Great debut album. Thoroughly impressed by its quality. There are enough variations here to keep your ears popping, in a good way. Highly enjoyable.

I'm about to give this baby a spin. And by spin, I mean listen to it for free by downloading it legally from their website! This sounds like my kind of thing.

Neurotech has finally arrived, what a great news. This album is amazing, it's really impressive how high is quality on their debut album. I expect a lot from this guys in the future.
And a one little issue: i think this is industrial metal, not cyber. I would call Illidiance and Machinae Supremacy a cyber metal. Neurotech sound is similar to Sybreed, so if Sybreed is industrial, than it's Neurotech too.

Really not an exceptional album, unfortunately. I would rate it a 6.5 but I have rounded downwards in my rating.
Neurotech's songs incorporate elements from bands like Blood Stain Child and mostly industrial metal sounds like Devin Townsend; it would be a vast overstatement to call them derivative, but their influences are very noticeable. My problem-- the lack of an original sound that transcends their influences. While the symphonic elements added are quite impressive at points, it lacks the technical proficiency to really make the listener floored, in my opinion. It is also fairly straightforward and lacks the twists and turns to truly make it interesting; it is catchy, but nothing more.
The lyricism needs a lot of work-- choruses repeat, very little depth in word choices to truly impress me. Additionally, I find that the "variations" MechanisT talks about are few and scarce compared to bands like BSC. I know it is unfair to expect Neurotech to meet expectations set by BSC, but the cyber metal needs a lot of variations in order to be effective. Some excellent work- the transition from Awaiting Deception and The Angst Zeit is one of the sensational parts of the album and it was a great choice to put those two songs together. But there aren't enough to put this album over the line. As well, I could use a little more proficiency with the guitars and instruments-- it is fucking BORING. Yes, a cyber metal album is BORING. The production is quite good, though, so kudos to them for getting that straight.
Summary: promising, but need some sound that sets them apart from all the other bands. At the moment, I can't give this album anything beyond a 6. This does not meet the hype to me.

Haven't heard of BSC yet, so won't really comment on that, though I don't see any direct Devin influence on their music here. The only thing they may have in common is the ambience. The songs? Vastly different.

Additionally, I find that the "variations" MechanisT talks about are few and scarce compared to bands like BSC.

Let me clear the air here, and stress my previous point(s): I HIGHLY enjoyed the album from start to finish. I agree somewhat that the influences are evident in their sound, but the variation is not "few and scarce", and they sure as hell have an originality to them. You've got slow-paced numbers (Inject Me Now, The Mannequin March) in the same mix with faster, catchy-as-hell ones (Nonexistent, The Angst Zeit). The songwriting has good variation, and almost all of the songs have a unique identity to them. I repeat: this is their first album, a GREAT first album if I may add, and that's one thing a lot of bands cannot boast of, especially those in this genre.

Yes, a cyber metal album is BORING.

Most importantly: They're NOT cyber metal. They may be labelled here as such, but in reality they're not. I'd say industrial/electronic metal rounds up their genre pretty accurately.

This does not meet the hype, everyone.

If you want to influence others, better write a review. I can go on and on about what makes this album so enjoyable, but I don't intend to. A comment is reserved for personal thoughts regarding the album, not a mini-review.
In any case, that's just my opinion. People will come up with their own opinions after hearing it.

I agree with MechanisT. This is one of the best albums I've heard this year so far, and I enjoyed it entirely. I don't know how this can be boring to someone but ok, everyone have their own opinion.
And yes, it's INDUSTRIAL metal, not cyber, can anyone correct that?

I only intended to make the influences of Neurotech clear because I cannot find an original sound to their music. I understand that the songs are vastly different between the two artists, but the ambience has done nothing to separate them from other artists.
So they have catchy slow songs and they have catchy fast songs? So do a lot of metal bands. They need more twists; they are so boring and straighforward to me. They need more variations WITHIN the songs themselves to truly interest me and so therefore I find that their song-writing is not good enough. The lyricism ranges from OK to...terrible. You can't rate a debut album any differently from any other album simply because it is a debut; I am just saying that out of all the metal I have currently listened to, this album deserves a 6. Of course, I am always open to re-evaluating my ratings in the future and I constantly relisten to some albums (for example, the new Obscura album has something bad that I can't put my finger on so I'm relistening to that over and over again).
I agree-- they are likely industrial/electronic with a bit of symphonic here and there. I have not written a mini-review of sorts-- I just wanted to perhaps open up discussion and look into the pros and cons of this album. I have not seen many dislike the album, so I thought I would make my views more explicit. Yes, this is my opinion and other people have their own opinions--and I'm ultimately advocating that it's a promising listen but not to expect too much when you listen to it.

What bothered me the most about your previous comment was the "don't believe the hype, everyone" part. If you want to share your views good or bad, that's fine, but why insist on trying to influence potential listeners? No one's going to blame you if you say "this album is so fucking boring, Neurotech sucks, etc.", because ultimately your opinion holds just as value as other opinions. Another thing that bothers me is your FRIGGIN' LONG comments which, I still insist, reeks of a review in disguise. Why not write a proper review explaining your impressions, rather making these long, long comments which may detract any casually interested listeners? I'm sorry, but you're going into too much painstalking detail, and that's not pleasant to see in a comments page.

If that is the case, then the same applies to lower ratings to albums which are more or less disappointing compared to the previous one. This is a hypothetical example, and not in any way related to you/me, to be clear. Same goes for comparing this album to its "influences".
No one can be 100% impartial. It would be folly to think so.

To MechanisT: I originally said "don't believe the hype, everyone" simply because I was eager to dispute its value. I have since changed that comment because I don't want to boldly influence people too much (although any assessment of the album will influence people to some extent, even your earliest comment about this album). And my long comments simply reflect my eagerness to discuss the album (although the review may be the most appropriate forum to do that with, thanks for the advice). As for the debut comment-- that's quite logical haha. I still think that debut albums should have an original sound already beginning, and that's part of why I found the Neurotech album to be disappointing: because I couldn't find much in terms of originality (sounds like Devy and lots of industrial bands with a little bit of BSC ambience, a dash of symphonic Esoteric-ish stuff). That doesn't mean it is bad-- it simply means they need time to mature and develop, IMHO. My 6 is largely representative of this potential and today it is almost at a 7. Cheers, MechanisT!

I'm glad that you were kind enough to change that particular statement. Just to let you know, I have absolutely no qualms about your rating or your criticisms, it's just that the comments are still very long (yes, I'm saying that again!), but I do appreciate the fact that you've got heart for the album and not merely going by other people's words.
Salutations and I apologize for coming across a bit aggressive.

Exactly, this is what the appropriate influences are for Neurotech, not any of the stuff mentioned previously in this thread. It just shows that people have no clue at all about industrial metal. Either way, this album is really amazing.

So.. this album is amazing. I should really listen to more of this genre. I love how this album incorporates symphonic elements so smoothly. Some songs it feels predominant, other songs it's just a nice background part of the mood. Excellent songwriting.

For a debut they sure sound like seasoned pros. Really solid music.

Catchy, but pretty generic. Greater emphasis on melodeath influences is what separates this band from bands like Kovenant, unfortunately, the melodeath tones just seem to fall a bit flat and are uninteresting.

It's ok, but, as a whole, BSC is just more catchy- and to me that seems to be the only draw to this album.

I just wish bands like this emphasized writing good metal, first and foremost. Sybreed, Seebrees and these dudes have a cool thing going, but I always end up getting bored....I know that's a lot of work with the sampling and all BUT DAMMIT CANT A GUY DREAM???

I think this album is more industrial than melodeath.

I meant more melodeath influences (mostly in riffing) than bands that are most similar to it; like Kovenant, that take a more direct industrial approach. It is very clearly more industrial than melodeath.

Great fun! This album isn't complex or prog in any way, it's just a fun industrial metal album with some great songs.

Reminds me of Dark Tranquillity in places.
