Cannot agree, the more I listened to it the more I favored it. Now I'd consider that record in my top 10 all time best. And I'm pretty sure this will blow everything out of the water...

There are some interesting riffs and moments on their debut and generally their debut is quite enjoyable but their last album was really boring. Definitely not my kind of death metal.

For me it's quite the opposite, I like the debut but could not get really into it.

The art is by Peter Mohrbacher. He is actually an artist that frequently works on cards for Magic: the Gathering, but he has his own project called the Angelarium, which is full of excellent art like this one (this album art is actually taken from the Angelarium). I suggest googling it--he's really good at what he does.

Excellent album through and through. I worry about how well it does on repeated listens, but I haven't gotten sick of it yet after six spins or so, which is a good sign.

Good Album. But compared to "The Harvest Wombs", or the incredible "Nomadic EP", their recent output just doesn't feel right. While the production of this album is better than "The Flesh Prevails" (in fact, it couldn't be worse), it still feels overproduced, too dense, and honestly quite ear-fatiguing after a few tracks.

Really annoying whammy bar bends throughout just kill this album for me...

The last started off quite strong without any letdown, maybe except the interlude "Alone With You", serving somewhat as intro for "Allure". Although the production is flawed, I still like that album a little bit more than this one. Yes, the first half of Dreamless is quite good, especially tracks 3 to 6, but the next three ones are the "letdown quarter". Two only okay songs followed up by a just only decent ambient interlude (seems to be programmed completely ...). Sounds suspiciously like filler ,,, a shame.
The last three tracks are better, but cannot fully compete with the strong first half. So the problem is, that after 6 of 12 tracks, my listening motivation is tested somewhat. This was not the case with the previous album ...
But ... Fallujah did refine their style, especially The Void Alone and Scar Queen are great examples for how to connect athmospheric music with (Technical) Death Metal in a very engaging manner. But then again, they also proof, they are not immune against mediocrity and filler writing.
Now wish for next time: A long track. I am quite sure, Fallujah could pull this off without boring the listener.

Precisely! As if you took the thoughts from my own head. They went overboard with the spacey stuff, which would not be an issue if they had balanced that out with the tech death aspect, however some of the songs become complete borefest here, much like "Alone With You" was on TFP.

I don't get how they are overrated, I haven't heard any other bland to blend death metal and atmospheric metal like they do, and they do it so well. But yes, the cover art is also really good.

Their last album was atmospheric? Hardly, really... If you want some atmospheric death, it's good to start with

And to me atmospheric death is generally something like

No. Just no. It's not a matter of being atmospheric death metal, it's blending death metal with atmospheric metal. You are interpreting atmospheric to mean have dark, doomy textures, I was referring to metal which takes influence from actual ambient music, like Devin Townsend's stuff or post-metal, and than using that as influence for Fallujah's music as well as technical death metal. The key phrase was "like they do".

Ok I get it. Looks like I can't hear what you hear in Fallujah music (especially their second album which I'm referring to) but that's ok.

Also just going to clarify I like that album and that song you linked, it's just not at all what I was referring to.
It's much more apparent on their second album than their first album, so I guess you really just don't know what I'm referring to.

It's a very good album but I feel like it sounds a bit rehashed when put beside The Flesh Prevails, which sounded so fresh and invigorating when it came out.

Besides those few really good songs and despite the fancy instrumentals, this still feels like more one-dimensional than the prior records. Still good tho.
