A great death band in my opinion. Great growls, and wow, that woman sounds so amazing!

I have no opinion, but I do know that Michael has said that the new dude is a better fit for that band. So I guess you can interpret that for yourself.

When did Michael say that, do u have the interview? I finished downloading that concert and it's the Australian Gigantour 2006. Not only does Michael make mistakes plenty in "I am legend/out for blood" but the new guy ain't much better either. It must be said that someone in the crowd shot it with an amateur camera but Fredrik's notes in the "Dead Burry Their Dead" solo are kind of weak. Maybe it was just a bad night for them.

I don't remember the exact source, but it was from a recent video interview.

I always manage to miss them everytime they get close to where I live. I went to Ozzfest just to see them, but got held up, and ran through the gate as they were exiting!

Great band, the song "Enemy Within" was the first bit if metal I had ever heard other than Nu or 80's metal. Definitely got me into Death, then all the other forms of metal

I think Wages of sin turned alot people towards extreme metal...that also along with In flames got me into much heavier stuff. Its just a great overall album, that most metalheads can enjoy.

Yes! I got Wages of Sin right as it was released and it was also the first Arch Enemy album I heard. I really think that WoS was one of the gateway albums for me to extreme metal.

Dead bury the Dead, I would say Ravenous ( but I think that song is overrated and overplayed ), first deadly sin and savage messiah are probabley my favorite off Wos.

Well from WoS is Enemy Within the best song without doubt, such a beautiful intro. Hope they'll play that one tomorrow

The concert was ... magnificent! I stood in the front and I caught Fredrik Akessons plektrum! Angela herself is an experience to see live, her voice is so much more powerful and stronger on stage than on the albums ... I was shocked! She really is the perfect frontman, or frontwoman?
The setlist was good, although I missed a lot of older Liiva songs, they only played 2 (!) songs from that period.

The setlist (not in order):
Bury Me an Angel
The Immortal
Enemy Within
Burning Angel
Ravenous
Silent Wars
We Will Rise
Dead Eyes See No Future
Instinct
Enter the Machine
Nemesis
My Apocalypse
I am Legend/Out for Blood
Skeleton Dance
Hybrids of Steel
+ a lot of guitar and drum solos

Every song sound so much better live, they are an amazing live band! So much raw energy and the atmosphere is almost so thick that you can cut it with a knife.

I'm actually a pretty big Arch Enemy fan. Most people know them for Angela Gossows vocals, and I won't lie, that's what drew me to them at first as well, then I found out that Michel Ammot is the founding member and Ex-Lead guitarist/founding member of Carcass. Then I come to Love his Brother Christopher as well, those dudes are so great, I still have no Idea why Cristopher left.
Another thing people fail to remember about them is that they had another vocalist before angela, a man, who was almost as good, maby even on par with her. But Angela does make the band all the better. So that's why I love Arch enemy!

In my case I first heard them with Angela but without knowing who the vocalist was. I couldn't believe that those growls came from such a beauty at first.

As I think I previously said in this thread or perhaps one that was the ancestor from this one, John Liiva's vocals are more varied. He has this distinctive voice, growls, and even makes that growl that Angela comes up with. For reference, check his version of "The Immortal" song. You will find it all there.

You lucky bastard, I already saw them live once, it was an amazing moshpit, at one point Angela Gossow came to the front of the stage and said "I WANNA SEE SOMEONE DIE!".......half the people in the mosh took her seriously, I got obliterated.

That reminds me, Ive avoided Doomsday machine for awhile because I thought it would just a be a bad effort as my other favorites at the time failed, but I recently picked Doomsday machine and I like alot actually, rather than the songs which are made on video, the rest of the songs are much better IMO.
