Arch Enemy - 'The Root Of All Evil' Artwork Unveiled

The band posted the following words on their myspace :

"On September 28th, 2009 ARCH ENEMY will release their new studio album "The Root Of All Evil" in Europe. It contains a selection of completely re-recorded tracks from the band's first three albums "Black Earth" (1996), "Stigmata" (1998) and "Burning Bridges" (1999) reenergized and unified by the band's ultimate line-up!

Originally recorded with ever changing band members (i.e. former vocalist Johan Liiva, drummer Peter Wildoer, bass player Martin Bengtsson), "The Root Of All Evil" presents classic tracks as "Beast Of Man", "The Immortal", "Transmigration Macabre" or "Bridge Of Destiny" with the insane vocals of Angela Gossow, several completely new bass lines by Sharlee D'Angelo, the ever-present guitar wizardry of the Amott brothers as well as Daniel Erlandsson's merciless punch. The entire project was approached with the idea of having the possibility to re-add these songs to the bands live set and follow up the release with some special touring activity.

The album was recorded at a few different locations in Sweden and produced by ARCH ENEMY with Daniel Erlandsson and Rickard Bengtsson handling the engineering. Finally, this special release was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap. In the light of ARCH ENEMY finding their defining line-up and a bigger worldwide recognition with 2002's "Wages Of Sin" album, it has been a logical decision to update the earlier compositions and present them in the splendour of a 2009 shape.

The band chose to have the "The Root Of All Evil" artwork/layout created by Brazilian artist Gustavo Sazes."

The album artwork can be found here.

Paradise Lost - New Album Title And Cover Art Revealed, Title Track Online

Original news, posted on 19.06.2009

British gothic metal pioneers Paradise Lost have named their upcoming new album "Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us". Vocalist Nick Holmes comments:

"The thoughts behind the title "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" are very much self explanatory, there is so much division in the world caused by obstructing religious belief. We are all made of the same flesh and bone, what makes one religions better than the other, and would any true god allow his creation to destroy itself? The vast number of different so called faiths around the globe, just helps to strengthen my complete denial of any god, and force the belief that religion is nothing more than a man made cash induced fabrication to exploit a human beings natural fear of death."

"Faith Divides Us Death Unites Us", the highly anticipated follow-up to 2007's "In Requiem" will be released on Century Media Records in September 2009! Expect the band's darkest and heaviest effort to date!

In May 2009, Paradise Lost also released their demos "Paradise Lost" (1988) and "Frozen Illusion" (1989) accompanied by six live tracks from the "Plains Of Desolation" bootleg officially on CD for the very first time. Featuring extensive liner notes by vocalist Nick Holmes and a stunning vinyl replica packaging, the strictly limited "Drown In Darkness - The Early Demos" is a must-have for every Paradise Lost fan.

You can now watch a personal introduction into the earliest days of the band at the following link.

UPDATE (thanks to 15393)

A brand new Paradise Lost track, entitled "Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us", has officially been launched at the band's MySpace page.

"Faith Divides Us - Death Unites Us" is the title track from the band's forthcoming album, which will be released on September 28 in Europe (October 6 in the US) via Century Media Records.

The cover artwork, which is based upon a Danse Macabre woodcut by Hans Holbein the Younger (first published in 1538), was created by Stefan Wibbeke at Medialogistics (Lacuna Coil, Poisonblack, etc.).

Nick Holmes (vocals) comments on the track as follows: "This song had a massive overhaul in the last few weeks before recording, and thankfully it worked out well. Unlike many bands, we try to know exactly what we are doing once we are in the studio. So re-writes near recording time are as scary as they can be can be rewarding. This song is swathed in melancholy and the closest thing on the album to a "ballad" perhaps. Lyrically the title says it all. I find faith an oddity in that some people may have such devout belief that the only common ground with another human is death itself."

Visions Of Atlantis - Part Ways With Female Singer, Replacement Announced

Austrian metallers Visions Of Atlantis have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"It's right, Joanna Nieniewska was forced to leave the band a few weeks ago! The reason is a health-problem which should not be specified more detailed, but makes it impossible for her to complete a whole show on stage without risk. But because of the grown big friendship within the band during the last months the band is not willing her to leave totally and so we came to the point that at least Joanna has to be on the road with us when she can't sing with the band anymore and so in future she'll be on tour with us, helping us backstage and doing other important things to bring her support and energy into the band, although it's another way now!

There are no other reasons besides that, although we already had to read different stories on the internet, which are simply not true. As long as you can't read it on the offical Visions Of Atlantis homepage or MySpace it's absolutely not official and does not come directly from the band or the nearest band-environment!

But now to the good news:

The good news besides all that is, that we were able to find an absolute suitable substitute for Joanna within the extremely short time! Her name is Maxi Nil, she's from Greece and she has already worked with Moonspell for instance and brings fresh energy and enthusiasm into the band! She was very fast in practising the material for the shows on metalcamp and with Tarja Turunen and we are already looking forward happily in doing future shows and tours with her!

Because of all those things the recordings for the new Visions Of Atlantis album are delayed a bit at the moment, but we did much work between the live shows now and so we're very optimistic to finish pre-production very soon. Afterwards we'll finally enter the studio to record our fourth album.

We hope that you all welcome Maxi Nil warmly as the newest member of Visions Of Atlantis and that you can understand us and our decision, which is the best for everyone involved!"

Setherial - New Album Update

Regarding their forthcoming album, entitled "Ekpyrosis", Swedish metallers Setherial have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"We have now recorded six drum tracks and this time we decided to go for a fully acoustic drum sound using no triggers or other modules.

This week we will continue with the drums and also continue with the guitars and vocals. We are aiming for a much more organic production with this album since it fits the overall concept and the pre-productions we've done sound extremely promising.

The lyrical theme of "Ekpyrosis" is about a metaphoric connection to the unavoidable conflict of the universe, through the satanic angle and perspective. The Ekpyrotic Universe draws its name from the ancient Greek word ekpyrosis, meaning "conflagration" (disastrous fire or conflict). According to an ancient cosmological model with this name, the universe was created in a sudden burst of fire.

A tribute to the complete obliteration spiral of all particles that is ever created where the allseeing/alldestroying eye of Satans singularity is represented by the destructive forces and dark energy of this vast, unknown universe.

We are currently also working with different ideas for layout and we will present it to the public as soon as we has made a decision of which artwork to use.

Some of the song titles on the album:

Seven Are They
Thoughts Of Life They Wither
The Devouring Eye
Firestorms Over Haar-Megiddo
The Neural Cage Of Selfinfliction
Subsequent Emissions From A Frozen Galaxy

More news and short samples of the album will come soon."

Syrach - Part Ways With Bassist, Replacement Announced

Norwegian metallers Syrach have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

"Our release party on friday will be the last ever chance to see all 5 persons from the new album, live on stage. As you all know, Reich quit some time ago but will still play this gig on friday. Also Hjarandr decided to leave the band now, because he wanted to focus on his interest in food and will now try to get a degree as a chef. We wish him the best of luck with this, and hope that someday he will cook us another great meal as he did on our listening party at Captain's cabin.

"Hjarandr" spent about seven years with us and has been a great tribute to our ranks. We have had some great times together and been through a lot. We are sorry to let this great man of doom go, but his mind is set and we have to respect this. We'll be sure to get some beers together in the future anyway.

We are at the same time proud to announce his replacement in Øystein K. Øystein played with us on our European tour in October and is a very good bass player and friend of us, so we are very glad to have him on board our ship.

And as for a new guitarist, we'll start auditioning in august. we'll keep you posted!"

Dark Fortress - Begin Recording New Album

The following update was issued on Century Media Records website:

"After months of intense songwriting Dark Fortress entered V. Santura's Woodshed Studio a couple of days ago to start laying down the drum tracks for their 6th, still untitled studio album. The follow up to 2008's acclaimed album "Eidolon" is scheduled to be released in early 2010 via Century Media Records."

V. Santura further comments: "The recordings are going very smooth so far and the drums sound just fantastic. Seraph is doing a really great job. This time we are aiming for a more natural and dynamic sound in order to keep all musical details, a certain raw dirt and personality that most modern productions lack of. Our upcoming album is going to be very diverse and probably the heaviest material we ever wrote."

Trigger The Bloodshed - Drummer Leaves The Band, Replacement Announced

UK Death metallers Trigger The Bloodshed have issued the folowing update on their MySpace blog:

"Some of you may of heard rumors flying around over the recent weeks about Max leaving the band; we can now confirm that these rumors are true. For a little while Max has felt he has not been fulfilling the genre of music he wanted to persue with a band, although he has enjoyed every moment with trigger he just felt his heart was not in the music and has gone on to fill this void playing and creating music in a genre he is more passionate about. There are no hard feelings between Max and the band, he is still one of our best friends and we wish him all the luck and success in the world with his future projects.

Now comes the question of who is to replace him. After speaking to a few people and trying out a few promising musicians we were contacting drummer Dan Wilding of legendary death metal band Aborted who offered his services to fill in for us during our upcoming Dominatour, after e-mails back and forth Dan expressed interest in taking over the drums full time and it's as simple as that really.

"Dan learnt the songs, came to practice and he was the drummer for Trigger from the time the stick hit the skin for the first blast beat of the great depression. We are stoked to have Dan join the band and he has fitted in straight away and we can't wait to hit the road with him and play some fucking heavy riffs. Make sure you come check us out with Dan over the next month on the Dominatour along side Annotations Of An Autopsy, Burning Skies and Viatrophy.

And for those of you who don't know Dan or his skills on a kit hears a little video to wet your appetite.

More updates coming soon.
Cheers,
TTB"

Metsatöll - Begin Recording New Album

Estonian metallers Metsatöll have issued the following update on their official website:

"Last week, Metsatöll finished recording the demo version of their 4th album, which was begun earlier, in March. In mid-June, the entire studio was moved from Tallinn to a South-Estonian village of Hargla, where the songs received finishing touches. According to the guys themselves, leaving Tallinn behind meant a complete recovery of creativity, which can never be achieved in a big city.

Today (July 28), the band begins recording their 4th album in the Finnvox studio in Finland. The album is recorded and mixed by perhaps the most legendary Finnish producer Mikko Karmila. Over the years, he has provided his services to such bands as Nightwish, Children Of Bodom, Stratovarius, Stone, Peer Günt, Kotiteollisuus, Amorphis, Waltari, Tarot, Sonata Arctica, etc. The album will be all about finished by early December, and will be released to the global distribution networks on 6 March, 2010."

Mael Mórdha - New Album Details

Irish metallers Mael Mórdha have issued the following update on their MySpace blog:

We can't be sure of a release date just yet, but we are extremely excited about this album and really want to get it out there as soon as possible.

We also want to get back playing live shows and there are some plans in the works in that regard at the moment. Does anyone fancy partying with us in Ireland in October?"

02. The Summoning
03. The Doom Of The Races Of Éire
04. Our Ancestors Dwell Here
