Within Temptation - Reveal New Album's First Details
Dutch symphonic group Within Temptation just revealed that they will release their new album Resist in December, more specifically December 14th, via Spinefarm Records, following months of turmoil and uncertainty within the band. The label has just shared the news about the follow-up to 2014's Hydra. Prior to the album's release, the band will kick off a European tour.
Speaking about Within Temptation's seventh album, vocalist Sharon Den Adel told Metal Hammer magazine that the band have taken inspiration from modern music, but given it a "dark" face.
"Sometimes it feels that today's pop music lacks a rebellious edge. Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like then roughen the whole thing up as much as we could, allowing us to shape a new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we've ever created before. Resist is our new take on metal; our way of giving a fresh lease of life to the rebellious edge of modern music."

Well... not really what I was hoping to hear but we'll see. It's strange though. It sounds like they just made something up due to a lack of inspiration. Taking sounds from the radio and "roughening" them up, really? Sounds like a cover album more than a musical effort. Here's hopin'. Not expecting much.
