Dutch Doom Days XIII - First Bands Announced
Dutch Doom Days, a doom metal festival which takes place in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, has announced its first bands for the next edition. Those are Excruciation, a death/doom act from Switzerland, and Hungarian doom/sludge group Magma Rise. Later today, The Wounded Kings were also confirmed. Many more bands will be announced for the fest that will happen from October 31st to November 1st, 2014.
Band descriptions: "Perhaps Hungary's best kept secret? To us they're no secret at all. Magma Rise crushes everything to pulp. Some of the members have been or still are active in acts like Mood, Wall Of Sleep and Stereochrist. Last year Magma Rise released their great second album The Man In The Maze. An outstanding album in the vein of acts like Crowbar or Down. We are pleased to present you Magma Rise!"
"We are pleased to present you a band you don't see on these shores too often. We're talking about Switzerland's Excruciation. The band started out in 1984, they split in 1991 but got back together again in 2005. After their reunion they released the albums Angels To Some, Demons To Others and [t]horns. In May their new full-length [g]host will be released. A great opportunity to invite these guys on the Dutch Doom Days. Especially since their style could be described as a mixture of Celtic Frost, Samael and Paradise Lost."
