Avenged Sevenfold - Drummer Dead At 28
James Owen Sullivan, drummer and backup vocalist for Avenged Sevenfold, has been found dead at his home in Southern California, authorities have confirmed.
Police Lt. John Domingo said the 28-year-old Sullivan, who went by the stage name "The Rev", appears to have died of natural causes on Monday in Huntington Beach. Police were notified by firefighters who had responded to Sullivan's home about 1 p.m. The Orange County coroner's office is investigating the death.
Avenged Sevenfold formed in Huntington Beach in 1999 - Sullivan was a member from the beginning - and won Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2006. According to their MySpace page, the five-man metalcore band was working on their fifth album.
The band released the following statement expressing their sadness: "It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we tell you of the passing today of Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan. Jimmy was not only one of the world's best drummers, but more importantly he was our best friend and brother. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Jimmy's family and we hope that you will respect their privacy during this difficult time. Jimmy you are forever in our hearts. We love you."

Most people here are European and are familiar with at least a little German or related languages, not to mention it's pretty obvious even to the most bourgeois of people. It's a shame the singer wasn't the one who died, then perhaps the band would actually give up, fuck American pop music..good riddance. Hail Death!!!

Believe it or not but young people do sometimes die of natural causes. Undiagnosed medical conditions, such as heart defects or something, are a big killer. It's sad news. No matter how he died. The fact is a man lost his life and people should show some respect. even if you don't like the music he made.

To be honest, I was never actually familiar with the band, so I can't say anything about them musically. Well anyway, I think it's pretty awful that the guy died at age 28. That's just so young.

First I would like to say that death is not a tragedy, most musicians die before they make shitty music anyways (too bad for dimebag that he already started damageplan) but unfortunately this young man was involved in one of the worst bands to ever shine a note into my head. I don't think it is good that he died, but im not going to drop all of my opinions and ideas about someone because they died. Michael Jackson for example, I dont like his music, I am not glad he died, but im not going to mourn it. Secondly, I think, on a real metal website, and the internet in general, people shouldn't be called immature for stating their dislike for a person and their music even if they have died. The fact that he died from natural causes is bullshit, the guy is like a modern motley crue but didnt have enough luck to stay alive.
