yeah man, Grotesque Impalement has some of the most precise songs I've ever heard. However, a lot of those songs are rerecorded versions of older material.

Dude. Nile not on the list in a million years? Nile gave a lot more to the genre than Autopsy. I know that CC should probably have been cut out, but the fact is that some people enjoy them. Atheist, Suffocation and Pestilence should be in the list though. Nile, in my opinion is better than Autopsy, and according to this poll, more people like Nile. The whole Egyptian theme is awesome and lyrice are way better than Autopsy's gore lyrics. No need to get mad. It's just a difference of opinion.

Yeah I know Pestilence is one the better Death Metal Bands and innovators.Like I stated in the Pestilence thread,"Consuming IMpulse" is an absolute brutal classic.the riffs are illustrious,any death metal fan needs tracks like "Out Of The Body","Dehydrated" and "Echoes Of Death".Martin Van Druen is the highlight for me,vocals are delivered excellent,and Patrick Mameli is just as good on "Testimony" and "Spheres".

Ok, I went and listened to both Autopsy and Nile real quick. I admit I really haven't heard all that much of them before, but, I went and listened to about 3 to 4 songs of them each. First I listened to Nile, FREAKING great musicians, awesome voice and overall good. Then I listened to Autopsy and I liked, good musicians and voice, little bit crappy recordings but it's cool (they were better off than Bathory). Between those two my vote is going to have to go to Autopsy, what can I say, I'm a sucker for the older stuff.

Death is still better though.

Dude, even if someone likes Nile more than Autopsy, which is no problem we all listen to different stuff, Nile did never more for death metal than Autopsy. Autopsy was their befor Nile even could spell Death Metal, it's about the influce I was talking about. But cool that you like it.

I am definitley a fan of Entombed,even though I only own "Left Hand Path" it is a classic slab of death metal,I guess you'd say the are somewhat technical.Hell i'd say Entombed are death metal innovators,being most of the album was recorded by 89'.

Yeah, sort of, more technical for its time, but Im not sure if Entombed can be compared to Necrophagist today. Yes, entombed is great, left hand path is a pure classic along with clandestine. Being that Dismember is my favorite band, lol, I am sort of biased that way, I do think that the more old school sound of DM is pretty differrent to modern DM, take dying fetus, nile, cannibal corpse then take the swedish old school prime, and they have their differrences.

Im not going to point out anything specific better because I think that most DM phases are differrent and unique in its own way.

Well real steve-o most of the bands you listed aren't even in the death genre,plus the other catagorie fits any band.I dont care for Cannibal Corpse,but no death metal thread is complete without them,they are among the best selling death bands ever.

If you are intrested in talking about nu-metal go to the alternative forum, I think I saw a thread for slipknot. No, seriousley I like the bands you listed, but they arent DM by far. Morbid Angel, Death, Pestilence, Autopsy, Cannibal Corpse, Nile, Deicide, are perfect examples of REAL DM listen to then and know the differrence.
