Dimmu Borgir IS the most commercialized BM band. Not to mention while they were going global, their material got weak and had to add various elements to cover up their weak stuff. Just listen to Puritania, then listen to the Original Stormblast, and see the differrence, the change in sound has its own reason.

I have another thing to say, if a band starts to sell more cds because of their popularity thats pretty fucking good cause that means they are a badass band, i mean I see tons of Cradle posers all the fucking time who think Nymphetamine is there first cd then I see the people who were Dimmu shit just to look tough so no one will mess with them but really all in allif a band starts selling more cds that means they are good.........not true for a band like Slipknot cause a bunch of emo fuckers randomly started to like Vol. 3, like some of the self-titled and won;t even touch Iowa

I doubt anyone would look tough because of a dimmu shirt. And music can't be graded regarding it's sales, that's stupid.

okay just think about it Black Metal and Death Metal are the biggest controversal music gernes out there, and the grading of music is all about sales thats what keeps the band alive and going thats how the book shows thats how they make more shirts i mean they will have sponsers but the only way you can keep a band around is if you buy their music and their merch, you really need to think more about how the music industry goes

the period at which cradle started to suck ass was right after midian.....right when i heard bitter suites i was like OMG its down hill from here...:P...even that included i chose cradle over dimmu....cuz im not really into the sound of a machine making the effects of the vocals appear different then they are...:/...the only thing i liked about dimmu was the fact that they used "Clean" vocals in some of their songs...vortex rocked in Puritania...but then was none exsistent in Death cult...i was dissapointed...:(

What is the point ? They are both sellouts and both are bad...both suck...and both are uninteresting...Why ask what band is worst from two weak bands...or why ask what band is better from two weak bands ?

Well, with the internet and all the torrent sites, p2p and online metal shops they are all global in my book...why should either band keep making the same music? There are 100's of bands making copycat recordings of every album from every phase of each of their careers...I love change and progression!

I personally pick Dimmu Borgir because they got me into BM and I like what they have done with their sound and development over the years, it seems they manage to stay two steps ahead of everyone else in the post BM world, while still keeping some of their early BM attributes...

I like Cradle too, but I prefer the more aggressive sounds of Dimmu...

aggressive dimmu sounds? can u name one? the video clip progenies of the apocalypse or something like that its so funny, its like "we're bad ass, and u are bad ass if u buy our album" so its really commercial.
about cradle i just can say thornography makes me sick (specialy the track with HIM, makes me remember about the rappers cause of the "X feat Y feat Z feat P feat B feat V" think, and i ask, why so many people?), their clothes are really funny too .
Oh well 2 bands that were great, but cause of the fame they turn worst than britney spears (ok, ok, not that) but you know what i'm saying.
ONLY avaluating their good releases like stormblast and dusk and her embrace, i vote for for cradle.

I think the songwriting of DCA and puritania is pretty weak, it just lacked consistency in my book. While I did like Dimmus early stuff, like Spiritual black dimensions and darkness enthrone triumphant the latter stuff sounded really off, and I think the orchestral passages are much more consistent then the actual "black metal".

Cradle Of Filth of cause, I think their music quality is extreme and all Cradle Of Filth's albums are awesome, especially Black Metal masterpiece Dusk..And Her Embrace, symphoni Midian, trashy Pinciple Of Evil Made Flesh, and everything of this in Cruelty And The Beast. I don't give a fuck because they are commercial, they are making good music and they should get a lot of money for their work, everyone are spiting on them, but would you like to live by your music one day? Everyone would. They have give many to metal scene in gnerally, many of bands you are listning were affected by Cradle Of Filth, Dani is respected musician in many circles, but only simple metalheads don't...
Dimmu Borgir, as I already said I don't give a fuck cause they are selling lot of CD or they are making shampoo commercials as long as music is good, but it is not anymore, at least for me, so my vote went to Cradle Of Filth...

One would say Cradle of Filth because they are getting alot of Mainstream recognition, BUT, Dimmu's stuff has gotten weak, and Dimmu actually is more sellout...

But honestly, apart from Cradle's old material, the work being Black Metal can be debated...

However, I came up with suggestions on Cradle's subgenre [barring their old material which definitely was Black Metal]....

'Gothic Black Metal'

as much as Dimmu has gone mainstream and "Untr00" they have still kept alot more traces of black metal in there music than CoF

Exactly, being commercial is a terrible reason for not liking music, are they to be blamed if a large number of people enjoy there music?

They aren't....it's like a paradox or a rule....you know that everyone feels deep in heart that "When I listen to my favourite band, I feel that I'm special because I'm their fan...."....if the band starts having fans who actually shouldn't be the fans of the original band....then the old listener will feel that he's robbed of his place....as a fan....

Well....imagine....you will start to feel weird when you notice grannys with their 9-year-old grandchildren at a metal concert.....you will start to feel weird when a metal band you used to listen to, will be touring with girl bands like Spice Girls or Britney or Christina Aguilera.....or if it'll start to play trance influenced stuff....too much popularity may reduce the popularity....

I chose Dimmu....I've always liked their sound....not that COF would be bad...they aren't.....I just haven't listened to them that much....and I do like the sound of Dimmu more....it's deeper....

I prefer Cradle Of Filth, I don't care if a Band becomes a sell-out, their music is good for me

To the question "Which sellout BM band you prefer" and between those two bands I chose and vote to Dimmu Borgir for two reasons:

-I think they have more BM elements on their music in comparison to Cradle Of Filth.
-I prefer vocals and sound in Dimmu Borgir.
