Heaven And Hell - Tribute Show To Ronnie James Dio

Heaven And Hell have confirmed a tribute show to the late Ronnie James Dio at the High Voltage Festival in London on Saturday 24th July 2010.

An announcement on the band's website reads as follows: "On the 16th May 2010 Ronnie James Dio passed away and the world of music mourned the loss of the greatest voice of heavy metal. Dio was a truly iconic figure in music, whose work with Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Dio and most recently Heaven And Hell defined a genre.

Heaven And Hell were set to be on the road in Europe this summer when news came through that despite the amazing progress he was making Ronnie wouldn't be well enough to tour and those shows were cancelled. But now, remaining members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set to play a one off-show to celebrate his life and work. The band will be completed by Glenn Hughes and Jorn Lande who will both contribute vocals. Former Deep Purple/Black Sabbath star Glenn Hughes was a close friend of Ronnie's for many years and performed a musical tribute at Ronnie's funeral service in Los Angeles. Norwegian Jorn Lande is best known in the UK as the vocalist for power metal band Masterplan, he has also released many solo albums including a tribute to Ronnie. It promises to be a fitting celebration to a man that the metal scene owes so much.

Says Geezer Butler: "It's going to be a very emotional occasion. Ronnie loved his fans like no-one else I know - and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing a gig in honour of his memory, and to help towards his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance of a cure. I know everyone has heard that a million times before, but seeing one of your best friends die because we all think we're immune from this disease, really brings it home. Do it for yourself, your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud of you."

Tony Iommi says: "Ronnie's passing has left a huge hole, we hadn't anywhere near finished what we set out to do as a band together. He was so looking forward to the European tour and we hope this appearance will go some way to fulfilling that."

Tickets for the High Voltage Festival are priced £135 (for weekend tickets) and £75 (for day tickets). All info and the full line-up is available here.

Aye a strange comment indeed, must be a witchdoctor or something...
anyway, a classy move from H&H playing a tribute show for Dio, especially since the proceeds will benefit cancer research

Everything he doesn't like is metalcore. Britney Spears, Elton John, Michael Moore, and green beans are also metalcore, in case you guys didn't know.

Do you remember Linda McCartney? She was an advocate of veganism and...she died of cancer. As far as I know, no serious study has proven, without a shadow of doubt that avoiding animal products was assuring 100% that you wouldn't get cancer.

I think smoking cigarettes, drinking to much, pollution and the destruction of the ozone layer are far more dangerous than animal products. Anyway, some notorious vegans like Travis Barker have had to abandon veganism when they had to recover from injuries. I think that's the proof that fish, seafood, meat, eggs, milk and cheese are not so bad for your health. And btw, that's when humans started to scavenge meat and to fish and hunt later that human intelligence develloped. Animal proteins are necessary to human beings. You vegans want us to go against our nature and become stupid cows.

I would say: add an healthy dose of vegetables to your regime, do not always eat the same shit (diversity is fun), avoid junk food, try not to drink too much and smoke too much and MOVE and you'll reduce the risks of cancer.

And that show's gonna be awesome.

This is a nice move to perform in honor of Ronnie James Dio. It is also nice how money is going toward cancer combatting.

She went vegetarian like half way through her life..
Dairy is a leading factor in the development of breast (like Linda) and prostate cancers.
Travis Barker was a vegetarian. If you say that is 'proof' from what his doctors said then you don't really know much about science. Or the way protein develops to form skin tissue. Protein can be found in many foods and there is nothing unique to animal products that means we 'need' them.. even B12, omega 3 and omega 6 occur separately to animal products. This is called the 'protein myth' and it is popularly debunked much to the dismay of the meat industry.
The majority of stuff like beef and chicken is fried or deeply cooked and this is a leading cause of bowel cancer and of course obesity.
Seafood definitely was a factor in human brain development and they know this for certain. I eat some seafood. However as much iron can be found in vegetable products so it really isn't a strong argument. Also humans lack many of the best features in digesting animal products. You don't need a degree in anthropology to understand this:

Avoiding dairy completely, especially the products that are processed with these 'solids' and deeply cooked stuff like steaks too often will give anyone a much better chance of avoiding a cancer diagnosis. There are also a lot of studies in neuroscience showing that too much animal protein while a baby is in the womb will retard that baby's brain size, whereas a pure vegan diet that has more folate etc has above all groups an increase in brain circumference and overall child height following birth.
I'm sorry it is just the facts.

On topic i'd love to see that tribute show.
