Gates Of Ishtar - Ink Deal With The Circle Music
After reuniting in 2023, the Swedish melodic death metal unit Gates Of Ishtar is more than pleased to announce that they have signed a new contract with The Circle Music for the release of their long-awaited new studio record, their first in almost 30 years. More info in due time.
Statement from the label: "We proudly announce the signing of Swedish legends Gates Of Ishtar. If there was a list of the most underrated bands in metal, Gates Of Ishtar would hold a prominent place. It's been almost 30 years since their legendary debut A Bloodred Path appeared, and still remains in the pantheon of melodic death metal. Two more amazing albums followed (The Dawn Of Flames - 1997, At Dusk And Forever - 1998) and while everything foreshadowed that a brilliant career awaited them, Gates Of Ishtar fell silent.
"Their reunion 17 years later, in 2015, brought big smiles to everyone who was waiting. And there were many who were waiting for such an announcement. Unfortunately, with the death of drummer Oscar Karlsson, this reunion never became a reality, and the band continued its hiatus until they finally resurrected and played at House of Metal in November 2023. As a aftermath of the huge response from the fans at that show, the plans on recording a new album was set in motion.
"If anyone is wondering what Gates Of Ishtar have to offer after almost three decades of absence from discography, all they have to do is listen to a few demo sample excerpts from the new material that the band has published online: Swedish melodic death metal at its best, with razor-sharp guitars that spawn one riff after another, thunderous drums, and Mikael Sandorf's trademark growls.
"They recently performed a devastating live show in Lulea, their birthplace. This live show coincided with the 30th anniversary of their first concert in the same place. They returned to where it all began!
"Life often plays strange games. One thing is certain: Owes to Gates Of Ishtar a lot and they are coming back determined to claim it all, one by one. It is our great joy to be on this journey together! Stay tuned, the Gates are open again..."
Gates Of Ishtar added: "The gates are open once more! We are super excited to work together with Maria and the Circle Music to bring you our new album! It will be the first new release in almost 3 decades and we have put all our hearts and souls into this beast of an album.
"The process of writing this new material has been a joyful experience and it didn't take more than a minute to realise that we still had that magic flow between us all in the band. We can't wait to hear your response to it and hopefully we meet you all outthere in 2026! Hail Inanna!"
