Mantric - Sign To Prosthetic Records

Official press release

Prosthetic Records is proud to announce the signing of Mantric to the label for a worldwide, multi-album deal. Formed in 2007 in Oslo, Norway from the ashes of metal pioneers Extol, Mantric takes the visionary songwriting approach of its founding members to new, epic heights.

Fusing a unique, distinctly Scandinavian take on rich, challenging metal and punk with a powerful progressive edge, Mantric recorded their upcoming debut in Norway, with studio guru Tue Madsen (Dark Tranquillity, The Haunted) handling mixing and mastering duties. Prosthetic Records quickly recognized that something rather special was developing and are now very happy to have Mantric as part of their diverse roster.

The as-yet-untitled Mantric debut album is scheduled for worldwide release in February. A special preview track, "Spear Of Heaven," is now online at the official Mantric MySpace page.

Commenting on the signing, Mantric said in a joint statement: "We are truly satisfied to end up signing with Prosthetic! Our first album using the Mantric name to our ears deserves to get out to lovers of hard music all over the world, and Prosthetic makes this possible. We also feel honored to be amongst the quality and variety represented by the bands signed to Prosthetic. Our music embraces creativity and originality outside the limits of narrow genres, so it suits us fine to deal with a label that also values this. This is a release that is both accessible and original, catchy and complex at the same time, and we can't wait to get it out!"

The partnership with Mantric is a significant move for Prosthetic, being the label's first worldwide signing of a European band. Prosthetic's European label manager, Duncan Dinsdale, also commented: "I'm very excited to be working with a band of such pedigree. I've been a huge fan of Extol for a long time, and now Mantric are making truly urgent music that reaffirms my faith in what challenging heavy music should be."

Sabaton - Working On New Album

Sabaton have offered the following update:

"Finally the time has come to make another album. Many people have asked us if it will be another album with war themes, and of course it will. The lyrics based on historical battles has become the mark of Sabaton and we plan not to leave that, at least for now.

And like on the last album we will now ask all of you fans out there if you have any ideas to help us write the album. So, any ideas for songs about battles can be sent to newalbum sabaton net, please include links to informations and facts also. Every idea will be read and considered but please remember that Sabaton is mainly focused on more recent events so please do not ask us to write songs a bout vikings, knights... Other bands do that better than us. Please come with ideas that is more unknown, the perfect concept for a song were the story of the 720 Polish soldiers who inspired us to write the song "40:1". We await your ideas."

Dark Funeral - New Album Title, Tracklist And Cover Art Revealed

Original news, posted on 31.08.2009

Dark Funeral guitarist Lord Ahriman has issued the following studio update:

"Peter Tägtgren is currently mixing our new album at his Abyss Studios. Once we have approved the final mix, Jonas Kjellgren (Scar Symmetry) will be mastering it. By listening to the rough-mix, the final production will kill totally, no doubt! Can't wait to blast the final result in the stereo!

We decided to go for a bit rawer sound this time, and not as crystal clear and perhaps polished as our last album , but no worries. The production still holds the high quality that you would come to expect from us. We haven't done "a Metallica" so to say!

During the last weekend we spent at the Abyss Studio we recorded a video for one of the new tracks. The video was shot in and outside an old and closed mental hospital. The environment was just killer. And besides, it suited the video theme perfect! The video is currently under editing by "Standard Film Team". And within the next 2-3 weeks it should be ready for world premiere. However, due to the graphic violence and somewhat gory nature of the video, I would assume that we will be forced to edit 2 versions, one soft and one hard core version. Exactly how and where we'll release them is yet to be decided though, but we will keep you posted about it of course. The video was shot for a track called "My Funeral".

Now you may wonder what the album will be called. Well, here is another "exclusive" for you... "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus". Estimated release date is set to November 18th."

UPDATED, on 16.09.2009

Leng Tch'e - Studio Update, First Songtitles Revealed

Leng Tch'e are at the halfway mark of the mixing process for our next album so the band figured it would be time to give you guys a little update on how things are going here amidst the rustic scenery of Kettering, UK. The update reads as follows:

"After a seven hour drive across three countries we arrived at Parlour Studio to be greeted by our gracious host Russ Russell. A quick trip to the local supermarket later to stock up on basic supplies (designer water and baby oil) we were back at the studio and setting up our gear so Russ could start dialing in the brutal deathmetal sounds from hell. Towards the evening we settled on a duo of guitar amps - no we're not gonna tell you which ones - and the rest of the night was spent re-amping the guitar lines we recorded back in Belgium. It must be said that Mr Russell is one of the most dedicated and hard working producers we've ever met. And a funny little hairy bastard as well.

The next day we looked for a bass sound and once again Russ was floored by the awesomeness of our gear. Fuck yeah! In the evening we went down to London to catch a Burnt By The Sun show which was pretty fucking awesome, despite the amps acting all English and breaking down every other song. Friday and Saturday we worked on the vocals, in the meantime getting fat and lazy on a steady diet of veggie dogs and obscure English beers. So now it's Sunday, we're even fatter and lazier than when we got here after devouring a ridiculous amount of Chinese food yesterday and Russ has started on the mix of the first songs.

To lift part of the veil, here are some (working) song titles with a short musical description:

"Worldwide Genocide": Probably the opening song. Begins with a fast (surprise!) grind riff followed by a hardrock riff. Why? Because we can.

"Wirehead Imbeciles": Starts out as a grind song and then breaks down into a moshing doom riff if that makes any sense, followed by a swinging d-beat part.

"A.men": Short but sweet grind song with a catchy as fuck hardcore chorus.

And then there's the 9 minute final opus... no we're not kidding this time. This song has a groovy intro, about a minute of grindcore mayhem, a heavy deathmetal riff, a bunch of swinging I-don't-know-what-to-call-them riffs, finally ending in a seemingly neverending spiral of crushing doom.

And that's a fact!"

Hypocrisy - Recruited Children Of Bodom Mainman As Tour Guitarist

Hypocrisy have enlisted the help of Children Of Bodom guitarist/frontman Alexi Laiho for their upcoming North American tour.

Alexi has agreed to temporarily fill the currently vacant guitarist spot on their tour alongside Ensiferum, Hypocrisy, Ex Deo, Blackguard and Swashbuckle.

Hypocrisy mainman Peter Tägtgren commented: "We're very happy to bring Alexi along on this tour and that he's helping us out with filling the 2nd guitarist position. Funny, the first Children Of Bodom show was a support gig for Hypocrisy. Since then me and Alexi have become very good friends. I've helped him with producing and he's helped me by contributing a guitar solo on one of my records with my other band Pain. There will be no shortage of alcohol on this tour that's for sure."

Opeth - Members Involved In Suicide Bus Crash

Earlier this week, Opeth's tour bus crashed into another car that made an unexpected U-turn in the middle of the highway as the band (minus Åkerfeldt, Axenrot, Äkesson who had flown home to Sweden) and their crew were on the way to Brussels/Belgium. Nobody in the band or crew got hurt, but apparently the driver of the other car got critically injured (and passed away later). Opeth will go ahead and play the Brussels date on the 17th as well as the remaining shows of the Progressive nation tour.

Guitarist/vocalist Mikael Åkerfeldt has issued the following: "Myself, Axe, Fredrik and our soundman, Pontus Norgren decided to fly home to our families for a few days as the option would have been three days off in Brussels. Now I hear that our bus apparently crashed into this other car making a unexpected U-turn in the middle of the highway. Mendez and Per were on the bus together with the rest of our crew but nobody got hurt. They are however shocked and very shaken of course. The driver in the other car was critically injured. I've not heard back from anyone yet regarding his progress but apparently it's not looking very good. Hoping for the best however.

I don't know where or when this happened but I know the bus was heading from Dublin to Brussels. I'll let you know more as soon as I get some information, but as for now everyone in the band are safe and same with our crew. As far as I know the only injured person was the driver of the other car, which obviously is horrible enough! To be honest, I rarely think about things, accidents like this, but fuck man, it happens! My mind's all over the place and right now I don't want to go back out. But... the show in Brussels on the 17th and the remaining part of the tour will go ahead as planned."

But now it appears that the Opeth bus accident was actually the result of a suicide: their tour bus crashed into a driver aiming to take his own life. Mikael Åkerfeldt explains: "I just got a text from Mendez who says that the driver of the other car (who made the U-turn) that our bus crashed into, sadly passed away from his injuries. On top of that it seems as if it was a deliberate death-stunt from his side as the police had found a suicide-letter in the car-wreck.

This is just getting more odd and scary, I tell ya. I've no idea who he was but I have to say our condoleances goes out to his family and loved ones anyways either though we don't have a name at this point. I'm kinda lost for words here."

Black Breath - Sign To Southern Lord Recordings

Southern Lord Recordings is eager to announce the official signing of Washington's Black Breath. Their riotous "Razor To Oblivion" MLP is set for re-release on Southern Lord this November 10th, and their debut full-length will see the light of day in early 2010.

Black Breath emerged from dank basements and dive bars in the belly of Bellingham, Washington in 2005. Bored by the region's apathy towards trenchant and punishing music, they combined elements of punk and metal with doses of the garage rock of their hometown. Their sound is acutely classic without being painfully retro; a ripping blend of Bathory, Celtic Frost, Poison Idea and Discharge.

Following a series of demos and a chain of below the radar tours across the continent, the band relocated to Seattle. Without even unpacking the van, Back Breath churned out the "Razor to Oblivion" MLP on their own Hot Mass imprint; a four song affair chock full of anger and distortion. 2009 saw the band touring heavily in support of this release, heading a charge across North America with Victims, Rise And Fall, and Trap Them.

With the Northwest winter casting a dreary shadow over Seattle, Black Breath is proud to announce their partnership with Southern Lord Records. The band's upcoming debut LP was recorded in June 2009 with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Trap Them, Cursed) at GodCity Studios. A much darker beast than previous efforts, the record features equal regiments of Swedish death metal, American heavy metal and sheer blasphemy. Their roadshow will hit the pavement in 2010. The band have a show coming in November with D.R.I., with more to be announced soon.

Orden Ogan - Sign With AFM Records

AFM Records presents a new high-class addition to its roster: Orden Ogan. The Melodic/Power/Folk Metal band from Arnsberg, Germany, is one of Europe´s hottest prospects of the last years. Orden Ogan have released their first own-pressed CD "Testimonium A.D." in 2004, to critical acclaim. Their label debut album "Vale" then followed in February 2008, with again critics praising the band´s undenieable qualities. Despite all their traditional Metal roots, the band never becomes stereotype, but sounds fresh and up-to-date. Symphonic keyboards melt into grinding guitar riffs, bombastic choirs and orchestral arrangements create an impressive wall of sound.

The new Orden Ogan album "Easton Hope" will be released in early 2010. It will be the band´s first world wide release. In August Orden Ogan already uploaded their new video clip ?We Are Pirates", which can we viewed here. The song was used by Germany´s biggest TV station RTL for several trailers that aired during the station´s Formula 1 broadcast. More info on the new hopefuls of German Metal can be found here.

The band comments: "We always wanted to have a label that really believes in the band and gives 110% for Orden Ogan. We're very happy to announce that we signed in with AFM records and are absolutely sure that this is the right decision and the right Partner for Orden Ogan. AFM are one of the leading German metal labels as you can see when you take a look at the roster: Doro, Destruction, U.D.O. and so on... We're very proud to be part of the family now and are looking forward to our years and releases at AFM. Our new record "Easton Hope" will be released January 2010."
