Italian's metal scene is great, unfortunally Elvenking and emo black metal band Forgotten tomb is a shitstain on it.
and why's everyone calling Rhapsody here? yeah they are okay, but come on Italy has way better bands. mine list of great bands from Italy:
Doomsword: I like the way they mix viking metal and epic doom it fits perfectly.
Theatres des Vampires: screw cradle of filth, Theatres is the real owner of vampirc metal here! I really love the Vampirc atmosphere in their music, unfortunally they still mix there vampirc lyrcs with some satanic lyrics wich ruines the atmosphere for a bit.
Graveworm: great melodic black.
Nazgul: if you forgot their clown corpse paint and the bad screams Nazgul is a great Folk black metal band.
Opera IX: black with touches of folk and symphonic awesome stuff.
Cadaveria: a damn good project of this ex-Opera IX member
Lacuna coil: good symphonic metal
Death SS: havent listend to their old black thrash era, but their Industrial era is good stuff.
Ensoph: nice experimental stuff
and many more.
my favorite Italian band is got to be Theatres des Vampires, since I was looking for this kind of band for a long time.

who is rhapdoy? hahaha by the way my favorite is Rhapsody they have the most epic fast metal out there with symphonic elements. very enjoyable for any metalhead

thank! I just gave them a listen and sounds pretty good:) still I need to get used to those weird female vocals tough

Yes I have, but still need to give it a listen, doing it right now.
EDIT: just listen to them nice stuff, but to bad about those metalcore influence's wich ruin some parts of the music.

I mentioned Dark Lunacy in the previous page. In fact, they were my favorite italian metal band, but now i have to change my opinion. Stormlord!! It's an excellent symphonic black metal band. I really like almost everything in their music! Specially, the keyboards (great atmospheres) and the vocals too.

@Incinerated : yeah Stormlord rules , can't remember how many times they have been mentioned in this thread (at least once by me ). And 'At The Gates Of Utopia' or 'THe Surpreme Art Of War' would be my recommendations for those who haven't heard of this great band

I really dunno whether there is something worth of attention in Italian metal scene except Void Of Silence and some other minor bands...

Maybe the most important band it's Rhapsody (of Fire), but for me the best I've ever heard from Italy it's Labyrinth, the album "Return to Heaven Denied" ... there you have also good bands like Secret Sphere, White Skull or Stormlord.

Dude, i can't listen to all possible bands. I make my decisions based on that what i have heard. And Void Of Silence is the only one that comes to my mind.
Oh, i forgot about Aborym. It's latest album is great (can't say the same about earlier stuff).
What i don't like about Italian scene is that they have got too many gothic, power and other kinds of such metal and that's too bad for me because mostly i listen to black metal.

W-Lash BM try Abor but thay had good BM band sbut its hard to find tham outside, moust has soem 2-3 demo or albums and than band splitt up

Hard question but my vote goes to Sound Storm, great epic/power metal!

you're one of the few that know secret sphere!!! i love them!!! i've got all their album and the japanese bonus tracks in my pc!!! I'm waiting to see them here in metalstorm!!!

you're one of the few that know secret sphere!!! i love them!!! i've got all their album and the japanese bonus tracks in my pc!!! I'm waiting to see them here in metalstorm!!!

italy has some great bands, mostly post-rock/post-core/post-metal or however you call it ...
you should check this compilation:
neurosounds: stones from the sky

Rhapsody... But Elvenking is great too.

Have to mention Skylark also, and as some of you already have mentioned: Secret Sphere and White Skull, pretty good.
Think Secret Sphere were one of the support bands to King Diamond a few years ago when I saw him in Stockholm.
Labyrinth did a few good songs, so did Heimdall.
Other pretty good bands: Elven king, Doomsword, The dogma, thy majestie.
My fav band is Sound Storm though.

I have a very limited knowledge of Italian bands but graveworm's use of the violin on the album " Scourge of Malice" and the vocalist overall. Also the clean vocals on Collateral Damage.

Yes, I have to say that we have some interesting bands, unfortunately the scene has very little support...

Forgotten Tomb.

I enjoy pretty much all of the releases.

So easy...

Bulldozer (thrash-black) and Sadist (tech-death)
by far.
Two classics.

Ephel Duath is a sweet attempted of avant-metal.
Doomsword are OK+.
Elvenking I dislike.
All the rest are sound really crappy to me.

A shame there is not abig scene like Italian prog-rock at the 70's.
