Anyone heard of this band? They're a black folk band from the US. They released 3 albums, 2 demos and one compilation. I've been listening to their 2008 release "Hail Wind and Hewn Oak" and I'm very impressed by them. You guys should check them out. Their 2011 release "The Light That Dwells In Rotten Wood" is up for streaming on Youtube (the whole album). Here :
---- In the name of forests; In the name of stars; In the name of all the seas; In the name of storms... Proud sons of ancient nation; Proud sons of sacred song in the wind; Proud sons behind a mirror of ice who told... Fathers of the icy age!!

Yeah they are really good. Something different than everyone else. I still have to make my list of top releases this year. Would love to see yours, Troy.

Oh, sweet that someone opened a thread 'bout these guys. Ya, The Light That Dwells In Rotten Wood is surely one of this year's highlights. The track "Banished" is awesome beyond words.

Account deleted Written by Marcel Hubregtse on 20.11.2011 at 15:11 Unfortunately there are too many bands doing this kind of sound this year, it's getting hard to distinguish between them. It's a solid release nevertheless.

Agree with the last few posts.... this is good black metal for sure, but too much bands are doing this. It way be a wrong analysis (and probably not the best example), but I'm having the feeling it's kind like the gothemburg stuff ya know... like, explosion of a trend that seems to satisfy every fan of the genre, yet gets old pretty fast due to the amount of bands that instantly imitate it.

Good band, yet they aren't really amongst the best in this style IMO. I only listened to their last album, and I would give it an 8. The song Banished was very good though, especially those soothing chords at the beginning. Also FoR play good acoustic stuff. I think their acoustic parts compete with the black metal ones.
