Nightrage - Working On New Album

Sweden's Nightrage have issued the following update:

"As you know, we are currently writing songs for our forthcoming album. It has now been confirmed that these songs will be recorded, produced, and mixed by our old friend Fredrik Nordström (Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, In Flames) at Studio Fredman.

We are more than happy to work with Fredrik again, the man that helped us so much on the first two albums, "Sweet Vengeance" and "Descent Into Chaos". We feel that his help will be the return to form we've been searching for. We are coming back to the guy with the magical sound, and we can't wait to start recording and later share this music with you our fans.

The studio has moved once again very close to the downtown in Gothenburg. We will enter the studio in February 23 and we won't leave until March 13! That's a lot of time for Antony to eat a lot of Turkish Pizza!!!!! Marios will cook his nice Greek dishes, Olof will do his laundry, Anders and Jo will fight for who is recording first!

Also we can let you know that another brother of ours, Gus G. Firewind, ex-Nightrage] will be making a guest appearance on the new album as well. So expect some crazy three way soloing from the Nightrage guitar team! Lots of crazy riffs and ethereal melodies done the Nightrage way."

Nightrage's new album, "Wearing a Martyr's Crown", will be released in June 2009 via Lifeforce Records. Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "The Failure of All Human Emotions", "Among Wolves", "Opposite in Black", "Abandon", "Shed the Blood", "Wearing a Martyr's Crown" and "Mocking Modesty".

Lamb Of God - New Album Details

Lamb Of God will release their fifth studio album "Wrath", on February 24th, 2009. The record will be released in North America by Epic and will be the first release with their new label Roadrunner, outside of North America. "Wrath" is produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire.

Lamb Of God finished the touring cycle on the Grammy nominated album "Sacrament" at the end of 2007. The two-year trek was documented in the now certified Gold DVD "Walk with Me in Hell" and culminated with the band headlining arenas across the US last December.

The band has taken the entirety of 2008 off the road to focus on the writing process for "Wrath".

"This album is going to surprise a lot of people," comments drummer Chris Adler. "Typically bands that get to where we are in our career begin to slack off, smell the roses and regurgitate. We chose a different path. No one wants to hear another band member hyping a new record. "Wrath" needs no hype. We have topped ourselves and on February 24th you will feel it."

As always, Lamb Of God will embark on an extensive tour that will cover the globe. As previously announced, the band will be supporting Metallica on the December leg of their tour. The first leg of the "Wrath" world tour will start in Finland on February 6th and will encompass dates in the UK, Australia, and Japan.

Current confirmed dates are:

02/06/09 Frostbite Festival - Finland
02/08/09 Belfast - Mandela Hall
02/09/09 Dublin - Academy
02/11/09 Bristol - Academy
02/12/09 Birmingham - Academy
02/13/09 Manchester - Academy
02/14/09 London - Brixton Academy

Trail Of Tears - To Enter Studio In November

Original news, posted on 07.08.2008

Trail Of Tears have posted the following update:

"It is with great pleasure that we announce that Trail of Tears will enter Soundsuite Studio in Marseille, France with acclaimed producer Terje Refsnes on November 3rd 2008 to start recording our sixth studio album! The band expects to spend six weeks tracking the yet untitled effort which will be released worldwide on Napalm Records in early 2009.

Comments vocalist Ronny Thorsen:

"We are beyond stoked to enter the studio again at Soundsuite with our fellow Norwegian Terje Refsnes. This will be our third album recording in beautiful Marseille and we are boiling over with creativity and excitement! So far we have about 14 songs ready, with an additional four or five on the drawing board. It will be a difficult challenge to figure out which ones will end up on the final product but definitely something we look forward to."

Due to the preparations, the band has also decided to postpone the planned South American tour in September/October.

Vocalist Ronny Thorsen said:

"We hope that everyone will understand and support this decision as it is the only right one for the circumstances. We want to deliver a full production and a killer live experience when we finally come to South America and not some amputated half-assed shows. It is a known fact that it takes a considerable amount of time to organise such a tour in South America as opposed to Europe, not to mention finding the right promoters. Our main priority now is to set our minds 100% into making this album as astonishing as it has to be and therefore we see no other alternative than to postpone the tour. Please note that we are using the word postpone here, we WILL reach your shores after the new album is released to give you a show that you as well as the band deserves!"

UPDATE (thanks to Abattoir)

As previously announced, Trail Of Tears will be recording a new album. Here is the latest news from the band:

"The studio session for our new album has officially started in Sound Suite Studio in Marseille, France! We will spend six weeks in the company of producer Terje Refsnes recording this, our 6th album and we are really stoked about the material at hand. The plan is to record 16-17 songs in which we will pick 11 or 12 to be featured on the final product. There will also be a limited edition of the album which will include bonus tracks as well as different packaging. Mastering duties will as usual be handled by Mika Jussila at Finnvox Studios in Finland and the album will see a world-wide release next year through Napalm Records."

Cannibal Corpse - New Album Details Released

Metal Blade Records press release

Tampa, FL's godfathers of death metal, Cannibal Corpse have dubbed "Evisceration Plague" as the title to the group's brand new studio album due out on February 3rd, 2009. "Evisceration Plague" marks the follow up to the bands extremely successful 2006 release "Kill" (debuted at #170 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart), which has become the fastest selling Cannibal album in the band's storied career as well as highest selling album since 1996's "Vile" (debuted at #151 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart). To capture the speed, ferocity, and musicianship that Cannibal Corpse has become known for the band decided to head back Mana Recording Studios with producer Erik Rutan (who also produced "Kill") at the helm.

Bassist Alex Webster comments, "In Cannibal Corpse our goal has always been to try and make each new album we record our heaviest. That goal was a bit more challenging this time since we were extremely satisfied with our last album "Kill", but we knew that by working with producer Erik Rutan at Mana Recording Studios again, we would be able to start at that same level of heaviness and take it even further. Now that we can hear the finished product, I would say we've been able to achieve this goal, and I think our fans will agree. "Evisceration Plague" has the best guitar sound we've ever recorded, and the entire band has never played with more precision and power. We can't wait until you all get a chance to hear the album in early 2009, because we think you'll be as happy with it as we are."

Keep an eye on the Cannibal Corpse MySpace page for more updates on the upcoming album "Evisceration Plague", a new track, and upcoming tour dates.

"Evisceration Plague" Track Listing:

01. Priests of Sodom
02. Scalding Hail
03. To Decompose
04. A Cauldron of Hate
05. Beheading and Burning
06. Evidence in the Furnace
07. Carnivorous Swarm

Phideaux - Recording Of New Album Finished

As Phideaux report on their MySpace page:

"The recording is finished!

Dang it! I listened through the whole blasted album today with maestro producer Gabriel Moffat. Number Seven is now finished. All 60something minutes... And all we have to do is mix it! Of course, that is the hardest part, trying to ensure that all the ingredients add up to souffle and not leftover stew!

And so, regard our crafty new advert to get a hint of Number Seven - the story of life's never ending battle between the land and sea. We came from the oceans onto land -- have we been trying to go back ever since? Are we in danger of being overtaken by a legion of crafty crayfish? Is there, in fact, more earth than sea?

All this and more will be answered in our thrilling new dose of Phideaux music. Carefully constructed with the help of computer simulations and scientific research, this album has been formulated to resemble as closely as possible all your favourites. We have utilized the finest style consultants to ensure that our NEW SOUND will blend in thoroughly with the rest of the top acts in our field.

And soon, you the listener, can bask in the fruits of our labour.

We can now reveal the song titles, and the approximate running times:

1. Dormouse - a theme (1:05)
2. Waiting For The Axe To Fall (19:20)
3. Darkness At Noon (4:00)
4. Gift Of The Flame (6:00)
5. Thermonuclear Cheese (2:30)
6. The Search For Terrestrial Life (8:30)
7. Love Theme from "Number Seven" (14:20)
8. Infinite Supply (5:05)
9. Dormouse - an end (2:00)

As promised, no animals (surf or turf) were harmed in this production. We also maintained a strict adherence to using only the musicians in the ten member band Phideaux. You will find NO PESKY ORCHESTRA here.

And the best news of all is that this album contains NO 20 MINUTE EPICS. The only thing we ask is that you consider whether you would vote for the Shrew or the Crayfish. It is a battle to the death, and you will want to be on the winning side.

Let us all hope and prey that this album can be mixed and mastered before the end of 2008. We don't want to break our run of an album every year!"

Old Man's Child - New Album Recorded

Century Media records have confirmed that Norwegian melodic black metal masters Old Man's Child are back at last... and with a vengeance.

The band led by guitarist / vocalist Galder (Dimmu Borgir) just returned to their Norwegian home from a trip to Gothenburg, Sweden, where they spent some weeks laying down the new unholy compositions at Studio Fredman with Fredrik Nordström, who had previously worked with the band on their "In Defiance Of Existence" (2003) and "Vermin" (2005) albums.

The new Old Man's Child studio album's title has not yet been revealed, but the release will feature Peter Wildoer (Darkane, ex-Arch Enemy, Pestilence, etc.) on drums and having freshly finished his takes for the total of 9 classy new songs, here is Peter's comment on the material and the recording session:

"After having being asked to be part of the new OMC album, I obviously went back and listened to the previous releases of the band, so I now am able to say that in my opinion, these new 9 songs are the best material I have heard of the band so far. There is a lot of more variety going on and the album will sound bigger than any other OMC record before.

As far as my performance goes, this is probably the best drumming I have ever recorded so far. I am extremely happy and proud of the session and there's a lot more double bass and blast beats on here than you have normally heard me doing, so look out for this great record!"

Benediction - Enter The Studio In January

British extreme metallers Benediction have posted the following message, including a tour recap and future plans:

"First off, a big thank you to everybody that turned up to the shows on the tour. Also apologies to the few shows that got cancelled, this was beyond our control due to tour bus issues, fire, breaking down etc etc! A special mention has to go out to Holy Moses and Nominon, who we are privileged to know and stuck together when all manner of shit was happening to us all on tour. In particular we would like to thank Holy Moses guitarist Michael who managed to fix just about everything that we broke on the tour! We love you matey.

Now then, our plans for 2009. Benediction will be going into the studio again in January/February to record the follow up to "Killing Music". It is now written and it"s down to the fine tuning and choosing what tracks to be on the final recording. To promote this release the band will only be doing festivals and one off shows worldwide except for a Balkans tour which was missed out on the "No Reunion Required" tour. It will be our 20th anniversary as a band in 2009 and we intend to make some sort of event for ourselves for it.

The reason for just festivals? Being on a tour bus limits where you can get to country wise. A plane flight can get you anywhere in the world much quicker which means reaching more people to distribute the metal to! After this there are no plans. Let's see how much mayhem we can create on our 20th anniversary festival tour and see who comes out of it alive before any new plans are hatched."
