Rammstein - More Censorship Issues

After being censored for the pseudo mini-porn video that was "Pussy" and the controversies surrounding the single "Ich Tu Dir Weh" (I Hurt You) and a picture inside the album booklet displaying guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe spanking a chubby woman wearing only a mask, it seems that also two Rammstein live shows will be censored now.

In November the album Liebe Ist Für Alle Da got "indexed" by the German Federal Department for Media Harmful to Young Persons, making it illegal in Germany for minors to purchase the album, or display it where it can be seen by people underage, effectively banning it from stores. At the time, keyboardist Christian Lorenz expressed surprise at the advisory board's "parochial sense of art" and regretted their apparent inability to detect irony.

Now, the German Family Ministry authorities will not allow the band to perform any songs that have been indexed on both their Dortmund shows. Furthermore, the ministry demands each band member to sign a "written explanation before the concerts, that the indexed songs will indeed not be played." In case of violation, the band faces a fine of ?10,000, per person. Public Order director Ortwin Schafer also stated that the Youth Protection Act will be put into force in conjunction with the police and "fans under 18 must be accompanied by parent or guardian of a person to attend the concert. Fans without a parent or guardian in attendance will be sent home."

Both concerts, each with over 10,000 attendees, are both sold out. Though the organizers tried to downplay the situation: "We have received no request of the public order of Dortmund", says Silvia Pape of "Concert Team NRW". However, there were already telephone contacts. Pape: "Once we have something on paper, we will forward it on to the management and the band. The final decision lies with the guys. "

Kekal - Still Disbanded Though Recording New Material

As indecisive as a five-year-old in a toy store, Kekal - the so-called clinically dead metal band from Indonesia - have confirmed a new album is planned for 2010. When avantgarde becomes beyond the grave.

"Good News! Kekal is NOT dead, and it is proven that new songs are currently in the production.

After speculations about the current status of Kekal following the departures of all band members last year, it is confirmed that a new Kekal studio album is planned for 2010.

The new album will be some sort of "collective effort". It means that all 3 former key members (Jeff, Azhar Levi and Leo) have contributed in making "the whole art-form in one package", while not limited only on the music side. Levi is currently making the entire artwork for the album and Jeff is producing the music. Two songs will also have Leo's guitar works.

About the album direction, Jeff told that each song displays its unique character as a balance between electronic and organic elements, rhythm and melody, aggression and atmosphere, simplicity and complexity, beauty and the beast. Confirmed instruments being used on recording are: electric & guitars, drums, samples from field-recordings, theremin, analog synths, vocals, vocoder, and TR-808.

The album will redefine the term "experimental" in its true sense, but yet listeners will find it accessible and digestible.

Kekal is currently looking for a potential record label to release the album on CD and digital later this year. More details including tracklisting and album title will be announced in the coming months.

However, there is no plan for Jeff, Levi and Leo to rejoin Kekal. Kekal will stay memberless."

So what now? Kekal is not dead, but not active either, but somehow you're still active? And the band stays memberless but still the key musicians are working back together on new material under the Kekal moniker? And if you're memberless, who's going to sign the contract of the record deal, huh? What is this? A smart marketing trick for a Zombie Jesus concept album? You're either disbanded or you're not. Make up your mind already. Metal is not a shoe outlet.

Weedeater - Album Recording Postponed, Vocalist Shot Himself In The Foot

And the award for epic fail of the week goes to...

Never afraid to stir things up a little, Sludge metal act Weedeater are forced to postpone upcoming tour dates and album recordings, after Dave "Dixie" Collins having a little accident. Apparently the ex-Buzzov*en and Bongzilla vocalist/bassist shot himself in the foot while cleaning a (loaded) shotgun. Classic.

With a sense of humor, the rest of the band posted the following statement: "As most of you know, here in the Weedeater camp we pride ourselves on a long tradition of shooting our band in the proverbial foot right before we're supposed to do something important. Whether it's a big tour, a recording session, or whatever else we're supposed to do, invariably we will find some way to try and thwart our grandiose plans. Well, it's no different for this recording session, except that this time we really did shoot ourselves in the foot.

In fact we regret to inform all of you that this weekend, Dixie Dave shot his big toe off whilst cleaning his favorite shotgun. Yup, that's right. When reached for comment, Mr. Collins gave a quote that speaks for itself: "It wasn't my intention to shoot off my big toe. This really fucking sucks and the pain is unbearable." Mr. Collin's doctors have advised that he is to be bedridden for the next few weeks during his recovery. This will obviously affect the recording session (and the few surrounding shows in Jan/Feb), which will now have to be postponed until after the March/April "nine-toe" tour. Said tour is still 100% on, however, so check back soon for updates on venues and exact dates. It looks like the support bands will be awesome and the band is really stoked to play this new material after touring for so many years on the same basic set. Yeah... we knew that too, sorry but we're about to make good on it. And of course after all, we gotta keep workin', like workin' men do. Shooting your big toe off isn't free, for fuck's sake!

So to re-cap... Keko sacrificed his pinkie for Down/Melvins, Shep broke his hand for Today Is The Day, and now Dixie has generously offered up his big toe for Steve Albini to nibble on. Unless overtly fond of Limburger cheese and rotten flesh, Master Steve is advised to decline."

Abscess - New Album Out In March

Bay Area death metal band, Abscess has announced the release date for its latest effort, Dawn of Inhumanity. The new record, which is the follow up to 2007's, Horrorhammer, will hit stores in the US on March 9th (March 15th Europe) via Peaceville Records.

Dawn of Inhumanity was recorded at the famous Fantasy Studios, CA in October 2009, with experienced engineer Adam Munoz helping to produce this latest spawn. The result is an unrivaled nightmare of raw experimental extremity. Including special guest vocal appearances by the Darkthrone duo, this is twisted, dirty punk death without limits!

Abscess drummer/vocalist, Chris Reifert, states: "Bursting through the boundaries of brutality, Abscess surpasses all previous efforts and presents a death metal masterpiece filled with insanity, violence and mind blowing savagery."

The cover art for Dawn of Inhumanity was produced by top artist, Dennis Dread (Darkthrone, Autopsy), with booklet art courtesy of Abscess's own Chris Reifert. Dawn of Inhumanity also marks the final release of Darkthrone's Tyrant Syndicate Productions, sub-label of Peaceville Records.

Featuring former members of the legendary bands Autopsy, Death and Von, Abscess hail from Oakland California, joining together in 1994 to start their very own brand of "Sickodelia". They released their first studio album, Seminal Vampires and Maggot Men, in 1996.

Locrian - New Album To Feature Yakuza, Nachtmystium Guest Appearances

Locrian have completed their new collaborative studio album, entitled Territories. The album was recorded in January 2009 at Phantom Manor Studios in Chicago, IL and features numerous collaborators including Andrew Scherer (Velnias), Mark Solotroff (Bloodyminded), Bruce Lamont (Yakuza), and Blake Judd (Nachtmystium). The album will also be a collaboration between four labels from three countries: At War With False Noise (UK), Basses Frequences (France), Bloodlust! (USA), and Small Doses (USA). Territories is Locrian's second studio album and is slated for a March 1st release.

Territories cover art] tracklist:

01. Inverted Ruins
02. Between Barrows
03. Procession of Ancestral Brutalism
04. Ring Road
05. Antediluvian Territory
06. The Columnless Arcade

A press release reads as follows: André Foisy and Terence Hannum have spent the last several years honing the Locrian sound. They've taken elements from noise, power electronics, drone, and black metal to come up with a truly unique sound reflecting the sprawling urban decay surrounding them in Chicago. After nearly two dozen releases, they've found themselves in the world of Territories. For this release, Locrian has pulled out all the stops and fleshed out the band with the help of Mark Solotroff (Bloodyminded, Anatomy Of Habit) on vocals and synthesizers, Blake Judd (Nachtmystium) on guitar, Bruce Lamont (Yakuza) on saxophone and vocals, and Andrew Scherer (Velnias) on drums. The results of this massive collaborative effort are apparent from the moment the album starts. The textures run darker and deeper; the vocals - sometimes three layers deep - seem to be conjured from the decrepit muck of a failed civilization; the feedback takes on a more pronounced presence; and the big band allows for full-on black metal assaults that burst out of the tortured drones Locrian have come to be known for. Truly a case of the whole being greater than the sum of the parts, Territories may well be the most fully realized form of Locrian's dystopic vision.

Murder Therapy - Entire Album Available For Streaming

Italian "psychotic" death metallers Murder Therapy have made their entire debut album Symmetry Of Delirium, released in September, available for streaming. Check it out here.

The band comments: "With the coming of a new year we decided to take another step in doing things our way. We have uploaded our entire album, hoping it will stay online a long time. We know we are not the first band to do this, and will not be the last, although most of the time albums are streamed only for a limited promotional time. We want to use this blog to be clear about what we are doing. There are certain beliefs about the music/internet relationship that we think don't make sense anymore.

To think that downloading an album equals a failure in selling it is madness. Thinking that streaming an entire album could demotivate its purchase is absurd (unless the album is really bad, eh eh). Having the listener find somewhere else (blogspots, Torrents, P2P..) a "preview" of the entire album, instead of having the band present it is nonsense.

So, in the attempt of taking back what is ours and present it to our listeners in the way we think is right, we decided to leave our entire album "Symmetry of Delirium" online. If you think our music is interesting listen to it here and maybe tell us what you think about it, it will be more than appreciated. And if you feel like supporting Murder Therapy, grab our merch online, in a store or at our concerts... now!"

Symmetry Of Delirium cover art] tracklist:

01. The Scourge
02. Extra-Ordinary Perfect Machine
03. Staring At The Zodiac
04. Tales Of The Bizarre
05. Equilibrium
06. Two Shots In Colebrook
07. Hidden In Lies
08. Asymmetry
09. Delirium

Imperial Vengeance - Sign To Transcend Records

Official press release

Transcend Management are very pleased to announce the signing of a worldwide management deal with Imperial Vengeance, a British extreme metal act formed in 2007 by C. Edward Alexander (aka Charles Hedger (Cradle Of Filth)) and David Bryan.

The band have an interesting and intriguing angle to their creative persona as they attempt to explore ideas and material firmly rooted in the glory days of the British Empire presenting a wide range of subjects influenced by its' colorful social and military histories, theatre, literature and mythologies.

Having self-released their 4-track EP called Death: August & Royal in early 2008 the band were quickly snapped up by legendary UK label Candlelight Records. The duo then spent the rest of the year writing and recording their debut album At The Going Down Of The Sun. Fuelled by absinthe and cigar smoke, the album contains ten tracks of what the duo have referred to as "Aristocratic Dark Metal" with the title track featuring a specially recorded passage from Harry Patch, who at the age of 110 was the last surviving Tommy to have seen combat in the trenches of the Pashcendale. Mixed and mastered by Brett Caldas-Lima and released 25th July 2009, the CD has been attracting considerable attention and excellent reviews.

The band made it's blistering live debut at The Garage in London, opening for Chthonic closely followed by a set on Remembrance Sunday at Hellfire Festival at Birmingham's NEC to an audience of union flag waving fans. Touring plans for 2010 are well underway and will be revealed in due course.

Rob Ferguson of Transcend commented "I am personally very excited to welcome Imperial Vengeance to our exclusive management roster. I firmly believe that they have a fantastic all round package both musically and visually. It is refreshing to see a band that already has a strong identity, great depth and a true creative vision of where they are heading. I relish the opportunity to assist them in steering the ship towards achieving those goals."
