The vocals are good naturally, however everything else is suffers from mediocrity.

The guitar solo starts with an awful tapping section and just as it starts to pick up steam - it gets cut out by vocals.

Evidently the mixing causes the bass and drums to be overshadowed by the guitar and vocals, and rightfully so since the bass has absolutely zero characters, and drumming can be only described as "decent".

The song itself sounds like they weren't trying that hard, and some portions even sound like they were recorded by a Testament cover band (around 0:55-1:24 for example). At least it sounds more promising than Anthrax's latest release.

Mediocrity wins...

It's an ok song imo. Not so great, not so bad.

I'm impressed; the riff is cool, the solo's not bad (could have been better though I agree), but what literally blew my mind is that how they combined Hoglan's standard death metal drumming with a very well-done melodic part. Also, Chuck is finally pursuing melodic limits fuck's sake, I'm tired of him staying on the same tone.

This album will be great, I reckon. 'True American Hate' was mindblowing, so this doesn't match, but it is still a pretty fucking solid song. I'm in wait for this so much now.

The problem is, two solid song released as singles would really indicate the whole stuff won't be so amazing.

YES, like Arch Enemy did. They streamed their best track online week after their album turn out to be mediocre and disappointing. I personally thought "woo, this song sounds really good, album will be great too and baaaam! it came out as a very average stuff". So, you can't really figure it out from "dribble released singles".

You know the problem is this album has 9 track announced, from which we already heard two... I'm a huge TestamenT fan but ever since Billy got sick I doubt they can make a standout album again. Something like when Jim Morrison's soul was departed during a show - as described by Ray, Testament cannot revive the early energy after two hits: departure of Alex after the Ritual and Billy's cancer...

it certainly wasn't a masterpiece. Mediocre thrash, that's what it was.

I think it was better than mediocre. But to call it a masterpiece would be a stretch for sure.

Gonna have to disagree with you there, Marcel. Personally, that album blew my socks off.
