both Festspillene and Den Nationale Scene are heavily funded by the Norwegian state. Halvor Nordhaug, the Lutheran bishop in the diocese of Bjørgvin, seated in Bergen and covering parts of Western Norway, is especially concerned about Gaahl's previously published statements to the media in which he appeared to condone and support church burnings.

After Gaahl's involvement with the "Svartediket" musical was made official this week, the former Gorgoroth frontman once again reiterated that he views church burning as "acceptable".

"I have left my past behind, but I still have an anti-Christian attitude," Gaahl told the Bergens Tidende newspaper. "Christianity has no place in this country. As long as the church has the power it has and supports oppression, we shouldn't give the church any sympathy. Therefore I don't think it's wrong if it happens again. The symbolic value of burning down churches is important."

Responding to Gaahl's remarks, Bishop Halvor Nordhaug told the Bergens Tidende newspaper, "Gaahl displays some scary attitudes by defending church burnings. He says nothing about the fact that human lives were lost during one of the church burnings in the 1990s. I think everybody, no matter what their religious beliefs are, agrees with me that his attitudes are scary, but it could still be possible that his role at Den Nationale Scene will provide him with some kind of legitimacy, which is unfortunate."
