Why do they still fucking play -_- I mean they could do something productive to the metal scene idk like hanging themselves or sum...
If they hanged themselves, they would be hailed as legends and geniuses who died before their prime, simply because they're dead.
Gosh, you're right Void thanks for putting me straight back on the right track... so I hope they live long hated lives of boring music.

Well its not that great an album.. but it is however a good album. I have no complaints. I miss the old stuff. But I love Trivium just the same. Not too disappointing.

Bland and uninspiring. I admit, I expected something more after Shogun, but this album hasn't got a single interesting and memorable part in it.
Guess Trivium was a one-time wonder, then :

i fucking agree with you who judge this as garbage dont understand a fuck about metal because they have great solos on their albums and pretty trashy songs.
Yeah, a clean and aseptic technique is actually the only thing we can credit to this band.
As for the rest, you just said it: trash.
when i said trash i ment trash metal influencies like the crusade .so do not misunderstand me, i love this album and the previous ones.and you hate this band just because the stupid realo or fake i mean they wanna do metal in all the way possible. they can't do it? i dont give a fuck. i like all the kinds of metal and i dont judge real or fake
What is "trash metal"? Do you mean THRASH metal?

For those of you who are interested in the band's latest effort, Roadrunner Records has posted an acoustic version of "Built To Fall" online. The streaming is available at this location. Enjoy... or not!

I have previous albums and I think Shogun was awesome, but they seem to be a hit or miss band. I've held off on buying this, but I listened to some of the songs and I think the production and performances are good. However, the songs are kind of stale in some places. They stated that they wanted to simplify after the technicality of Shogun. So I guess I can't really bitch about them hitting that mark, but I might wait awhile before I purchase it. I'd like to see them work with someone who uses less polish and make a raw fucking album, 'cause they sound great live.

I read in an interview (i think in Guitar World) that they thought "Shogun" was too musically advanced for their fans, so they tried simplifying their sound. That was probably the dumbest move they could have made, considering Shogun was actually a cool album and this is pure garbage (in my opinion).

Nice to see the Trivium hatred hasn't died...(I'm being sarcastic, of course)
Anyway, I don't listen to this album much (in fact, yesterday was the first time I'd listened to it for at least four months), but, having listened to it again, I have to admit that it's better than I thought it was the first time I heard it. I find Trivium to be a poor man's Machine Head overall, but they aren't bad: they just aren't my kind of thing. Still, "Built To Fall" is easily one of my favorite metalcore songs (which, admittedly, isn't as much of a compliment as I want it to sound like).

I probably will be "what" but not a "nut" indeed. If you're a new fan of Trivium, then its okay to give it a 10. but if you're following this band from a long time, then its okay too give it a 10..cause people will still bash on this amateur album. Save it yourself.

I wasnt a fan of The Crusade.... Im still a Trivium fan.. This album is Trivium ... I like it! You will too! Great energy throughout! It doesnt sound like a fuckin Metallica wannabee band anymore.. Trivium returns to the roots! Its no Florida death metal, but this album is melodic n very enjoyable. It still has alot of clean vocals what can be done without... Still, this album rox!

Well, in general too I would have given not more than 7. It's really unfortunate that Matt is too over-confident on his competencies.

Personally, I think this is a great album, it's just lacking the same power that Shogun had.

"Shogun" was too musically advanced for their fans, so they tried simplifying their sound.
What a bunch of retarded fans have they got...
That's like the only album by them where I don't feel the urge to slap myself in the face for putting it on. I'll go further than that and say Shogun was actually good.

Are there any rules about behaviour on this site because your first sentence above is offensive and should be either apologised for or removed from the site. And it's not offensive to Trivium fans either. Do the right thing mate.

Fine, I apologize for saying Trivium fans are retarded. I'll try to explain my thoughts differently:
I think it's silly that an album like Shogun is too musically advanced for fans of Trivium as I feel it's clearly a step up from everything else they ever put out. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I never mean to offend, I just passionately express my thoughts, which some people might interpret as an insult.

I remember how hyped I was for this album after how much I enjoyed Shogun before it. It was a change of direction for sure (fewer proggy elements, moving back to drop-tuned 6-string guitars rather than 7-strings, etc). It made for a more 'poppy' and less epic experience, but still a great one nonetheless (although, my ratings of Trivium albums will always be biased). This album is great fun to play on guitar also!
9.3/10 for me - 'A Skyline's Severance', 'Drowning In Slow Motion' and 'Shattering The Skies Above' are the standout tracks. 'A Grey So Dark' and 'Of All These Yesterdays' are the weakest songs on this album. (I consider the 'Special Edition' to be the definitive experience.)
I also covered 'Watch The World Burn' back in 2012
