My first thought after hearing the song was that they had woken up again. I'm really hoping the whole album's going to be like this.

Missing the folk parts, but the rest is cool.

Pfft, the hope for greatness has never left this band! I love the heavy folk albums, in those, the bands creativity and melodic prowess can shine. Not saying they don't in the more aggressive songs, of course.

Cool song, cool video. Ensiferums not dead yet! I counted them out after Unsung, so glad I was wrong

Man, no matter what they do they can't get their Jari sound back. But eh well.
This is a massive improvement over Unsung Heroes, I love the aggression. Hopefully the album will have more like this, and blast beats too.
I'll second the "where's the folk?" thing though. Also hoping there'll be one of those awesome semi-a-cappella clean choir sections like Tumman Virran Taa and Burning Leaves.

Either I've grown out of this stuff or this is just really average. Possibly both.

A slight dark version of the old sound. Unsung Heroes was extremely disappointing. Thank you Ensiferum for bringing me back.

It's okay... Definitely an improvement on Unsung which is a good sign and had some cool parts but overall just not very memorable. Agree with others, want a lil more folk!

Musically, it's not bad, but I just wish that Lindroos's vocals weren't so one-dimensional. Very boring. Then again, it's hard not to compare him to Jari, but still.

Drums are powerful, but the song is generic, chorus are bad, voice is flat, and well... the folk part is completely missing, also the video makes no sense.

Folk parts are there, you just have to listen to them .. This one got better with every listen. The guitars are actually quite good (except that excuse for a solo) if they turned up the orchestrations it would sound like a thrashy From Afar.

I like it, but it felt like it was stripped of layers, whether that's because Wintersun are doing the 1,000,000 layers and they're steering away from that, I don't know. It felt like a good metal song but without all the folk from their first 4 albums.

I'm actually impressed! They're BACK!
Yeah, folkier would be nice, but this is solid material. Love it!

Same here
And another one. Nice song, still totally looking forward to the album, but I do hope it's not 11 tracks like this one. To me, Ensiferums strength has been in combining solid metal with catchy folk tunes. This song only has the solid metal part.
Still don't get al the hate for Unsung Heroes though, great album. Yes, different from the other albums, but I like it anyway.

Agreed.
Personally, I think I foresee Ensiferum getting "Children Of Bodom Syndrome". They release an atrocious album (AYDY for COB, Unsung Heroes for Ensiferum), then follow it up with moderately better, but still mediocre material, but gets treated like the second coming of Christ simply because they've dialed back the suck knob a wee bit.
Don't get me wrong, I'm still going to give this album a shot. Ensiferum have given me enough hours of listening pleasure I'm not going to abandon them because of one shitty album, but this track isn't exactly getting me that jazzed.

I actually still liked AYDY, even more so than their watered down version of their old sound.
In my eyes Ensiferum will end up as Children Of Bodom in the sense that I'll only look forward to seeing them live, but they'll have to use some weird voodoo magic if they ever want me to look forward to any of their studio releases again.
In any case, I do agree about checking out the album before making any judgment. The song though... Could have been better.

Exactly, they just keep using stripped down versions of Jari's melodies. Such a joke, wish they would have changed their band name..
That being said, I DID enjoy from afar. If this album is a continuation of that (and it seems to be), I may "enjoy" it. Definitely an improvement from Unsung Heroes!
