well me 2 ill say HIM the lyrics are really good

I say Sentenced... it's obvious!!HIM are a great band and i like them, but the senteced are maybe one of the greatest metal band in the metal scene!!!!I like charon and poisonblack too, but it's impossible for me to vote them....

I voted for Entwine but Shamrain(Entwine's vocalist's band, its doomy gothic metal) is much better.

can anybody give me an idea about what suomi metal is?

I see it as a some kind of mix between gothic and heavy metal.

A genre of which roots based on heavy.And then the doom and mostly gothic influences entered it and it appeared.

Sentenced naturally, even after they left death metal, they still stayed as a good band with those ironically suicidal lyrics and their own sound. They also quit on the top. I'm not sure if I would put HIM on the list, but then again, maybe it's just because they're so damn popural among the 10 - 14 year old "goth" girls.

Suomi metal is one of the main reasons why I am so embarrassed of the Finnish metal scene. I only like For My Pain, probably because of the slight "Eternal Tears of Sorrow" vibe that lies somewhere in their music.

Does Silentium pass for a suomi metal band by the way? At least they are closer to the gothic/symphonic metal that I prefer, but sometimes they sound so... Finnish.

Certainly Sentenced. The lyrics aresimply awesome, and their videos are pretty cool too, they seemed to have an obsession with old people.

Sentenced is a great band, they'd be my choice, but I don't know, there are so many good bands that it's hard for me to decide, Charon is a great one too besides Entwine and Lullacry

Hard to make choise between Sentenced and To/Die/For.

But I have a little preference with To/Die/For if I must chose only one.

For me its SENTENCED by far ...but i do really love Charon and poisonblack too.

Hmm I know i vote for Sentenced(Ville Laihila era) but some month i lsitening Charon firts album and seems I had new fav band I realy love video ''Dacember's Ece'' if I woud vote now I dunno whom i give my vote

Lullacry for me, just love that band, they are so fucking awesome...
First album is real great, and I was listening to that album for a very long time...

What the fuck, so you really mean that there is an genre called "suomi metal"? Im just asking because that might be the moust idiotic sounding genre name i have ever heard.

And if HIM plays "suomi metal" how do you fit Sentenced in the same genre? I haven listened much to Sentenced ( if you live in Finland you cant avoid hearing HIM) but arent they quit different from HIM? And at least To/Die/For is nothing alike HIM.

Sentenced here, the only "Suomi metal" band I listen to aswell.

It was actually kinda hard for me to decide what I prefer the most, but somehow I ended up going with Charon. I like To/Die/For, Entwine and Sentenced pretty much too and they are all important and beloved bands for me.

Anyways. I think Suomi metal is a cool genre. It's easy to listen to and it's not hard to get the idea or get into the music either.

Last 6 or 7 months, I was recommended to these bands, and till now I have got into them. Most I focus on are Sentenced, Him, Entwine, To/Die/For. Sentenced I think they are heavier than the rest of Soumi metal, I mean they more heavy metal, for both music and vocal. HIM is not all Soumi, some songs are rock. Entwine is more melancholic than the rest. To/Die/For is where my vote goes, they are easiest getting into, but I also love em all

Sentenced, Sentenced, Sentenced. I'm not even sure that HIM should be considered metal, but oh well...I'll stick with Sentenced.

I think HIM just because i don't know the others :p

Obviously Sentenced!!!!! there is no better band than this one...they're just great. But also I like Poisonblack very much too

You have helped me out so much, by reading this thread I can say that this metal seems interesting to me, BTW Why is called suomi metal?, the Gothemburg/Melodeath metal is not known as "svenska metal", why Suomi does so?

Nop there was some news or something in MS about it Suomi metal are gothic rock band sliek The 69 eyes, Poisenblack, Lulacry, HIM Chareon(if we dont count firts album) To/Die/For and such type a bands ... but Sentenced dont counts
