We don't need Guns at all.

When men invented the gun powder , it was firstly used in war to kill other persons. This is the life of a gun to kill. Hemlock said that he use guns to hunt but as EddieGunner said , indains use to hunt with no guns. The point is that we are so lazy that we want everthing in our hands. Just with a click on a firearm.
I do agree that guns should be banned in every part of the society. Receantly when a mad and insame person wants to kill someone else, like in scholls they use firearms to kill as many people in a few second. With the banned of firearms this could not be possible and many human life could be with us today.

this is easy, no guns --> no wars XD, but it's impossible remove all the weapons so... The problem is that there are still loads of stupid people joining the military forces etc... no army --> no wars ^^ We can't remove the weapons of the armies, but at least there should be restricted for civil people

That is true, they were. But once they had firearms, they used them all the time.

I hunt with bow as well as gun. But I can only use them at certian times a year. There is a bow season, there is a rifle season, there is is even a blackpowder season. So it is not my choice the not use a bow all year round, it is the governments.

As much as I love using a bow. The amount of skill involved is something that takes years to master, and makes me feel good knowing I can do it, I still prefer hunting with a rifle. It is so much more effective. Every time I have used a rifle, the animal has fallen right away. Not always with an arrow. I have had to track some deer up to 10 miles after shooting them with an arrow. For me, I like to minimize the amount of pain in hunting. Which is why I don't hunt with a spear or knife. I would love to track a boar and kill it with a hand made spear some time. But it would be so messy.

And on a second note. the American Indians were butchering each other long before firearms ever were creatred. SO to me, it is still not an issue of guns, but of people.

About guns ... well I got 3 handguns CZ , FN and .45 cal colt 1911 , I haven't fire any of these for over 7 years. Good for me. Before that I was a volunteer in national defence core. What changed my mind you ask? Well , little visit to most saddest place in the world , 6th of august 1999 I visited in Hiroshima Memorial Peace Park in Japan. After that couldn't tolerate any guns I resigned from the volunteer core and I have tried to sell my guns

I agree. Many people from the cities travel to other areas to hunt in the seasons. When I lived in New York State, we had many people from New York City, and other city areas come our way to hunt.

Also, remember, the media loves to tell gory stories and make things out to be bigger than they are. I wonder if the problems we hear are really as bad as they sound? Yes, there are problems, I am not dumb, I know people are shooting people, but is it as big as many of us think it really is?

Actually, does it matter if we have guns or not? We will always have some kind of weapon, that's a fact.

I'm not really all that keen on history, but were guns originally invented as a tool of violence or simply as a tool of hunting? Didn't the NRA invent some kind of gun in the United States in order to keep the uprising of the African American slave population at bay or something? Don't get me wrong; I'm not trying to start something here...I just saw that in some stupid cartoon in a Michael Moore documentary that had something loosely to do with guns...

What we call "gun powder" or "black powder" was actually invented in Ancient China for Fireworks. After a while it was figured out that a cannon could be made. Generations down the road the cannon became handheld. I think it was called a gun...

yes, so technically, guns were origionally made for warfare, but like it matters, we will always find ways to kill eachother.

But anyway, yes, cannons were invented and barrels were narrowed, buts and triggers made it hand held, and were then turned into a foot soldiers weapon that was, as it turns out, really good for hunting, it ensured the survival of many pioneers and travelers.

I agree with you.He can even use his bare hands to kill.
But every individuals certainly must not possess guns.Guns should be used against criminal activities, anti-national activities and for self protection only.

We dont. But i do. I like guns and other kinds of weapon, yet I'm far from violent person. It depends on you how would you use weapon, and would you use it at all.

Guns give great opportunities to human race, but we screwed it up and today every second gun is in the wrong hands. Three years ago one guy from my hometown was killed by accident by fuckin cup!?! He get drunk, go to some club, make mess, security trown him out, next week he came to find that guy and kill wrong person? What else to say, fuckin cup, if cups to that, what then criminals need to do to stay bad guys...

Guns are unfrequent in the cities of Greece but are used for hunting in the country. In the recent past a "well respected citizen who went to church every Sunday" killed 5 people in cold blood just because they happened to be hunting on his land. Similar incidentss often happen.

I've been reading through your posts and thinking, "what are the feelings related to the use of guns?". And I concluded:

-fear: fear of the other, fear of death, fear of not being able to survive if someone else also survives
-revenge: the need to regain somebody's honor, the need "not to be a coward against those who have wronged you", rage

So I was thinking... what if we found, as a society, some other way to be courageous? Some other way to overcome our fears, some other meaning of honor. Would guns still be in use?

It is very good thinking but my opinion is that it is impossible, unfortunately there are many people who don't think like that... that is a shame

That is sad. People are taking guns for protection, which means that they are afraid to get hurt, which means that there are people who would hurt you, which (in my opinion) means that world is full of greed, sick and/or hateful people who are only thinking theirselves and or not afraid to hurt other people.

But on a serious note, there is really no need for domestic gun possesion to exist, hunting is useless. Defense? defense against what? another asshole wielding a pistol who bought that pistol for 'defense'? its creating a vicous circle.

I voted yes, but that doesnt mean that guns should be owned by stupid people who are willing to shoot everything in sight...........obviously I think guns should only be given to people who are going to use them for self-defence, and not carry them around wherever they go

Yes, it is good idea, but they would find the way to collect it, I still remember when some freak from my ex-school brought gun into school to show how important is he, we reported him to police and he get propiet punishment, but where 14 year old boy find the gun anyway? That could be some psycho like guy I mentioned also on this post and many others, I am against guns in any way, even if it is so expensive...

Probably stole it from his old man or somthing. I am against all tipes of firearms, but you can't ban everithing. Hunting rifles still have some uses. But they are big, usaly modyfied to have a slow rate of fire (automatic and semi-automatic are usaly forbiden). Pistols, on the other hand are small, easily kept out of sight, and have a high rate of fire, and therefore shuld be outlawed.

Probably. It is sad to see what morons are carrying guns in these days, many frustrated, complexed guys and even girls are armed by pistols or MAC10s, there are not expensive and easy to obtain.

Cor agree completely. The gun is just an instrument. People will use it for different way and for different purposes. Suppose there were no guns, if someone wants to kill another person he would do it with a knife or a sword like the old days. It might reduce the death rate a little bit but still people will be silly and find other more innovative ways of commiting murder.
