You can tear my heart out now but the catchiest song for me is Korn's Word Up. Why? Simply! It's a cover of 70s dicso hit by Cameo, and we all know that disco songs were reall cacthy. And besides, Jonathan Davis sings almost identical to Cameo with the parts that really stick in my head, that is sometimes so fast you can't even understand what he's saying and on the other hand some parts are so vocally emphasized I remembered the lyrics first time I hear it. Also the chorus.... It's addictive!

So no, we're not talking just about heavy/power metal here. I just think you can't find the most catchy song in the history, we all have different tastes in music therefore different melodies stick in our heads. And well, Word Up! is the one that works for me, I can listen to it once a month and I'll be singing it for weeks!

I would say 'Nightfall' by Blind Guardian or 'The Road Goes Ever On' by Wuthering Heights

Kiss - I was made for loving , quite catchy

3-Amon Amarth: "The Pursuit Of Viking" for the catchiest riff.
2-Rhapsody: " Emerald Sword" for the catchiest chorus (and the cheesiest too).
1-Iron Maiden:"The Trooper" I think this song deserve to be THE catchiest song ever.

I'll choose two obsessing songs by this moment, in my case: Shining - The Claws of Perdition and Alcest - Le Secret. Simply the music drives you mad and it grows deep inside yourself...

I can even tell You which album is the most catchiest: "Bergtatt"... from Ulver...

Wintersun- Death And The Healing, not complex of lyric but still deep-lying and combined with really melodious music

most of the power metal is catchy but i think the catchiest songs are

Rainbow - I Surrender
Dream Theater - i Walk Beside You
Angra - Carry On
Stratovarius - Anthem Of The World

Kalmah - Evil in you, though some of the structure is fairly simple, the notes and structure they use are just so catchy.

Lets see:
Dream Theater-The Mirror,when I first purchased "Awake" it really caught my eye,one of their most heavy riffs.
Metallica-Jump In The Fire,Love the opening.
Malevolent Creation-Mindlock,recommend this to all death metal fans,perfect riff.

'Full Moon' By Sonata Arctica, I absolutely despise this band, but for some reason this song I cant stop humming or whistling. I almost wanna smash my own forehead with a brick to get it out. Its almost like a drug in a way, its an absolutely annoying song yet I cant stop listening to it.

Yeah you are right also Sonata Artica - 8th Commandment great musicians though.

3. The Trooper - Iron Maiden - another catchy master piece

LOL! Both of you have to be meaning the "Oh, oh, oh, oooh..." part. I always thought the catchiest Iron Maiden song ever was Futureal. It is a short song with short lyrics that has a chorus made of just 3 chords which repeats itself to death (What is real? Futureal!...), lots of power chords, a childish structure, a riff compressed within a -BLEEP- minor third and overall a friggin' simplicity that makes it perhaps the easiest Maiden song to remember! I will never get it out of my head!

My choices are:

1. Sonata Arctica - Full Moon: Have to agree with Dr. Rock here (although I love their music). Only the chorus on Black Sheep, by the same band, could beat the catchiness (and cheesiness, yeah, but as a die-hard Power Metal fan I must love cheese) of "Run away, run away, run away..."

2. Metallica - Fuel: How come nobody has yet mentioned it in the whole thread? "Give me fuel, give me fire, give me that which I desire!" Doesn't that ring a bell? The riff made out with just D#, F# and G#? Anyone?

3. Mägo De Oz - Molinos de Viento: If you don't list this one as one of the catchiest songs ever, you probably don't even know Mägo de Oz. A great song nonetheless, especially its live versions.

Other catchy songs that I can recall now could be:

Rammstein - Ich Will (especially if you understand German)
Blind Guardian - Welcome to Dying or Journey Through the Dark (two of their best songs by the way)
Finntroll - Trollhammaren (definitely!)

I've had Teräsbetoni's 'Taivas Lyö Tulta' in my head for days now; even though I don't like the band or understand half of what they sing, that song's chorus is so catchy!

Everything Sunn O))) does is catchy as fuck!

I think all Power Metal is quite catchy.. Stuff like Wizard's 'The Powergod' is really catchy!
