I wasn't sure about posting this.. But I'm really willing to see other people's opinions in this situation than just my schoolmates.

Here's something to discuss:
- What kind of action should different big nations and unions (UN, USA, EU, etc.) actually take in the different situations that are happening over there?
- On who's side are you? Israel's or Palestine's? Why?
- What should be done on Iran? How could we be sure of the true intentions of Iran's nuclear plans?
- What do you think about Iraq's current situation? Was Saddams death penalty justified?
- How non-religious would you consider the different conflicts?
- Would you consider peace in the Middle-East as a realistic dream?

Please, discuss. Oh, and remember, no spamming, no stupidity what so ever. State your opinions calmly and try to be an adult.

It is a fun but unfortunately not a good idea for a ("self-loathing") Jew to attempt a goi pride in Palestine...

Reminds me of the shministi kids... this dude was a bit fake and over-the-top compared to the kids tho...

What does this have to do with word "goi"?

This is exactly like the bombing of the gas-pipes delivering Egyptian natural gas to Israel and Jordan, an orchestrated event by Mubarak to show the west that Egyptians are violent and anti-Israeli by nature and if his system cracks we would be seeing more violence and instability so its best to support him.

Seems absurd, for all we know now (those pictuers)...give it two weeks and he is on his way home, it does not seem they have anything reasonable to accuse him of in any standard except being Israeli/Jewish.
Besides when is the military gonna end it's reign and elections will take place?
I'm a shamed the Israeli government did show support for Mubarak instead of actually supporting the Egyptian people. Netanyahu isn't a leader on any front, his policies are empty like his cliched speeches.

Parliamentary elections are supposed to be held on september, followed by presidential elections in december this year (these are the "official" dates announced by the military) ... but everyone knows that the elections would be postponed and would keep getting postponed until mubarak (age: 84) dies of natural causes so that the next government wouldnt send him to trial .. the military are just stalling to give more time to their beloved "father" and allow him to go in dignity.

if you see the military's statements you would know: "we caught an israeli spy", "israeli forces are on the borders awaiting for instability in egypt to take over sinai", "please cooperate with us and mellow down on the protests as we have uncovered an israeli plot to divide egypt into 5 states: one for muslims, one for christians, one for nubians, one for palestinians, and part for them to take ... so, our country is in danger and WE are the only institution that can protect you"

screw that, man !

I'm being treated like my grandparents were treated in Europe. What king of first world democracy does that? Would UK do that?
And I'm Jewish, so I actually have privileges here, not like others.

I feel for you. It is sad when a country you live in is governed by ******s... we also have this totalitarian practice where you must spend around a year in imprisonment hearing propaganda (which armed service is) and give your vows to protect the robbers who basically have made you and your family and friends homeless and poor and who serve the monetary and military interests of large hostile foreign countries and who spread propaganda which causes your own fellow citizens willingly go and slaughter innocent people abroad (or on spot) and which causes peoples hate each other...

Although we also "have had a past where all nations tortured us, have finally restored our independence and still have neighbours who hate us" we don't have such a serious situation as you do. Thus it's more calm here. Nevertheless, I've heard how crippled young men receive letters which command them to complete their military service... can you think of anything more offensive for a crippled person? Latvia and Lithuania abolished compulsory military service after the collapse of the USSR. We didn't... and curiously enough, they still haven't been invaded by the evil Russia which would inevitably happen if we gave up this practice apparently...

Anyway... ever thought of immigration? At least Estonians are ardent immigrants... and recently I heard that more and more Jews are returning to Germany and/or applying for German citizenship... And supposedly this angers the government of the entity you live in...

Same here... our politicians also claim that "So awful, the population is shrinking because of the immigration. Someone should make these people come back!"
Well... those who have got away from here... why should they return? Apart from historical sightseeing and beautiful nature tho... Seriously... if you receive 400 euros a month and for instance somewhere in Europe get 2000 euros a month for the same job (note that living expenses are not much cheaper here than in the western countries) then why would you ever consider returning to a place where you must struggle to make the ends meet...

One is angry the other is sad. The forum is starting to sound like a group support forum, not a political one.
Every stage of my life I thought people would grow up and try to avoid obliviously bad thinking (racism, taking stereotypes too seriously, motivated reasoning), but it didn't happen after high school, during the military service (where I met some great people but also disgusting people) or after the service. If people don't develop a sense of self and a critical thinking discipline, they stay as nature hardwired them.

And I imagine you are grown up then?

Growing up is something that doesn't happen in the blink of an eye. And I know people who are in their thirties and even forties and apparently still haven't "grown up"... Quick remark, I do not consider myself to be a completely mature person yet...

In general it's very subjective anyway when it comes to judging if anyone has grown up or not... I won't judge you and I think that you do not have the reason to judge any others either, for instance your compatriot who just wrote few posts earlier.

Ezz dude, I wished to ask you how things were going at your place. I heard one family acquaintance who lived with her husband and kid in Egypt had to leave the country and now lives here because it's getting really out of hand, some European-dressed woman already got stones thrown at her and she also told something about the shiiites who were emerging and getting more violent (Iran... memories...)... that's a shame, I remember they had quite a pleasant life there, sad that they have to quit it now...

Revolutions always make things "better"...

The short version of the story, the military -our current ruler- is dead-loyal to mubarak, nd their obvious plan is to create "constructive-chaos" to create sympathy for mubarak and make people think that he was "doing the best he could", and believe it or not, stupid people are falling into the trap and hundreds are actually organizing protests demanding "mercy" for mubarak and some of them go as far as demanding to releasing him from "hospital" (yes, he's been 5 months in the hospital, not prison)
so, as any fucked up middle eastern country living in dictatorship since the dawn of history, we DO have extremist religious groups, fact, and we should deal with this like any civilized society... instead, the military is "unleashing" those extremists to spread hate-crimes and racist propaganda against anyone who doesnt follow their saudi-arabian strict sunni-islamic sect... and the result is: ..... total chaos, crime, and increased corruption... and mubarak is still getting his cock sucked but this time by hot nurses instead of house maids ... classic divide-and-conquer

anyways, things here reached the worst as it could ever reach regarding personal security, economy, and freedoms ... so, another revolution is VERY likely and expected within a year at max. (already the tahrir square leading protesting group set the date of the next 25th of january (the annual of the revolution) if this "i cant find the word" doesnt stop and everythign is restored, we're bringing down the military head (and probbly the whole country with it, which is the only thing that is keeping people from protestign again and giving a change to the military to review their strategies and take the side of the people.. or else it'll be another libya or syria)

God ! I love him. He's fearless and silver-tongued. If only they were all like him, we would welcome them in Palestine with open arms.

EDIT: I don't want to cause any controversy or to insult the Jewish people in Metal Storm, you know I respect you all. But the concept of transforming Judaism from a spirituality (an ideology that was shared by your religious leaders throughout the history of Judaism and who accepted the existence of their Jewish diasapora without a national state for two thousand years before this whole Zionism mouvement was created 100 years ago) into a materialist goal to snap up a piece of land no matter what, is unjustified.

Now, I think if Israel wants a piece of land, then so be it but Palestine it's not theirs and I'm not saying this because I'm Muslim. And the fact of invading them and calling them terrorists just because they are trying to defend themselves and their country is simply outrageous. I think if you really wanted peace in the middle-east you would leave Palestine to the Palestinian people.

Thanks for update... yes it's classic divide and conquer again. It's all about letting the people be cooked from one revolution to another...

And people never decide anything anyway... or as Stalin put it: "Those who vote don't decide anything. The ones who count the votes do."
And if you plan to go for a protest, they can always ride tanks over you...

Yes, I believe it is so...

Except for perhaps Bhutan which is a hidden country deep inside the Himalayas where people still live as if in an ancient kingdom. I've heard they still wear their own historical clothing and almost nothing of outside world has reached them. It is understandable why they have very high limits to the number of foreigners allowed to this realm annually.

Or Mongolia which is an uninhabited grassland or desert for the most of its area... as I've heard... the most independent country on earth, Mongolia never depended of something and nothing ever depended on Mongolia...

But now lets speak of places such as Tibet... they say it's loaded with raw materials and natural resources... sure this land needs to be RESCUED fast. Free Tibet and bring democracy there as soon as possible!

Xinjiang autonomous region... oil... This means freedom and democracy is coming to them NOW!

South Africa... diamonds diamonds diamonds... Diamonds attract democracy and human rights too... who cares the blacks are killing the white people there and about the HIV pandemic and the land reform where white farmers are stripped from their lands which annihilates the country's once so efficient agricultural system and the awful ethnic tensions between black and white population and the rapings... kids start raping their schoolmates already at the age of 9... But who cares about people and society anyway... "diamonds are a girl's(replace if you wish) best friends!"

The Aryan German state failed.
The White Supremacist state of Rhodesia failed.
The Apartheid state of South Africa failed.
The Jim Crow state of Alabama failed.

It's just a matter of time. Sooner or later the Zionist state will join the others in the trash can of history!

Conclusion: Racist states don't work, they eventually destroy themselves.

Mongolia... : )

Well, we had a strategic position too... a trade point between Russia, Scandinavia and Western/Southern Europe... we were like a "window to the sea". That's why everyone's been here, Danes, Germans, Swedes, Polish and Russian... everyone ruled here...
Almost immediately after we gained independence seemingly once and for all, we were sold out again... now it's the US...

At least we don't have any oil... we did have best quality crops once... during famine it was all exported to motherland (Sweden) and other European countries... native inhabitants ate birch bark and died by the city walls...

Now we don't grow anything... agriculture has been destroyed (land sold away to foreign investors), we only buy Spanish and German leftovers...
But who said we should own anything anyway...

Sabotage of M.V. Saoirse in Turkey 'an act of international terrorism'

Without an investigation, evidence, argument - they already know everything, to the detail. Its all there, Including slander and name-calling.
let me guess, the old conspiracy theories favorite cliche standard, who's profiting from it (Cui bono)? Obviously only Israel!
But does Free Gaza not profit from the attention and anti-Israeli slander? Which of course are there main goals they are after in there political campaign.

And when an investigation does happen, you won't hear it from these ideological motivated romantics.

If the two-state solution is implemented this year i dont think Israel should have fears about Iran anymore, or about any new emerging regimes in the middle east with ideologies different than the former ones, the Palestinian case is the fuel for aggression against Israel. i believe all Israelis should push for peace, and accept compromise to get this over with, and they'll have peace and security that i'm sure they're longing for.

Yes, we all do agree. But Bibi and his policies and not only him , how well will it sit with Hamas? fuck this shit. I should go and protest in the west bank and sit down with Palestinians. The only newspaper in Israel that reports daily injustice to Palestinians is Harrez.

Hamas is an opportunistic and exploitative movement that gains support by being the "resistance" movement, i personally do not consider them to be terrorists -does not mean that i approve with them bombing innocent civilians- but i believe in their right to fight the occupation, palestine IS occupied, right ?

so, anyways if a fair-peace treaty is signed, Hamas would lose alot of its control over the gaza people, the people, the civilians on both sides have been exhausted from decades of war i think they stopped giving a fuck about "claiming back all of palestine" or "we want all of our promised land", this is ancient talk that our grandfathers would've thought, i do not think its the way anymore.

i believe that if a two-state solution is setteled this year, the arab-israeli tension and mutual 'distrust' engraved in people's minds would be done for good in 10 to 15 years time max.
