check out Down, Eyehategod, Alabama Thunderpussy.

I don't think that Eyehategod is stoner at all.. I would say sludge.
I'm not an expert when it coms to stoner but Electric Wizard is one of my favorite bands at the moment. Reallt awesome feeling after hearing their songs, specially the ones from Dopethrone.

Well.. I had the same problem at the beginning but the thing it's more clear now. Stoner [take Down or Electric Wizard] is really heavy music with crushing riffs, with a feeling that reminds us of how do a person feel when he is stoned... Things go slooooooow and shit.

Sludge is more agressive [Eyehategod or Acid Bath] and they sound kinda "pissed off". It's also more hardcorish so to speak.

But I'm not the best person to ask tbh. But I hope that I could make it a little more simple.

Stoner metal is basiclly a more grove oriented version of doom metal with more emphasis on rocks roots in blues...to be appreciated fully one must be...you guest it STONED! the greatest stoner metal band of all time is Sleep...the end!

Have you checked out Orange Goblin yet? I've heard them being compared to Alabama Thunderpussy.

(if you haven't listened to them already) They sound kind of like early Motorhead, White Zombie, and a dash of Lynyrd Skynyrd (if Lynyrd Skynyrd was a sack of bricks), all mixed into one (the southern rock sounding stoner metal is the stuff I really like). I've recently found myself really getting into them and plan on ordering 4/6 of their albums next paycheck....Strangely enough the distro I'm going to be ordering from was missing the exact 2 I wanted the most

I haven't checked out Orange Goblin yet but whenever I get my computer back I'll check them out for sure

Stoner metal also related with post rock or someting make you feeling chili and out of life.

Going to see Astrosoniq, Gomer Pyle, The Sleeper in two hours time, just around the corner. Finally Astrosoniq live for me. And Gomer Pyle already blew me away at last year's Roadburn Festival so that should be good as well.

What stoner bands have you heard? Do you like Master of Reality and Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath? What about Kyuss, Electric Wizard, or Acid King?

Anyways, I'm gonna double post, but fuck it. Has anyone heard Saturnalia Temple? I burned their debut demo, Ur, and it's great if you're in the mood for heavy, repetitive stoner metal. The closest band I'd compare it to is Electric Wizard, but not as good. I haven't heard anything besides their debut, so if anyone has more knowledge please let me know.

Saturnalia Temple are good on album (Ur and the self-titled 7") and kick total and utter ass live (just read what I, Lucas, Dismaleuphony wrote about their Dutch Doom Days set.)
Btw all they have out atm is Ur and the 7"
