I picked 8/27 here; much better than my 5/27 in the regular Awards. At least Sigh finally got some of the recognition they deserve for crafting what is obviously, objectively, definitively the album of the year.

Check Dødheimsgard as well. It's the avant-garde staff pick winner of hearts. Not their fault that exactly one too many members of this staff are tone-deaf zombies falling for ScreamingStellUS's cheap propaganda

Don't do it, Lou. It's a trap. Corrupt has gone rogue.

I'm saying this in a fully official capacity with all proper authority: this vote was doctored. I wouldn't be surprised if an investigation revealed suspicious sums transferred from ScreamingSteelUS's bank account to several numbered ones in Switzerland, one in Paraguay and a few in the USA

In fact i voted for Dødheimsgard.
Thanks both for the good advice, anyway... Don't let the "divine" blood reaches the river...

Marriages was probably the discovery of this year's MSA for me. Very nice band with totally dreamy undercurrents that speaks strongly to my love of Jefferson Airplane. Truly a great album in Salome

No they didn't. Chaos Echoes deserved that one and Dodheimsgard deserved avantgarde, but they missed out due to some shameless plugging of some Japanese band

Oh man I voted for that album as well. Insane one, indeed.
I went from 1/27 votes on the regular awards to 10/27 here. Hehehehe. I like you guys.

I voted for Sigh because i couldn't decide what i hated worse... the vocals in DHG or the nonstop stumping for them.

It was a good album, but just not as good as Chaos Echoes' debut.

You actually managed to pick a truly mediocre post-rock album instead of New Bermuda.

Sannhet is vastly superior to the mediocre drivel that Deafheaven released.

I am just stating what was obvious to the users. Staff needs to gain ground in post-rock department.

If "gaining ground" means "agreeing with the hype". Yeah... I'm staying as far away from that ground as possible.
More than a couple of users (Teamster and I, for example) listen to plenty of post-rock outside the metal boundaries. We just didn't consider Deafheaven to be that great.

Sannhet's album was very good indeed. Deafheaven's was fairly mediocre; throwaway mainstream fodder that's at the centre of the current climate of popular metal but not because of its quality. Not bad, but not good either.
Besides, it's not like Deafheaven need any more exposure so stop crying about it.

Im crying about you and about Sannhet. Sannhet would probably be good in the early 90s, its been done so much before and much better. Horrible pick when you had better alternatives.

Quite a thing to say considering Deafheaven are the McDonald's of their respective genre and who have no discernibly unique qualities. Sannhet stand out far more in terms of originality and distinctiveness, albeit more so on their previous record.
