Mayhem - Members Jailed After Destroying Hotel Room

Members of Mayhem and their crew were arrested Monday morning after allegedly destroying a hotel room in Tilburg, The Netherlands.

The group performed Sunday night at the Hall Of Fame venue in Tilburg and had booked rooms for the night at Hotel Central.

A hotel employee arrived the next morning to find the hotel room to be a complete mess. Plants were thrown out onto the street, mirrors, a sink and bathroom curtains were torn apart and demolished. The beds and television were destroyed and walls were dirty and stained.

Damage was estimated at at least 5000 euros (approximately $7480).

The nine men, aged 21 to 45 years, hail from The Netherlands, Norway, Finland and France. The suspects are currently being held at a local jail and will not be released until they have reimbursed the hotel for repair costs.

The Gates Of Slumber - Winter USA Tour With Pentagram

Two of doom metal's most acclaimed acts will team up for a two week U.S. tour this winter as the legendary Pentagram joins forces with celebrated "True Heavy Metal" band The Gates Of Slumber. The 11 city tour will launch on January 15, 2010 in Springfield, VA.

Armageddon - Two Albums To Be Re-Released

Official press release

Sweden's Armageddon are the melodic metal project of Arch Enemy guitarist Chris Amott and Embrace the Mystery & Three finally sees their second (Embrace the Mystery) and third (Three) albums getting a proper and domestic release outside of Japan, where they originally came out back in the years 2000 and 2002, respectively. Embrace the Mystery & Three will be released as 2CD set with upgraded artwork, several bonus tracks and liner notes on November 16th, 2009 in Europe and on January 26th in North America via Century Media Records.

Chris Amott comments the release as follows: "It is with great pleasure that I announce the first time ever release of these albums in Europe and the US! Any fan of melodic hard rock and shred guitar playing should check this out - Embrace the Mystery and Three feature many great instrumental performances and epic songs! These two albums were recorded in 2000 and 2002 and have until only been available in Japan. I put a lot of work into these recordings at the time, so I am glad to see them come out!"

Originally formed in Halmstad, Sweden in 1997, Armageddon was launched as a melodic death metal act with their debut album Crossing the Rubicon released via the now defunct W.A.R. Records label in Europe and Toy's Factory in Japan. Next to guitarist and mastermind Chris Amott, the album also featured drummer Peter Wildoer (Darkane, Majestic, now also in Pestilence) and bassist Martin Bengtsson, who both then moved on to join Arch Enemy, recording, releasing and touring Arch Enemy's 1998 Stigmata release. Chris revisited Armageddon with 2000's Embrace the Mystery album, once again released in Japan on Toy's Factory but never available internationally. This album presented a rather melodic and traditional metal approach and featured Last Tribe member Rickard Bengtsson on vocals, Dick Lövgren on bass (now member of Meshuggah but previously tour-bassist for bands like Eucharist, Arch Enemy or In Flames) as well as Arch Enemy drummer Daniel Erlandsson (also previously active with Eucharist and In Flames and with the re-united Carcass these days). Following the album's release Armageddon supported In Flames and The Haunted on a Japanese tour, which remain the only live-performances for the band until now. In 2002 Armageddon released their third and so far last album exclusively in Japan again. Simply entitled Three, it showcases Armageddon as a three-piece with Chris Amott handling all vocal duties next to playing guitar as well as Daniel Erlandsson on drums and new bassist Tobias Gustafsson (Eucharist).

Revolution Renaissance - Ex-Hammerfall Bassist Joins The Band

Magnus Rosén (ex-Hammerfall, ex-Jorn, X-World/5) is the new bass player of Revolution Renaissance. The band is currently writing new material for a 2010 release.

A few weeks ago, Revolution Renaissance signed a 3-album deal with Napalm Records. With their strong promotional capabilities and a separate office in the USA, the band is expecting to get much better exposure than with the Age of Aquarius album and also finally do touring.

In the meantime Revolution Renaissance also parted ways with bass player Justin Biggs and the keyboard player Michael Khalilov. According to the band: "During the recordings of Age of Aquarius it became evident to everybody that RR was not the right band for the guys. Justin is more of a thrash guy and Mike expected the music to be something totally different. Out of these reasons the decision has been made that it is better to go separate ways. Both are great guys and the remaining members Timo Tolkki, Gus Monsanto and Bruno Agra wish them well and best of luck on their musical endeavours."

Trees Of Eternity - New Project Of Swallow The Sun Guitarist

Trees Of Eternity came into being when Juha Raivio (Swallow The Sun) and Sweden based singer Aleah got together in the latter part of 2008 to work on a song for the upcoming Swallow The Sun album New Moon. The plan was to to feature Aleah's vocals on part of a song already prepared by Juha, but when they instead began to experiment with a vocal line Aleah had written for the occasion the session quickly headed off in a new direction and the project took on a life on its own.

During summer and autumn 2009 the band worked on completing the demo productions for a four song promo, now available for listening on the band's MySpace page.

01. My Requiem
02. Black Ocean
03. A Million Tears
04. Sinking Ships

While label negotiations take place, work on songs for the album will continue, and samples will be added to this page as work progresses.

The full line-up for the final version of Trees Of Eternity is not yet in place, but so far plans are to include Tobias Sidegård (Necrophobic) on bass and Mike Hellmaker (Maleficio) as second guitarist. Current drums are programmed only for demo purposes!

Ghost Machinery - New Vocalist Found

Finnish power metallers Ghost Machinery have found a new vocalist and are still in search for a new label.

New frontman of the band is Taage Laiho. He's also a vocalist of a well known Finnish band Kilpi, but also known from his work on two Altaria albums. Taage's vocals can be heard on Divinity and The Fallen Empire albums and he also made an extensive European tour with the band in 2006. Kilpi band just released their 5th album, Pirun Merta, and at the moment Kilpi is touring in Finland.

Ghost Machinery was formed by a Pete Ahonen (Burning Point) in 2002 and they released their debut album, Haunting Remains, in December 2004. It was highly praised in the media all over the world and it gained lots of great reviews as well as huge amount of interviews was made during the time of the release.

It might seem to the public that not much activity, but the band has been very active "beneath" the surface and the guys have been in and out from the studio recording the 2nd album Out For Blood. Also the band is very happy that although Taage is a newest member he was able to put his "mark" on the record. Obviously with his great singing but also lyrically he was very much involved.

Currently the band is putting finishing touches to the Out For Blood album and their plan is to release a single at the end of this year.

Sarah Jezebel Deva - Solo Record Out In February

Sarah Jezebel Deva (Angtoria, Cradle Of Filth, Therion) will release her solo album A Sign Of Sublime in February 2010 through Rising Records. The drums on the CD were laid down by Max Blunos, formerly of the UK death metal outfit Trigger The Bloodshed. Other guest musicians that appear on the album include keyboard player Martin Powell (Cradle Of Filth, Anathema, My Dying Bride) and bassist Dave Pybus (Cradle Of Filth).

Regarding the musical direction of her solo debut, Sarah said in September: "It's not another Angtoria, it's not Cradle Of Filth what is it? Hell if I know! Haha... it's music! No label, just me and the people I care about doing music. It's not pompous, it's not over the top. I would like to say it's just a mixture of styles and feelings. Some tracks are fast, almost having a black metal edge, some tracks are slow, almost like a movie film score... and well, it just doesn't all sound the same, it's not blast beats from start to finish, it has feeling, and well, that's it!"

A Sign Of Sublime will include a cover version of Meredith Brooks' "Bitch", which is described by Sarah as "slightly more heavy than the original." She adds, "I did it because I love the song! Simple. It's rock! It don't know if we have added anything to the song or taken anything away. Either way, it was fun to do and that's what music is about."

On the topic of her continuing collaboration with Dave Pybus, Sarah says, "I feel lucky to have one of my best friends work with me on this album. He did Angtoria and, of course, Dave and I have worked together many years in Cradle Of Filth and I am just proud to have someone by my side who doesn't put any restrictions on me and doesn't believe in putting restrictions on music. He is open-minded and fun, loyal and very hard-working and we both have the same vision... to enjoy life and playing."
