This album (talking about the remastered version) should have been called 'Unfulfilled great expectations' or maybe it should have never been released. This is definitely one of Ozzy's weakest efforts, in terms of consistency, but there's still some great stuff on it. The awesome title track has always seemed to overshadow the rest of the album. Although "Rock & Roll Rebel" and "You're No Different" especially, are also amazing, and very overlooked songs in Ozzy's catalogue. Half of the album contains decent - great songs, and the other half is forgettable for me. :\

This album never really clicked with me, it was off to a banger with the opening title track, which is one of Ozzy's best songs, but after that there was nothing special, just a few fairly decent tracks, and lot's of average one's. I certainly wouldn't rate it as high as the previous two albums. The one thing that you could always count on though, was the fantastic guitar solo's by Jack Lee, although I have always preferred the late Randy Rhodes, Jack Lee still took to the role very well, and with some outstanding solo shredding, he showed how great of a guitarist he was for the short time he spent with Ozzy.

This was my introduction to Ozzy in the late 80's and the title track in particular but I've got to agree with the majority of the comments above. Bark at the Moon DOES overshadow the rest of it. There are some other worthy tracks, but the second side is particularly weak. Interestingly my vinyl version has a completely different running order from what's shown above as it starts with Rock & Roll Rebel. I've got the nice price reissue. A very good quality album, with very good guitar solos, Jack Lee has managed to replace Randy Rhodes well, I don't see any really bad songs, although some songs have some weak moments. I think one of the reasons why I like it so much is because the atmosphere of this album reminds me of one of those werewolf horror movies from the 80s like The Howling, Silve Bullet and An American Werewolf in London. The highlights of the album for me are the title track, You're No Different, Rock 'N' Roll Rebel and Waiting For Darkness.

Jake E. Lee does a great job here, especially on the glorious title track! "Waiting For Darkness" is such a fine song with very cool melodies. All other tracks scales from decent to good, exception - awful "So Tired". 7.5/10

KInd of a mixed bag.. great title track and there's lots of great ideas that sometimes doesn't go all the way.. Songs like Center of the Universe, Waiting for Darkness and Spiders are pretty good. There's some weird keyboard moments and Ozzy sounds weak on many places. Jake E Lee was a great replacement for Randy and is easily the highlight throughout.
