Cult Of Luna - First Single From Upcoming Record Released

After the initial new album announcement one month ago, Cult Of Luna now unveil additional details and first single. "Cold Burn" is The Long Road North's opening track and is available alongside an otherworldly video which previews the single's gaming experience that will be released on February 11 alongside the album. The video and game, created by Linus Johansson of North Kingdom Greenhouse masterfully combines and captures Cult Of Luna's ethereal soundscapes with real-time technology and interactive storytelling.

"It's a big and cinematic sounding album. I think one of the reasons why we have been able to be so productive the last couple of years is that we have been consistently writing from the heart. We have let our instincts guide us, and I think it’s getting clearer where we are heading," reveals vocalist/guitarist Johannes Persson, who has been one of the primary driving forces behind the band since their inception.

Persson continues, "The long road north is a long road home. A direction dictated by a call that penetrates rock and echoes through the forest. It flows over every lake, accelerated by the wind. When it reaches you, you know it’s time. Time to move forward. You don’t know where it will lead but you put the trust in it. With eyes raised towards the midnight sun it pulls you closer. The road is long and the end is uncertain."

The Long Road North track listing:

01. Cold Burn
02. The Silver Arc
03. Beyond I
04. An Offering To The Wild
05. Into The Night
06. Full Moon
07. The Long Road North
08. Blood Upon Stone
09. Beyond II

It's hard to believe that such amazing music is made in our shitty little town of Umeå in northern Sweden. Makes me kinda proud to be honest. All I can do is bow before the masters of post-metal

Yes, you should be proud, these guys are brilliant musicians. So glad I recently discovered this band. I'm really looking forward to this new album, having just listened to this first song.

Similar vibes to Lay Your Head To Rest, but with more of an ominous drive to it perhaps taken from Nightwalkers. Unsurprisingly, I thoroughly enjoy it, even if it's not perhaps as sensational an album opener as Three Bridges and The Silent Man were

Out of curiosity, do you refer to the BTBAM song from The Parallax II: Future Sequence or do you actually mean Lay Your Head To Rest from A Dawn To Fear and accidentally got them mixed up?

I thought so. Actually listened to Lay Your Ghosts To Rest to see if I missed something, that's why I asked. But thanks to the mix up I actually put The Parallax on since I hadn't listened to it for quite some time. Reminded me what an amazing song it is and what a masterpiece that album it is

It's so weird how most post metal influenced by Neurosis and such is incredibly boring and sameish and then you have Cult Of Luna who manages to make it interesting from start to finish somehow.

It's an in your face lesson on songwriting, really
