Détente - New Vocalist Announced

First we want to thank Ann Boleyn (Hellion) for her help with the Détentereunion shows; it was great working with her and we wish her the best in everything she does. We are pleased to announce the addition of Tiina Teal as the new vocalist for Détente.

Originally starting out behind the kit as a drummer, Tiina has been singing & screaming for the last 10 years. Having influences ranging from Jarboe to Nina Simone as well as Strapping Young Lad's Devin Townsend, she's collaborated with various musicians and bands in Los Angeles and won "Best Anti-War Band" with her metal group, Burn The Empire.

We have already put down 4 of the 9 new tracks with her and can tell you that both old and new supporters of the band will be blown away by her and the new tracks. Check back at http://www.detenterna.com and http://www.myspace.com/detenterna in the next few weeks for a sneak preview.

Decline is coming along very well, taking longer than expected but it will be worth it; we should have an official street date announcement mid December.

Sylosis - Recording New Album

Sylosis entered the studio last week to record the follow up to 2008's successful debut Conclusion Of An Age. Again the band is working with Scott Atkins who already worked on the predecessor.

Commented mainman Josh Middleton: "We're ridiculously excited about starting work on the next album. We're definitely progressing as a band, incorporating some new influences to make an album that's more mature, darker and generally a lot heavier. I've been writing riffs thinking things like "what if (Tool guitarist) Adam Jones played guitar in Death" haha. The songs are a little longer this time around and a bit more complex and technical which is something that's just happened naturally.

We're just about to start tracking the drums for ten days with producer Scott Atkins, video]. We contemplated using other producers but we all really enjoyed working with Scott and we were really happy with the production on the last album. He really pushes for tightness and understands where we're coming from musically. In terms of the production, this time we're going to aim for a much more organic, raw sound. Rob 's really progressed as a drummer in the last year so I can't wait to hear him lay this stuff down in the studio. Once the drums are complete we head off on tour with DragonForce so we wont end up recording the guitars, bass and vocals etc until January."

Valkyrja - Reveal Sophomore Album Details

Swedish Black Metallers Valkyrja have finished recordings for their second album Contamination. Again recorded at Necromorbus Studios (Deströyer 666, Watain) with Tore Stjerna at the helm, Contamination is the logical successor to the bands debut album The Invocation Of Demise (re-issued by Metal Blade Records in July 2009). Valkyrja act even more relentless than on their first effort and they have also refined their sense for compelling melodies close to perfection.

The band comments on Contamination as follows: "The two years which have passed since the The Invocation of Demise session has been a hectic period of composing, crafting and some line-up changes. During this last summer Valkyrja manifested the second album. There were no doubts that we would return to Necromorbus Studio, again with Tore Stjerna as producer, and the outcome of this session formed an abominable weapon. January 2010 Metal Blade Records will unleash this dweller of the underworld - by far the strongest material thus far - namely Contamination, a mark of violent and dark Metal for the predator and beast of opposition within man."

Every Black Metal fan in general and followers of Dissection and Naglfar in particular will love the hymnic riffing and the vicious atmosphere Valkyrja unleash on their new album.

Crowned by a top-notch, freezing cold and brutal production, Contamination is indeed the first Black Metal highlight of the new year and makes Valkyrja THE Black Metal band to watch out for in 2010. Contamination will be released all over Europe the 15th/18th of January 2010.

Contamination cover art] tracklist:

01. Advent...
02. Oceans To Dust
03. Catharsis (Contaminate The Earth)
04. Solstice In Withdrawal
05. Laments Of The Destroyed
06. Ambience Of The Dead
07. The Womb Of Disease
08. Welcoming Worms
09. A Cursed Seed In The World
10. The Adversarial Incentive Within All

Angelus Apatrida - Sign Deal With Century Media Records

Century Media Records proudly announces the worldwide signing of the Thrash Metal band Angelus Apatrida, the most promising and threatening metal band from Spain.

This young commando was born in the Spanish town of Albacete in the year 2000 and perfectly combines both the aggression and the melodic edge of classic 80's Thrash Metal with a breathtaking modern southern fury that results in an impressive blend of rage, attitude and a high level of technical skills, rarely seen with young bands like this.

Angelus Apatrida comment on the signing as follows: "We are extremely enthusiastic about this opportunity to show around what we are made of! It's an honour for us to become part of the Century Media Records family, one of the labels with the best reputation worldwide and a home to some of the bands we admire the most and grew up listening to!"

Angelus Apatrida's band name mixes Spanish and Latin language and can be translated into english as "stateless" or "renegade" angels. Influenced by the early Bay Area Thrash Metal and N.W.O.B.H.M. scenes and more specifically bands like Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Anthrax, Overkill, Pantera, Testament or Annihilator, Angelus Apatrida have crafted their career in their Spanish homeland so far with two independent album releases, Evil Unleashed (2006) and Give 'Em War (2007), as well as countless of live-appearances on larger national festivals (Lorca Rock, Alternavigo, Metalway Festival, etc.) and the clubs of most of the country's larger cities with acts like Barón Rojo, Destruction, Sepultura and many more.

Angelus Apatrida are currently finishing the songwriting process for their Century Media debut album, tentatively entitled Clockwork and to be recorded in January 2010. In the meantime, Angelus Apatrida will be supporting labelmates Arch Enemy on their upcoming dates in Spain and Portugal alongside Abigail Williams. Here are the exact dates:

Arch Enemy, Abigail Williams, Angelus Apatrida: Tyrants Of Evil Tour 2009

01.12.2009 - Madrid - Spain - Sala Heineken

Hypocrisy - Forced To Cancel N. American Tour

Hypocrisy have issued the following statement in regards to their tour with Ensiferum and their current troubles with U.S. immigration:

"We regretfully have to officially announce the cancelation of our tour in North America. We've tried everything so far and it seems like the process will take longer than expected for one of the members in the band. We will try to come back as soon as possible, as we want to show our US fans that we care for them and we are ready to play the new songs live!"

Previously Hypocrisy had been in holding mode, fully expecting to join the tour that was already in progress at a later date. In an earlier statement the band explained their situation:

"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are forced to stay home until U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services process and authorize our working visas. This is the first time the band has faced a situation like this and it's extremely frustrating, as well as depressing, since the last thing we want to do is disappoint our loyal fans who have waited years to see us live in the US. We filed for our visas with plenty of time, but as some probably don't know, the US government has changed its rules when it comes to visas issued to artists so it's become tougher. Even if we have already toured the US numerous times."

Hypocrisy had enlisted the help of Children Of Bodom guitarist/frontman Alexi Laiho to temporarily fill the vacant 2nd guitarist spot on this tour alongside Ensiferum, Ex Deo, Blackguard and Swashbuckle.

Svartthron - Two Demo Tracks Online

After releasing Bearer Of The Crimson Flame last summer, Lithuanian black metal band Svartthron didn't tumble into stagnation, but almost all year long nursed his new creation. The main founder of the band Tomhet made some essential changes in process of the band and invited some musicians known from other bands to join the new creation stage. New album will be called Kraujo Estetika (transl. "Blood Aesthetics") in which vocals are done by Levas (Andaja).

At the very beginning it was clear, that there will be no programmed drums in this release, so the seek for the live drummer who would like to colaborate with the album began. The search didn't went too long and drummer (Argharus) took the drum duties. Drum recordings were done in Unitedzeros studio. Furthermore the album "speaks" Lithuanian - all lyrics are done exceptionaly in Lithuanian language. Tomhet didn't limit himself only to these changes and invited Kommander L (Luctus, Fuck Off And Die!) to do some vocal parts in the album. It can be said that all the variations brought in novelty and freshness. Different sound and variety are guaranteed.

Despite all the member changes Svartthron will remain a non-concert band.

Two new demo songs can be found at the official Svartthron MySpace page.
