Charred Walls Of The Damned - First Preview Of Debut Album Online

As Charred Walls Of The Damned prepare for their self-titled debut album out February 2nd 2010 - the group is gearing up for their official release by unleashing a "radio spot" created by Richard Christy (Death, Iced Earth, Control Denied, Acheron) himself. The "radio spot" that is being streamed as of tomorrow December 1st via the band's MySpace page features clips of the first single "Ghost Town", taken from the band's debut album, Charred Walls of the Damned.

"I am beyond excited about how the Charred Walls of the Damned album turned out. Tim "Ripper" Owens (Judas Priest, Iced Earth, Yngwie Malmsteen, Beyond Fear), Steve DiGiorgio (Sadus, Death, Testament, Iced Earth, Quo Vadis, Dragonlord) and Jason Suecof (Capharnaum, Crotchduster]) all did an amazing job and I can't wait for people to hear it! The songs are super heavy and melodic at the same time, and I think my fellow Metalheads will be pumped when they hear the album" comments drummer and founding member Richard Christy.

Vocalist Tim "Ripper Owens adds, "Well... I must say, I'm not sure what people are expecting from this CD. I mean it's coming from the mind of a drummer and we all know the crazy things he does on the Howard Stern show. That being said... THIS WILL BLOW YOU AWAY, it is a Great CD! I love it!! All the way across the board... Nice Job Richard (and Carlos the Lizard)"

Charred Walls Of The Damned recorded a cover of the song "Nice Dreams" by the Minneapolis metal band Powermad as a bonus track for the Japanese release of the band's debut album. US fans will have the chance to buy this track as well, as "Nice Dreams" will be made available on iTunes the day the album is released in the states, February 2nd 2010.

"I've been a huge fan of Powermad's classic 1989 album Absolute Power since it came out. I wanted to do a cover song that I loved and at the same time, one that a lot of people probably have not heard. Absolute Power has been out of print for some time now so I'm sure the song "Nice Dreams" will be new to a lot of people, but will also bring back some great memories for metalheads like me who love the song and who love Powermad" explains Christy.

Charred Walls Of The Damned cover art] tracklisting:

01. Ghost Town
02. From The Abyss
03. Creating Our Machine

Satyricon - Taking A Break At The End Of The Year

In an interview at the beginning of November, Satyr told Terrorizer.com that Satyricon's London show on 20 December is "not just the last gig of the tour. It's also the beginning of a new phase in the evolution of the band. From then on, there are going to be a lot of changes in the Satyricon camp. After we take a long touring break and come back a couple of years later, certain people may not be with us any longer. Although we won't be doing anything overly dramatic, we'll be trying quite a few different things, which I think is going to be really good for Satyricon. The reason we're doing that is so we can continue to develop our sound. At the moment we are still enjoying what we do, but if that continues any longer it'll undoubtedly stagnate, so we need to ensure that doesn't happen. And moving in different musical directions is definitely a good way to go about it." Read the full article here.

In response to the speculations and gossip, Satyricon released the following statement a couple of days ago: "Let's try and bring some clarity to the rumours that have been circulating lately. Although The Age Of Nero is now a year old, the project is still very much alive to us as we've been working it more or less non-stop for almost three years. The last 12 months since release has been spent relentlessly touring and the fortunate success of the album has taken us to India, Australia, Japan, twice to America, across Europe and around Scandinavia and now we head out on the "Finale In Black" tour Shining and Dark Fortress], which will mark the end of the colossal The Age Of Nero project.

Once we have done that, we feel the time is right to take a break. A break where we can rest, get some perspective, work on other musical projects and non-musical projects and allow ourselves to figure out Satyricon's next move. We have some ideas on what we want to do next and one of them is to open a new musical chapter. It has never been in this bands nature to rest on our laurels and we won't be doing that either. When the time is right, we will start working on exploring new musical territory and only the future can tell what that will turn into. Taking on challenges like that is something Satyricon never has been afraid of. On the contrary, it is what has made the band grow. We tried to perfect everything Satyricon has learnt and experienced musically for the last decade on The Age Of Nero and we feel that we reached the goal we set out to achieve. It is time to pave way for something new. No, we won't return to something old. Forget it! All we know is that regardless of what we end up doing, it will still sound unmistakably like Satyricon.

"Unleashed are currently in guitarist Fredrik Folkare's "Chrome Studio" for the recording of our 10th full length album. The album will be released on Nuclear Blast records early next year. Musically, it will be the logical continuation from Midvinterblot and Hammer Battalion. Lyrically, you will recognize what has become the Unleashed trademark since more than 20 years, the combination of the past, present and future of viking struggle and way of life. A few of the songs also mark the beginning of a story never before told. More details about the album and song titles coming soon."

Dream Evil - Sign With Century Media Records

Official press release

The waiting is over, the time is right, the beast has returned: Sweden's very own and very special Dream Evil have signed a new worldwide deal with Century Media Records and are finally back with a brand-new studio album entitled In The Night to continue their unrivalled pure M.E.T.A.L. crusade!

Dream Evil comment on extending their longterm contractual partnership and returning with a new album as follows: "Finally, after three long years it's time to release a new album and at the same time we have again signed with Century Media Records. It's good to work with friends and that's what Dream Evil and Century Media has become over the past eight years. The new album will be called In The Night and is again in Dream Evil's very own vein. We're sure that this will become the strongest Dream Evil release so far and with songs like "Immortal", "In The Night", "Bang Your Head" and "In The Fires Of The Sun" we will melt your brains!"

Dream Evil's new studio album In The Night was once again produced at Sweden's Studio Fredman (Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Hammerfall, etc.), which is owned by Dream Evil axeman Fredrik Nordström, and strikes back with the power of pure steel via Century Media Records on January 25th, 2010 in Europe and January 26th, 2010 in North America.

The Damned Things - New Project Of Anthrax, Fall Out Boy, Every Time I Die Members

Members of Anthrax, Fall Out Boy and Every Time I Die have joined forces to create a metal supergroup called The Damned Things.

Fall Out Boy's guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley have teamed up with Every Time I Die's vocalist Keith Buckley and Anthrax's guitar players Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano in what could be one of rock's most unusual comings together in recent history.

The band came together through mutual friend David Karon, who will now also play bass in the band. And despite Scott Ian's initial reservations about meeting with Trohman, the pair hit it off immediately and found themselves jamming. Described by Scott as "Kyuss meeting Thin Lizzy", it's uncertain how long the project will take to come into fruition with day job commitments, but all parties are excited about the songs created.

"We just started working on songs together and I really dug it," Scott exclusively revealed to Rock Sound. "It just felt really good. From there we decided that obviously both of us are pretty busy in our day jobs but let's see what we can do with this. Even if it takes us five years to make a record, why not?

"It's super fun and it's something that we do totally take seriously because we love the music we've created. People think of Fall Out Boy and they think of Pete Wentz and Patrick. These two guys, man, they're fucking hardcore dudes. Joe writes some amazing riffs. We have this song called "A Great Reckoning" that I swear to God, this song could be on any Thin Lizzy record. He fucking blew my mind with this song and I just can't wait for people to hear it."

Commenting on the project, Joe told Rock Sound: "Scott's right hand is the reason I got into playing punk rock, hardcore and metal! Having Keith as part of the mix is insane, we all know he writes incredible lyrics but he is also a really good singer. That is showcased in Every Time I Die, but we want him to go more into singing than screaming on this project."

Having already demoed and written over 15 songs, Rock Sound understands recording is scheduled to begin before Christmas. All info about the band to come soon on http://www.thedamnedthings.com.

The Eternal - Enter The Studio Next Week

Under A New Sun has been named as the title for the upcoming album from The Eternal set to see the light of day in 2010. The album will be the follow up to the acclaimed Kartika & also the bands fourth full length album. Revealed song titles include: "Control", "Under A New Sun", "A Thousand Shades of You", "Collapse" and "Cast In Stone" to name a few.

The band have also launched a studio blog which can be viewed at this location.

The band enter 301 Studios in Byron Bay on December 4th. The blog will be updated daily throughout December with pictures and the latest news on the recording process, so be sure to check it out.

Under A New Sun will be produced by Jeff Martin (The Tea Party). Jeff adds this about the album: "I proudly re-introduce The Eternal... The type of band I've been waiting to produce. It's been a year now since Mark and I agreed to embark on a journey that begins this December. For The Eternal this will not be a stepping stone but a launch pad. For me, a creative working relationship that allows me to realise an artist's vision and re-connect with past influences, all the while looking into the future... darkly. I envision an alchemical marriage, a musical landscape anchored by organic rock and roll and infested with industrial overtones. To put things lightly, you're not playing with kids here. The Eternal are the real deal."

The album will be co-engineered by Paul Pilsneniks who has worked with such artists as The Living End, The Mars Volta, Silverchair, Grinspoon & Alanis Morissette, and The Eternal has also enlisted acclaimed Finnish keyboard player Maria Ilmoniemi (Tarja/Husky Rescue) to contribute.

(Thanks to Wolfgirv)

Angra - New Album Due Next Year

After coming back on stage in the beginning of 2009 following a two-year break, Brazilian prog power metal band Angra is currently working at its next studio album to be released in early 2010.

Angra frontman Edu Falaschi comments: "I'm here to tell that Angra already has more than 10 songs in work. These songs promise our album to be phenomenal at the very least! I'm going to try to express how the new album is getting its shape. What became clearer day-by-day, is the Magic in these songs, the romanticism, the aura of the times of hope, the beauty and the finess in the melodies. The technique becomes a real ally of the passion, which permeates every harmony in its most sublime form! These melodies make the breast explode in this feeling of pride and joy. This is the new album of Angra!"
