"As expected, Lordi ruled in the annual Emma Awards Gala in Helsinki last night (March 10). They also announced the concert date in Helsinki on 11th May, the day between the Eurovision Song Contest semi final and the final thus confirming that they will be performing also in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 final.
Helsinki Kulttuuritalo played host to the annual Emma Awards, the Finnish equivalent to the Grammys, last night and Lordi opened the show with 'They Only Come Out At Night'. They stayed in front line the rest of the evening collecting a total of five awards before the night was over. Lordi was the "Group Of The Year" and 'Hard Rock Hallelujah' was awarded the "Song Of The Year". The album "The Arockalypse" was the "Best Selling Album Of The Year" with 92,724 copies sold in Finland so far.
They also won Export-Emma for their efforts in Europe. "The Arockalypse" was the first ever Finnish act to top the Swedish album charts, and it has also sold over 100,000 copies in Germany alone, and around 500,000 worldwide. Last but not least they won e-Emma, awarded for an artist or group that has helped to sell and promote digital and mobile music.
Other Eurovision related winners was Vesa-Matti Loiri (Finland 1980 with Huilumies) who won the award for the "Best Male Artist" with his album Ivalo. Annika Eklund's Shanghain valot from Euroviisut 2006 was also nominated for the Best Song.
Lordi also announced they will be performing in Helsinki Ice Hall on May 11th, the day between the semi final and final and the day when city of Helsinki is planning a big party for everyone all over the town. "They only come out at night - one night only" concert features also Udo Dirkschneider of U.D.O. and Accept fame, who already was featured on "The Arockalypse". Other guests are Thunderstone, runner up in Euroviisut 2007, Bloodpit and Carmen Gray.
Before that Lordi, who have been mainly performing in Spain and Baltics lately, will tour in Japan and the US in April."
