Wow its great I get to start an official Pestilence thread.I cant say i'm a diehard fan or anything, cuz I haven't been listening to them that long.Well anyway I finally got the pleasure of buying "Consuming Impulse" and that is definitley brutal death metal at its best."Echoes of Death" is the highlight track for me it has every good element to making a great song.I also have "Testimony of the Ancients" as well, since I bought two from the vault,it is alright to me,its more of a progressive death cd i'd say.Its not that I dont like progressive death, its just not at the same level of intesity as "Consuming Impulse".I want to get the first album,if I can find it for a decent price,as well as "Spheres".So what are your thoughts on this band?

I've heard of Pestilence, but never really thought to try them out. "Consuming Impulse" must be a good album by the way you describe it. The cover art looks humorous too. Ill have to check them out. Thanks Mega-Slayer!

This band is pretty good. I've been debating on buying the 2 for 1 release for a while now. I'll get it eventually.

I agree...these guys were barely 16 or 17 years old when the first album was released...Consuming Impulse is the best album in my opinion

Written by [user id=15041] on 21.07.2006 at 07:46 Mmm, as far as I can remember those guys are my age so whent e debut was released they were 20. But nonetheless a truly innovative great death metal band. A band that makes me proud to be Dutch. Great guys to hang out with at the time as well. Had some brilliant time with them getting drunk and stoned with them and Exhorder and Sacred Reich. Patrick Mameli is a great builder of hash/grass bongs.

Excellent band. "Testimony of the Ancients" is a great album (even with its silly references to Dream Theatre's "Home"). I enjoy their vocalist, who often resembles Chuck Schuldiner.

SInce Testimony was released in 1991 and Scenes From A Memory from 1999? But I never noticed the similarities, but am sure to check it out this weekend at home and see if there are similariteis there.

Here is a clip from their non-proggy death era. Out of the Body taken from Consuming Impulse with Martin van Drunen on bass and vocals http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nlx2zj0VoG4

Those 4 albums are untouchable. Not a single bad song. I'm half dutch so I am proud that Holland has had so many great metal bands, and Pestilence is their crowning glory. Anyone into death metal in general has to own these albums.

Pestilence is great. It's kind of hard to describe what thy've achieved on Consuming Impulse. It feels like a train driving over you with max speed when you listen to that CD. Spheres is also a Great album. What exactly is C-187? I read it's Patrick Mameli's new project(also featuring Tony Choy and Sean Reinert according to the fan site) Is it active, if not when was it active, does it have any releases. I've got only song on my PC, which is great by the way. I think some of the songs can be downloaded from the Pestilence fansite which is linked to Their profile here in MS.

I love "Spheres", that is really masterpiece, excellent mix of technical death metal and jazz. I know "Testimony Of The Ancient" too, very good album. I guess I should buy the two others albums too. Holland rules!
