Pain - Update From The Band

For those wondering what the hell is going on in the Pain camp, the Swedish metallers have released the following statement:

"Well... It's been a while since the last update and we thought it was about time to let you in on a couple of things.

The last couple of months every one of us has been pretty busy with anything but Pain. As you may know Peter has been concentrating on Hypocrisy this year and recently came home from a successful tour in South America. David, who just got signed up with Zildjian, is working for Unique Pyrotechnic along with doing a lot of different stand-in club shows in Sweden. Johan became a dad in August (best wishes from us all), and the more time spent away from Pain means the more time spent with his family. Michael is working with different side projects along with his work for Digidesign.

Now, the following months will be dedicated to Pain and to finish the new songs. Up till today 8 songs are more or less ready to go, and at least 3 or 4 more are needed before we can start recording. Our plans are to start the recordings in late 2010 or early 2011, and have the album ready for a world wide release sometime in May 2011. After that we're about to hit the road and do as many of the summer festivals as we can. Of course there will be a headline tour as well, and if everything works out we'll even break new grounds. Work has also begun with designing a new stage set that will be something out of the average.

As you may understand we're more eager than ever to record this album, make it the best, and play it for you live. So stay tuned and visit our websites for continuous information, studio reports, album details, and the first showdates for 2011."

Exhumed - Have Entered The Studio

Gore-metal originators Exhumed are currently in the studio recording their first full-length album since 2003's Anatomy Is Destiny.

Exhumed guitarist/vocalist/founder Matt Harvey, bassist Leon DelMuerte and guitarist Wes Caley are currently at Arcane Digital Recording in Arizona working with engineer Ryan Butler (Misery Index) to record vocals, bass and guitar tracks. Exhumed drummer Danny Walker previously laid down his drum tracks at Trench Studios with John Haddad (Abysmal Dawn, Intronaut). Mixing and mastering will be handled by Brian Elliott (Graves Of Valor) at Mana Recording Studios (Cannibal Corpse, Goatwhore, Nile).

Matt Harvey recently checked in from the studio with the following update: "So far we're really psyched on what's been oozing out of the speakers! The guitars are sounding really aggressive right out of the box. I can't wait to get into the vocals and flesh out the songs. We have 18 songs to work through while we're here and then we'll sort through and cherry-pick the heaviest, ugliest tracks for the new record, which is gonna be titled All Guts, No Glory. I think it builds on all the best shit from our first three records and should disgust and revolt any poseurs out there!"

All Guts, No Glory is expected to see a spring 2011 release date. Additional, detailed studio updates will be posted on the band's MySpace page, Facebook page, and new blog.

Exhumed has confirmed that their first North American appearance in support of the new album will be as part of Maryland Deathfest 2011.

This album marks In Flame's first without founding member, guitarist Jesper Strömblad, who quit the band earlier this year to seek help for his alcohol addiction.

Communic - Issue Update On New Album

Norwegian metallers Communic are currently preparing the final writing details for their follow-up to 2008's Payment Of Existence. The band is planning to start the recording process early 2011. The band is hoping for a June 2011 release.

Comments guitarist/vocalist Oddleif Stensland: "I am really excited about this new material that we have put together for this new album. There is still some work left, but we are getting closer. I think the heaviness of these songs will surprise many of you, and the overall feeling of it, is way darker this time. The songs are shorter, more in your face and may seem straight forward at first, but there are many twists and turns that will just creep under your skin. This album is DEEP!

I know that many of you have been waiting for this album for a long time already, but everything has its time, and the time is now. Never before have I left so much of "myself" in our songs - never before has the price been so high - this album will be really special".

Transcending Bizarre? - New Album Due Next Month

Transcending Bizarre? will finally release their new album, The Misanthrope's Fable, on November 19th via Dissonart Productions.

The album recording was finished in July, and was mixed by Dim Douvras (Rotting Christ, Rex Mundi) at Lunatech Studios. The artwork was created by Anestis Goudas (Derz.oth Design) and based on the paintings of Jesse Pepper. Vocalist Bjørnar E. Nilsen from Vulture Industries participates in the song "The Empire of Mind".

The band stated earlier: "We believe that this album is our DARKEST and most complete creation so far. The symphonic avant-gardism of our latest release joins the experimental black metal psychedelia of our debut album and the result is a concept album of nightmarish atmosphere and severe eclecticism."

Haris shares the following words about the forthcoming release: "This is the first time that we've created a CONCEPT album, both musically and lyrically. There are lots of melodic themes and lyrics that repeat themselves throughout the album with all songs contributing to the main story. The vocals are more diverse than ever and we have also recorded some themes with the help of a CHILDREN's choir as an attempt to enhance the horror and the unearthly atmosphere of the music. I hope the final result satisfies our fans."

The album will contain the last drum parts played by S.A.Akis, who passed away in June, due to a congenital heart disease.

A new track, called "The Beginning" and an album medley are available for streaming on the band's MySpace.

The Misanthrope's Fable cover art] tracklist:

01. The Misanthrope's Fable

James LaBrie - North American Tour Cancelled

Ealier this month, we reported about James LaBrie's first solo headlining tour in five years. But now it seems he is forced to cancel the North American trek. The following statement was released regarding the cancellation:

"It is very difficult for what I am about to say. The Static Impulse Tour has been cancelled due to some unfortunate, unforeseen difficulties with securing work visas for a couple of the guys. It would be virtually impossible for us to have these visas processed on time to begin the tour let alone the rehearsals which were scheduled for the week prior to the first show.

I don't know what to say other than we are all in shock and can only hope we can make this a reality at some point in the near future. I am really sorry to everyone who has gone out and purchased the meet and greets and show tickets. This totally sucks and I'm sure you're all quite upset and have every right to be. I can only ask for your understanding and forgiveness and assure you that when we are in a position (hopefully in the near future) to tour all of this will have been taken care of well in advance or it just won't happen."

Static Impulse was released in North America on September 28 (one day earlier internationally) via InsideOut Music. Need more album details? Click here.

Virgin Steele - New Song Online

You can now listen to "By The Hammer Of Zeus (and the Wrecking Ball of Thor)", a new song coming off Virgin Steele's new album The Black Light Bacchanalia, exclusively at Noisecreep.

Vocalist David DeFeis tells Noisecreep: "This track is a good representation of the barbaric-romantic style of the group. It is raw, primitive and aggressive, yet also bombastic, majestic and progressive. It is dark and serious, but it still cooks and maintains its sensuality."

"But before you listen, understand what the song is after on a conceptual level". DeFeis continues, "The lyrics are about the coming of the mountain-fire god, and his hatred and fear of the goddess, and his usurpation of her powers. The opening line sums up how the creation of this album went, and it also sums up the 'never surrender' Virgin Steele spirit: 'Pain is me and I'm relentless.'"

Psycroptic - Temporary Vocalist Announced For N. American Tour

Psycroptic will be joined by guest vocalist Zdenek Simecek (Godless Truth) on their upcoming US tour with Nile, Ex Deo, Keep Of Kalessin and Pathology. Vocalist Jason Peppiatt will be unable to join the band on the tour due to the imminent arrival of his newborn son.

"A month or so after we confirmed the US tour I was greeted with the excellent news that I would be a new father, halfway through the tour no less," commented Peppiatt. "Since I could not miss the birth, and I couldn't exactly drive from the US to Tasmania, I talked it through with the rest of the guys and decided to ask Zdenek in to fill for the last tour of the Ob(servant) album for me. Zdenek has been a long time friend of the band and is a super talented vocalist, so I'm happy to have him in my shoes for this run. I'll be working hard demoing the new material while at home (as well as changing nappy's), and I'll see you all in 2011!"

Fresh on the heels of Psycroptic's successful first ever co-headlining tour of Europe with Cephalic Carnage on the Initiation of the Misled tour, the band are set to embark on a comprehensive North American tour supporting death metal legends Nile on their upcoming tour. Along with Pathology and fellow Nuclear Blast Label Mates, Ex Deo and Keep Of Kalessin, the US tour will cover cities from Coast to Coast throughout October, November and December.

After what has been a mammoth touring schedule for 2010, that has also included China, Inner Mongolia, Australia and New Zealand, the band will head into the studio at the beginning of 2011 to record the highly anticipated follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed (Ob)Servant. Songwriting for the new album is well under way and will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Psycroptic really are Australia's premier extreme metal band.
