Six Feet Under - Slayer Cover Streaming Online

Six Feet Under are streaming their new cover of Slayer's "At Dawn They Sleep" at their MySpace page. Graveyard Classics 3 will see a release on 19 January 2010.

Commented Chris Barnes: "We chose the track "At Dawn They Sleep" to be the first single off Graveyard Classics 3. We've wanted to do a Slayer song for a while and lots of our fans have been requesting that we do a Slayer song as well; "At Dawn They Sleep" really seemed like it would lend itself to our style. And, to be honest, I've always preferred the early Slayer stuff, Hell Awaits and prior. I think the production and song structure of their early recordings are raw and in your face, in a very dynamic way, and that's the type of band SFU is, so it seemed to fit on a bunch of different levels.

Graveyard Classics 3 cover art] tracklist:

01. A Dangerous Meeting Mercyful Fate cover]
02. Metal On Metal Anvil cover]
03. The Frayed Ends Of Sanity Metallica cover]
04. At Dawn They Sleep Slayer cover]
05. Not Fragile
06. On Fire Van Halen cover]
07. Pounding Metal Exciter cover]
08. Destroyer Twisted Sister cover]

After 7 years, roughly 200 different bands representing 18 countries, and several venue changes, the Maryland Deathfest has developed into the premier metal festival in the United States, and one of the most talked about festivals internationally.

The concept of Maryland Deathfest is simple: to bring to the United States the best and most extreme bands the underground has to offer. Never conforming to trends, or being limited by genre restrictions, Maryland Deathfest is a showcase of what extreme music, both new and old, is capable of. With an emphasis on diversity, the festival brings together the very best death metal, grindcore, thrash, hardcore, black metal, and experimental bands from all around the world. With bands from all over the U.S. and Canada, and exclusive fly ins and rare appearances from some of the most in demand bands from Europe, Australia, and Japan, the diversity of the lineup is only surpassed by the diversity of MDF's rabid fan base, who annually travel from all over the world for a weekend of fun and music.

Since Maryland Deathfest's inception in 2003, festival organizers Ryan and Evan have continued to strive to bring together some of the most legendary bands in the scene and some of the most talked about up-and-coming bands in the underground for an unparalleled experience. Combining the DIY attitude of two young metal fans who are actually part of the scene instead of trying to exploit it, with a refreshing professional touch, Maryland Deathfest is year after year given high marks for being one of the best run and most organized festivals around.

High On Fire - New Album Details

High On Fire have completed work on its long-awaited, fifth studio album and follow-up to 2007's Death is This Communion. Titled Snakes for the Divine, the record will drop on February 23, 2010 via E1 Music.

Recorded at The Pass Studios in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman, Snakes for the Divine is High On Fire's magnum opus, capturing every nuance of the legendary band's ongoing musical progression and evolution into one of heavy music's all time greats. Sharper, faster and darker than anything the group has ever recorded, Snakes for the Divine is an unrelenting tour de force, showcasing cult guitar hero Matt Pike's utterly unique and inventive musicianship and the band's epic, thundering sound.

Premium production by Fidelman - the man who produced Slayer's World Painted Blood and is mixing the upcoming Metallica live album - boosts High On Fire's strength and power while blackened lyrical tales of ancient wars, frozen planets and doomed societies emerge from Pike's bellowing barks and throaty war cries. From the moment the leviathan-like title track explodes to kick off the album, it is immediately evident that High On Fire is determined to push modern heavy metal into new and uncharted realms. Snakes for the Divine's album artwork will be brought to life by longtime High On Fire cover artist Arik Moonhawk Roper.

Snakes For The Divine tracklist:

01. Snakes For The Divine
02. Frost Hammer
03. Bastard Samurai
04. Ghost Neck
05. Fire, Flood & Plague
06. How Dark We Pray
07. Holy Flames Of The Fire Spitter
08. Mystery Of Helm

Rotting Christ - Album Details Revealed

Original news, posted on 28.11.2009

Set for a February 15th release, Rotting Christ's upcoming album is entitled Aealo, correlatively with the band's will to delve deeper than ever before into their Greek roots.

Frontman Sakis explains: "Aealo is the transcription of the ancient Greek word ΕΑΛΩ into the Latin alphabet. It means thrashing, catastrophe or destruction and reflects the musical and lyrical content of the album. The concept of Aealo deals with the feelings of a warrior during a battle, therefore the album's title bears this sense of anger, fear and grief."

The CD was recorded at Lunatach Studios in Katerini, Greece and will feature guest appearances by Greek-American vocalist Diamanda Galas and Primordial frontman Alan A. Nemtheanga.

Aealo will be released in the US on February 23.

UPDATE

The release of Rotting Christ's eleventh offering Aealo is just two more months ahead.

Aealo cover art] tracklist:

01. Aealo
02. Eon Aenaos
03. Demonon Vrosis

06. Fire Death And Fear
07. Nekron Iahes...
08. ...Pir Threontai

Frontman Sakis comments on the artwork: "We are totally satisfied to have collaborated once more with Season of Mist's graphic designer Jérôme for the Aealo cover and lay-out. We are really impressed how well Jérôme managed to express our new album's concept on a piece of paper. The weird, the fearful, the furious feelings of a soldier during a battle are there... in front of your eyes!"

Hatesphere - New Drummer, Pull Out Of European Tour

In a statement from the band, Hatesphere have announced the addition of a new drummer:

"Things happen fast in this world - and after having suffered back problems for a long time Dennis finally had to throw in the towel. So the US Tour (with The Black Dahlia Murder, Augury and Obscura) not only marks the first time for us over there - it also marks the first tour with our new drummer, Mike Park, who many of you know from his work with fellow Danish metallers Mercenary. Mike has already had his live debut with us on our three shows in late November, and we are more than happy to have him joining our ranks! Welcome in the band!

As mentioned before things really do go fast from time to time. We have been forced to cancel our upcoming European tour with Hypocrisy, because of several personal circumstances and our change of drummer. We are very sorry, as we have looked very much forward to this tour - both to play with Hypocrisy and Survivors Zero but also to meet all you European fans again. But it seems impossible for us to be able to play it at this time. We hope for your understanding - and we promise you, we will be back later in 2010. Thank you all for your support!"

Confirmed US tour dates include:

2/24 Atlanta, GA @ Masquerade
2/25 St. Petersburg, FL @ State Theatre
2/26 Ft. Lauderdale, FL @ The Culture Room
2/27 Orlando, FL @ The Social

Thesyre - Entire Back Catalog Available For Free Download

Canadian blackened thrash metal outfit Thesyre have issued the following statement:

"Since the release of our latest album Résistance (Osmose Productions, 2009) and after thinking for a while about the future of the band, we came to the conclusion that our priorities as a band were simple: We enjoy writing, arranging and recording music but we hate the idea of performing it onstage and on tour. We are creators, not entertainers. Also, we liked collaborating with labels over the years (and some obviously did a better job than others) but there will be no satisfying recording deals for us anymore. We're going independent!

From now on we'll be giving you free access to download our music via our website. If you feel like it, you will still be able to support us directly by buying our limited physical releases (Tape, CD, LP), merchandising items or simply making a donation after downloading.

Are we committing commercial suicide? Maybe. Who cares? We surely don't! Let's cut the middleman and reach out to the people directly. We embrace the revolution of the music industry! Ars longa, vita brevis."

Go to the Thesyre website to download the band's official releases, rehearsals and unreleased/rare material.
