...and here it is

With much pontificating on whether to even start this one, (due to the anticipation of a major headache), I present to you the official thread of the 2008 U.S. Presidential election. I am just too damn interested in seeing what everyone (U.S. and non-U.S. citizens alike) thinks. I would like for all of us to approach this in an atypical matter. DO NOT discuss petty issues that are discussed every day by various media outlets. (Abortion, Same-Sex Marriage, Etc.) Such issues have been presented to us with intent to take our minds off of things that are actually important.

Feel free to grace us with your opinions of the Political Candidates, Political Debates, Important Issues such as solutions for Iraq, The role that the U.S. will play in the world, Etc. Try also not to look only 4 years into the future...that is what has gotten the U.S. into so much trouble in the past...

Go 'lite' on posting or quoting tons of links to other sights. Everything should come from yourself...and please keep the personal insults to a minimum...we all (hopefully) have the same goal to make the world a better place. Unfortunately that peace is currently being halted by greedy politicians. Remember to keep the big question in mind: What political figure would be the best for the entire Global community and why? Go at it fools!

@K7: lol, K7. The first sentence I post is true. But the second one is a joke.

I dont know much about content of things related to each candidate, what they promise to do, their attitudes about war/Iraq, so I just base on my tuition.

But if Obama win, why dont we can say its a biggest glorious page in world history as a negroid person become president, that would make all racism demise. But as I mentioned above, their are more factors like his policy, politic attitude..

But K7, I thought all democracy candidates dont want to make war, or like you said, as not attacking other countries. I heard only hawk republican want to do that.

We never can know about USA ewery president do what he want and IMO that pople elected president are bad, I prefree wherer parlamaent elect him not nation

No. Hillary is a bitch that voted for the war and she is a little too strict towards censorship. Also, by "parlamaent" are you talking about the American Electoral College?

But she si to strick than it goo, she had iron fist Buch can go and work in comedy bar , but Hallary I know she si strick ifs she be man she had BIG ball s

I dunno man....in the last 20 years, all we've had is a Bush or a Clinton. I can't take another four years with Bill Clinton in office. He was a complete loser, almost as bad as Bush.

I heard many compliment about Clintons' achivement of governing for his president during time. His achievements are mostly the economic wealth of America...totally agree Bush is more jerk, downfall economic, sinking in Iraq war. But notable that only Bush era is targeting to Alqueda, and before during Clinton, Alqueda wasnt concerned.

Anyway, no offence, K7 can you give me example of non communistic country which president elected as parliament voting?

...the democratic party is a mess...

That right there is so true. Now while I am an Christian anarchist and do not vote, this is one thing I have really observed over the past decade. The biggest difference between the two major parties is that the Republicans are united and the Democrats are always fighting amongst themselves. It seem that while the Republicans, by large, are a party of bad ideas, the Democrats are a party of no ideas. What ever the Republicans say, the Democrats must "no" it.

I agree that Democrat party always oppose or do contrary things of Republic. Its weird that a democracy of most belived charisma is only played by two parties...

your observation is spot on. i wouldn't say the lesser parties are ignored, but they lack the support to gain the popularity that's needed for them to accomplish anything.

Yeah, the Green party is absolutely overlooked. Nader has so much more experience than all the other candidates COMBINED, but he's getting really old lmao. Obama, Clinton, and McCain are all bad choices, but I may end up voting for Obama because Nader has no chance. Fuck, thinking about the election makes me hate Americans. or maybe it's probably because I'm drunk to the max atm.

It's going to be a first no matter who wins, either a very young african american or a VERY old man,of course now that a woman for that position is not possible..
man! I was following these elections from the beginning, the first time I ever saw Obama it was on Oprah and I liked him then but thought he would not be a mojor coandidate, wjho thought that Clinton would lose to Obama, she herself did not seem to believe it delegates were extremely in Obama's favour and the democratic party was pretty much all behind Obama, and kept going and going tearing that party apart(wish i am wrong).
I wish the current situation don't change, they say that polls show that Obama gets 46% of the votes while McCain gets 43%, I am a supporter of Obama because he seems to me the most opened up candidate and the most cultured.
Anyways,a great hail to Obama,a very young and full of energy man, talented speaker..

I'm looking for:

Less Free Trade (Need jobs here in America)
Finish up in Iraq
Grant illegal Immigrants citizenship (Walls and deportation is too Soviet Union for my taste)
Flat Tax
Less drug regulation (Especially mary jane.)
Alternative Power
Environmental Regulations (Pro Environmental that is.)
Private Social Security (People need some say so over the money they make.)
No Death Penalty
Gay Rights and Marriage
Abortion Legal (If they're going to do it, let them do it. No partial birth abortion.)
Welfare Programs that don't just support, but push people to support themselves. (Get them off on the right foot.)
More federal funding for college. (Everyone needs to get a chance to go.)
Objective Religious Studies (Sorry Ron, but no creationism, please. Not as a fundamental study at least.)

Hey, gotta say I agree on all topics there (except flat tax and alternative power, I'm not sure what those mean )
I was wondering, as an US citizen living abroad, do I get to vote for the elections?
