I think the words "Besides Burzum and Bathory" should be place in parenthises in the title of this thread.

Yes you´re right, to me Bathory and Burzum are the best one man bands, besides been pioneers their music is great and inspired other musicians in the genre.
I also like Falkenbach and sometimes Xasthur...

My favourite One (Woman) band is Estatic fear, belive it(s awesome,espacially the albums A Sombre dance ,it's perfect, i don't know if she will make any other works.

Estatic Fear is an 1-man band?? i don't think so... And i've never heard of any female member in EF ( not to count the guest singer in A Sombre Dance album)

ban ha salmoust split up and seems now thay had one member but IMO if thay will paly there be new members, but otherwise I like them too

well, maybe you and i have different ways of defining the term '1-man band'. i call a 'band' '1-man band' when there is only a guy doing everything, he writes the music himself, sings the songs and plays ALL instruments. Back to this case of EF, i agree that after their debut there was only 1 member remaining in the band (Matthias) and he wrote all music and lyrics in 'A Sombre Dance' album. However, there were still other musicians playing in the album and as far as i know, Matthias did the guitar and piano parts for ASD while the drums, bass, flute, cello etc were done by different people. The roles of others are indeed very important though they were just guest musicians coming to the project and played the way Matthias wanted them to play. So, that's it, that's why i don't count EF as a '1-man band'

I would have to go with Insidious Decrepancy. They are a Technical Brutal Death band from Texas. Nice music.

I always have been interested in Diabolical Masquerade. He had a great black metal sound. I'm sorry for the death of this awesome sound (not the man).

Bathory.. No doubt.

Since Vintersorg has one person too many I'd say either Bathory or Falkenbach. Love especially the epic atmospheric sound both bands have.

Certainly Burzum. A boring choice I know, but from the few one man bands I listen too he's the best without doubt. The evil atmosphere and insane howls does it all for me!

Bathory, Diabolical Masquerade, recent Edge of Sanity...I can't really pick one. Isengard was awesome as well!!

Either Edge Of Sanity (recent) or Wintersun. Crimson, Crimson II, and Wintersun are amazing albums.

i now really enjoy Nebelhorn...black folk metal with Viking themes from Germany ran and operated by only one man - Wieland

At the moment it has to be Dark Forest from Canada. The guy has immense skill. Tricked me into thinking it was a whole band for a few listens, top notch pagan/black metal.

Maybe Burzum ... it's an interesting and unique musical proposal

Ancient Wisdom...listen it. It quite melodic Black. Solo project of Marcus E. Norman. I have only listened to The Calling. Ihsahn is also worth mentioning.
