As The title says it, this is a forum to discuss about your favorite one-man bands. and also a place where you might learn about new bands.

What is a one-man band might you ask?
well... its a band who consist of only 1 member. I think bands like that are great since you can clearly hear one's tought expressed through music without any contradictions. surely there are lots of 1 man bands that are very suckish but still I think one man bands are more suitable for Black Metal.

My Favorite band at the moment is Ad Hominem. With its war like riffs and and black atmosphere.
I am also alot into Kristallnacht and Satanic Warmaster aswell.

EDIT: I didn't really know where to put this thread so I decided to put it here even if most one man band are BM I am speaking of one man bands in general.

They have already been said here but I would have to go with...

Bathory
Burzum
Old Man's Child
Falkenbach

But Bathory would be my #1 choice.

Old Man's Child

Huh

What is so hard to understand about the concept of a one-man-band? Last time I checke that means that ONE person writes and PLAYS all the music him/herself on an album.
If Old Man's Child (in your case) and Ayreon are one-man-bands then so is Frank Zappa

Well I suppose you are right...I just looked at the line-ups for their albums and didnt know that there were actual members on some albums. I just thought that it was session drummers. My mistake

But Bathory was not one man band all time look even in MS line up and time line
Former musicians:
1983-1984 Fredrick "Freddan" Hanoi - bass edit
1983-1984 Jonas "Vans McBurger" Åkerlund - drums edit
1983-2004 Ace Börje "Quorthon" Forsberg - vocals, guitars edit
1989-1991 Vvornth - drums edit
1989-1991 Kothaar - bass edit
1993 The Animal - vocals edit

after 1992 yes it as one man band but not early days
So IMO it do not counts

So when it was just him it doesn't count? Doesn't make sense to me...

In my opinion Burzum is the best one man band because he infused the ambient and black metal generas to make some great music.
No doubt about his talent on Filosofem

This is really close for me but I have to go with Falkenbach. Ok Nefna Tysvar Ty is such a unique album, especially the vocal style.

Ayreon, Old's man Child are great bands, but IMO they are not One-mand bands because they have guest Musicians. One-man band must have only ONE musician that composse and play all the instruments.

My Vote goes to Falkenbach. But Burzum and Bathory are great too

I wonder how would he play live as a one man band. He must has the drums on his back guitar in his hand and then sings. I wonder how he plays the bass guitar live.

Graveland, Woodtemple, Satanic Warmaster, Falkenbach and Burzum are all great bands. Also Xasthur and Old Man's Child are really good (if they count as one man bands ).

Probably Ayreon, Iced Earth and Megadeth are some of my favorite "one-man bands".
Arjen makes such beautiful music, Jon is and outstanding songwriter and guitarist, Dave is also a great songwriter and guitarist.
Sometimes and with some musicians the One-Man band idea works very, very well while with most it simply just isn't up to scratch. I guess you could say one-man albums can be very hit and miss because you are basing the music on one persons interpritation. Sometime they get it right and it is amazing, but most not completely right.

Velvet Acid Christ. Granted it's not metal but it's got a ton going on, it's amazing work and he pulls off stuff in the music that is pretty unexpected. It does work. It's really really well thought out dark industrial.
