For anyone who doesn't know Lamb Of God is a (disputed) thrash act from Richmond Virgina. While being very technical, they also have a nice deep chugging feeling throughout their songs. Sometime this Summer they should be releasing their album Sacrement, which is being strictly kept under wraps. What are your thoughts on the band? Do you think the new album will be better then their earlier material? Who is your favorite member in the band and why?

Lamb Of God are a great band. Opinion is usually divided on them... However, IMO they are brilliant... '11th Hour' is a great track as is 'Ruin'.

Not a big fan of this band. No...nevermind not a fan at all...if anything an anti-fan. Its not that they are just horrible...its just that they get too much credit for thier music. I have listened to a few songs and it really wasnt all that great. I think that they are highly overrated...which is probably why i dislike them so much.

Lamb Of God is a great band although I am still strongly against calling them Thrash there hasn't been a new band in a long time that I would even consider comming close to being thrash in a long time. Lamb Of God is a great a band great vocalist and Mark and Willie are great guitar players but my favorite thing in Lamb Of God is the drumming it's excellent. All of their albums have been great and one of them was produced by the great Devin Townsend so you know they must have something going for them. Randy Blythe is definently my favorite member in the band though because he gets drunk fights Mark and punches a bus.

They might not be the Bay Area or German thrash sounding, but they definately fill the bill. Someone said they don't have solos, and thats why they can't be considered thrash. But they do have solos. I don't disagree with someone for thinking they aren't thrash but if they aren't thrash what are they?

This is one of the most, and I hate to us this term, "overrated" bands out there at the moment. There is seriously nothing special about them. Bland, boring, unispiring music.

Love the band. They pretty much got me into Extreme Metal. Once I started to dig LoG I really got into extreme metal rather than just old metallica and shit. Definately buying the new album

love the band for their music, but one thing that totally attracted me to the band was the drumming ... chris adler, surely puts in a lot of talent and techniques in his compositions. A lot to learn , drumming wise , for me. Their best according to me , is Ashes of The Wake \m/

Heres alittle news update: LAMB OF GOD and Revolver Magazine are excited to announce a series of special backstage fan-only listening events of LAMB OF GOD's highly anticipated album SACRAMENT out August 22nd on Epic. When this summer's Unholy Alliance Tour kicks off on June 15th at The Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ, a limited number of fans wearing a Lamb of God t-shirt and carrying the official Revolver tour program will be picked out of line and taken back stage to meet the band and listen to new tracks from SACRAMENT. This will occur every night and in every stop of the tour. So pretty much I have to wait till Summer Vacation is over before I get the album.

That almost makes me want to wear my Lamb Of God shirt to Unholy Alliance if I even go...almost I got to wear my Slayer shirt. And the odds of getting picked probably aren't too good anyways. Eh, looks like we'll just have to wait.

Well I'm pretty sure they are since it says it here: http://www.metalstorm.ee/bands/band.php?band_id=294&bandname=Lamb+Of+God 1998-Thrash This is what wikipedia reads, "Generally, the musical base of thrash metal is composed of fast paced time signatures, and low-register, fast or complex guitar riffs, sometimes layered with high-register guitar solos, often in combination with palm muting to create a "chugging" sound. The speed and pacing of the songs is usually what defines basic thrash metal. The music tends to have a visceral, propellant feel to it due to the often intense drumming, most commonly utilizing the snare drum on the 1/2 beat, or the 2nd and 4th beats of the measure. Frantic bass drum use is also common. (Thrash drummers often use two foot-pedaled bass drums, known as "double bass"). " I believe LOG have all that down. And then you said it doesn't have much thrash in it, but to be metalcore it has to have thrash in it, actually about 1/2 of the music would have to be thrash oriented, the other hardcore. Or death metal influence and hardcore. I'm also pretty sure they don't use beat downs which looking on Wikipedia says is essential to metalcore acts. Look at a band like Anthrax. They highly toted they were influenced by the New York Hardcore scene. They incoporated that into their sound. Yet we don't call Anthrax metalcore, they're thrash. And even looking at the groovy part of Lamb Of God, look at Pantera. Groove based thrash.

I've heard a bit of LOG's stuff but I definitely enjoy what I hear. Vicious vocals and the chugging guitars are great. Defintely some moemorable riffs there. My friend told me that the band claims that their latest album will be the heaviest 'most metal' album they've done. If that's the case, it should be their best.

05.06.2006 - 03:31 Written by [user id=5766] on 05.06.2006 at 01:23 i agree to all that man, but still the band's got that punkish feel to it... hardcore kinda a feel with a bit of thrash and every song doesnt have a blast beat(which i feel is very prominent factor in metal, as long its thrash, death and black) .... and the way the band portray themselves is more or less like a 'core'ish band. not trying to make a point or anything , but personally i feel that LoG would stand as a metalcore band rather than a thrash band. But its a personal choice. and the reasons being the one's above.

I think I've discovered my true problem with this band, and that's Ashes of the Wake. I've given their earlier material another listen, and it's not bad. Ashes of the Wake is inferior in almost every aspect.

I've heard some stuff, my drummer loves them though. Though I'm not a big fan of their music [outside of Laid to Rest], I've got respect for their guitarist and drummer, because they're vegetarian like myself. They also write very helpful guitar columns in my Guitar Player magazines.

I love Lamb Of God. I belive the new album will be the best one yet as in my opion they get better with every release. They have been amazing since the begining with Burn The Priest and I belive they will only get better and better. My favorite album by them right now is Ashes Of The Wake. And as for my favorite member I would say Randy because he is a amazing vocalist and he is crazy live, his on-stage performance is great. But every member is extremly talented.

14.06.2006 - 22:23 Written by mvikred on 05.06.2006 at 03:31 Lamb Of God are certainly a thrash band albeit a modern thrash band. Thrash ahs a punkish hardcore feel to it, many of the first wave of thrash bands (Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Anthrax, Dark Angel, Death Angel etc.) were heavily influenced by punk and hardcore. And blast beats were never emploeyd by the old thrash bands so there is no need for blast beats. BTW, if you listen to Lamb of God you'll hear many a Slayer sound coming by and it is impoosible to deny Slayer being thrash.

^^^ obviously slayer is thrash ... but somehow Lamb Of God dint strike me as thrash .. and somehow it still doesnt... jus cuz u guys mentioned, ive heard their older stuff once again .. but i still cant classify them as thrash. anyways, genre is not important, its the music .... and one thing's for sure, we all love LoG's music ... so lets drop the genre classifying(i know i started it..but now is the time to stop it too ) ... and enjoy their music. i am really looking forward to their new album. i hope it kicks some serious ass

LOG is one of my favorites. They don't really fit in the genre of metalcore because metalcore has some weird out of tune chords and a stupid singer that tries too hard. But they don't fit into traditional thrash just because the useage of breakdowns. But for me, the genre doesn't matter. Their music is awesome. Their guitars are so tight. I'd like to see more harmonizing, less breakdowns and more solos. They play a lot of their stuff simultaniously but it works out nicely. Their music doesn't sound very happy which I like. The new album will be a good one I know that. I heard their song "Redneck" sounds like stuff off of Ashes or Palaces. And in terms lyricaly, it should be good too. Randy said he wasn't going too political anymore. I don't have a problem with their political side because their lyrics (when talking about politics) were pretty good. My favorite member would be John Campbell just cause he's so funny and it seems like he has a story to tell. Mark Morton is the better guitarist. I'm seeing LOG, COB, Mastodon and Thine Eyes Bleed next month. It's an off date show without Slayer. It's going to be a great show. They're playing in a smaller club. I saw them on Sounds last year. The circle pit was great. I got a drumstick from Chris. It's sweet cause it's just shredded (he plays wood drumsticks) and I think there's even a piece of his hair stuck in between a little slit. What do you guys think about Killadelphia? I bought it a while ago. It's definiatly something everyne should buy. The only bad thing is that the concert is cut up just to show the songs.

In my first time with Lamb of God I had a predisposed attitude, maybe for that metalcore aura (I like some metalcore bands, but most of them are the same thing for me), but I have to said, this guys play good music. I still don't understand that "technical" label (the drummer plays great double bass, but the "hand work" is mediocre), even so, LOF is a good band. For me, they play thrash, being in a genre doesn't mean that everyone have to play the same thing.

Account deleted Written by Jerk on 17.06.2006 at 19:07 Your lucky to have seen them, I wanted to see them this pass Saturday in Lowell, but missed it. Very disappointed in myself. I own Killadelphia, and when I first got it I watched it twice, then with the commentary, and then watched it every day for a month. Its really down to earth but very humorous at the same time. You get to see what makes all the guys tick as well, along with what ticks them off. If you have a DVD player on a computer there are some extra scenes, where the director hires a prostitute to vaccum the tour bus topless. It was really random when I happened to see it. Otherwise that DVD is flawless in its in and out from watching the show to seeing the band mates at other shows, fighting , or being at a castle or seting up 2 minutes before a show cause their trucks kept breaking down. Very good DVD that I would recommend to any fan, as well as anyone looking for a very well shot, excellent sound quality band documentary.

19.06.2006 - 03:41 Written by Dangerboner on 19.06.2006 at 02:35 Yeah, I have. You know, for a long time there I really depised this band. All my friends (well most of them) were freaking out about them. Normally I would say, they're fans of the band....that's cool. But when they started to say Lamb of God was the only band to listen to and refused to listen anything else, I got irritated. I still hate Ashes of the Wake (with a passion) but from BTP to ATPB they were alright.
