What would it sound like if Frank Zappa wrote a brutal death metal album?

As if this year wasn't great enough for metal as it is, the brutal death kings are back

It's a shame it already leaked, 2 months before. It must have been something like the Blood Incantation fiasco

I'll hold off listening to it until its official release in the name of solidarity.

This album is a masterpiece, its shocking to see such a low rating! Guess some people are triggered by the masterful instrumentation, this is a must have for any true brutal death metal fan 😎

The user score for this is so shockingly wrong. It's just not an "easy listen" kind of album so I guess it got slammed down by the MDM/Prog/Power users. The jazz elements are a sick touch. Troy's review is on point as usual

It's better than at least half of Metalstorm's top 20 of 2020. Just a well-written, brutal, technical death with noise/dissonance/avantgarde/jazz touches. It's not much worse than new Ulcerate.

This album is not an easy listen. Truthfully, I am reminded of my experiences early on with None So Vile (yes, I'm wiping away cobwebs on this one)

It started off with me thinking "this is a jumbled mess of insanity, but for some reason, I kinda like it, I don't know why"
Then a few more listens and each time, I'd catch a little bass line or a drum fill, or...something, and I'd go "hey, that's really cool"

Then next thing you know the crazy bass lines and drum fills, and even the gurgles and burps from the vocalist are stuck in my head and I'm wanting to throw it on for another spin.

I've had to change my rating at least 6 times for this, as it has grown from a 3.5 to a 4.7 (out of 5.0)

I don't know that it's better than the entirety of the current Metalstorm top 20 of 2020, but it is definitely better than a large portion of it.

Necrophobic
Anaal Nathrakh
Cryptic Shift
On Thorns I Lay
Oranssi Pazuzu
Ulcerate
Ensiferum
Havukruunu
Butcher
....

yep, it would make my top 10

I feel like most BDM bands try too hard to be brutal and forget to write great songs.

Their lowest rated album? Weak. This is their second best. Still brutal as ever with some of their most insane performances and creative, compelling compositions. Any haters leave the hall.
