American long-running rockers Stryper have confirmed that their booked show in Lima, Peru on September 11th has been canceled due to various reasons, stated below. Peru date was part of the Stryper's South American tour, which kicks off on September 7th in Bolivia, and will be executed as planned.

Official statement from the band: "It has come to our attention that the promoter in Lima, Peru has posted a cancellation ad and has stated that we (Stryper) were asking for more money to come to perform. This is absolutely false and an outright lie.

"We would never dream of contracting a date and then suddenly demand more money. That's ridiculous to even suggest such a thing. Maybe somewhere out there is an artist that would do that but generally speaking, once a contract is issued - which it was in this case - the artist honors the agreed upon fee. Stryper has never, and would never, change the price after a contracted amount was agreed upon and it's ludicrous this promoter would suggest otherwise.




"We were very excited about coming until the organizer (and co-promoter) informed us of the information below:


1.) The promoter in Lima did not send the required deposit money to the organizer.

2.) Production conditions:
Despite countless requests from multiple parties involved to receive very basic production and venue information, he sent nothing. Neither we nor the organizers knew anything about the venue specs, stage, sound, lights, backline, hotels, etc - leaving us no other choice but to assume those things simply had not been arranged. Once a show is contracted this very standard process is known as "advancing the show", whereby all parties share the details of the show. Despite endless requests to advance the show, we were met with silence.

3.) Visas:
He didn't provide solid information about visa procedures for getting in and out of Peru and this is extremely important, especially in Peru. You need to present paperwork confirming tax information and if it isn't done properly, they simply won't let you go.


"So, there's the truth. This was of no fault of the band, management, or the organizer/co-promoter. Regarding meet and greets, we will be refunding anyone who has purchased one for Peru and you can keep the items sent as our gift to you for any inconvenience.

"We apologize for the situation and we feel so bad for our Peruvian fans and friends. We will work on returning in the near future. We love you all..."
