Spent a few hours now on Darkest Dungeon. etc
Hahaha and I just opened this thread to post something about Darkest Dungeon... seems like it's quite unbalanced from what you say. As I am not interested at all in trying "early access" games, I'll patiently wait until they balance it up. I really have high hopes for it too.
In other news, Ultima Underworld 2's official sequel is getting a kickstarter as I write this... *cries*

New Dark Souls 3 fewtage Still looks like they're trying to Bloodborne it up and getting bizarre animations as a result.

FF7 remake footage. I think how good this is now hinges on how good FF15's combat is, coz that's what it's getting apparently.

Shadow Complex Remastered. I haven't finished it but I've done most of it. Pretty fun metroidvania I'd been wanting to play for a while. Nicely presented, well made and a pretty cheesy story. The design isn't quite Metroid standard though; the item placements are pretty inconsistent. For example the amour pickups, 10 of them: you find one fairly early on, then nothing for about 5 or 6 hours (I reckon the game is 7 / 8 hours long) then you end up finding 5 in the space of about 45 minutes. Another issue I have is how the game artificially blocks off areas you've already partially explored until later in the game. You find an item which lets you explore new places, but you won't necessarily be able to immediately backtrack to use said item on places you found along the way. It's a bit silly really, and as a result you're effectively forced along a slightly linear route. Pretty sure the Metroid and Castlevania games don't limit you in that way. Still an impressive indie game though. Btw, the game is free on PC till the end of the month. Well worth grabbing: https://www.epicgames.com/shadowcomplex/ Gonna play Axiom Verge now, which I've heard is pretty amazing. [edit] Not really liking it tbh.

Bought the new rugby league game from Steam (been waiting 10 years for a new one on PC). Turned it on and found out it only uses controllers, no keyboard. Requested a refund as I can't physically use a game controller. I was really looking forward to this game, too. Looks like it's back to 2004/5's Rugby League 2.

12.12.2015 - 14:06 Written by M C Vice on 12.12.2015 at 06:06 Shame about the game. But I like the Steam refund policy. I tried it myself after 40 minutes of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Maybe it would have improved later on, but it was so linear and, eh, felt like a game. I guess it's a modern console game thing or something, making no attempts to be immersive. Noticed it with GTA and Assassin's Creed. SotN was great because it was seamless, but this one had like 5-minute missions that you could go back and REPLAY (wtf), interrupted by several minutes' cutscenes and narration. So I figured that there are better ways to spend my time, asked for a refund and got it within a day. It's a definite service improvement for digital distribution.

12.12.2015 - 15:04 Written by IronAngel on 12.12.2015 at 14:06 Yeah, I got the refund a couple of hours later. I found the thing saying it requires a controller. It's hidden in the system requirements. Which GTA didn't adapt properly? I haven't got past 4 and it's addons.

16.12.2015 - 01:16 Written by IronAngel on 12.12.2015 at 14:06 I'm glad they implemented some form of refund policy, but the one they have is still pretty shit imo. There are so many games that break after the two hour mark, and in this day and age half the time you don't know whether a patch will come and fix it or not.

Spent last night playing the enhanced edition of Divinity: Original Sin, instead of studying particle physics, I have a feeling this game is gonna reck my exam period...

Also, Tactician Mode brings a plethora of surprises, I actually have to restart many fights several times in order to find the right approach. Braccus Rex fucked me at least a double-digit amount of times. Can't wait for D:OS 2.

Okay, pretty old school concept game I'm binge on my PC these days. Prince Of Persia. May be it could be average concept for ardent game freaks here but it's awesome when you have to find your way out.

I remember playing Prince of Persia on the Master System. Awesome game. Wasn't really a huge fan of the 3D incarnations.

19.12.2015 - 18:42 Written by Slayer666 on 19.12.2015 at 05:27 I am usually playing these games on easy, since I care more about the story/immersion than challenging gameplay, but aye, first time I ran into Braccus, now knowing what to expect, I got my party meteor'd into oblivion right in the opening . What I really dig is that it seems to me companions got fleshed out a lot more. I haven't played the original edition that much, but there they seemed so lacking in personality, compared to companions in similar RPGs (Planescape, Baldur's Gate, KotOR, etc.), whereas now they definitely feel more like actual people.

Of course then WoW changed me but still, I didn't really play many RPGs, I am not sure why... I played Kingdoms of Amalur:Reckoning tho, and it was rather good. ^.^

Some way through Stasis now. Am quite enjoying it. An isometric sci-fi / horror puzzle point and click, with vibes of Alien, Event Horizon etc. It's very pretty, for an isometric game, and genuinely quite creepy at times. I seem to keep waking up at about 4am the past few days so it seemed like an opportune time to dive into it. Some of the puzzles are a bit silly, and really don't make an awful amount of sense but I've experienced worse. My main gripe is the female character's voice acting. It's horrendous. Intrigued to see where the story goes at any rate.

Account deleted Written by [user id=142921] on 09.01.2016 at 17:08 I know what you mean. I think if you're going to go down the pre-rendered route at least make each screen from a different perspective, ala FF7, 8, 9 etc. It's not always easy to tell what you're looking at in isometric games.

I decided to play Dark souls 2 again after coming from Bloodborne. The moveset of weapons feel a little more limited and the game it self feels lot more slower than usual. I've also noticed a little more input lag in the game.

16.01.2016 - 18:36 Written by [user id=142921] on 14.01.2016 at 09:53 I found myself getting into it a little more after a few hours but I still get the itch to play Bloodborne. I'm playing the scholar of the first sin so it feels a little more fresher than usual. I just hope Dark souls 3 has the speed of Bloodborne but I think I'm being spoiled there. I might possibly jump back on the Witcher 3 since I haven't played the DLCs yet even though I own them. Overall this year, I'm only looking forward to FF15, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Doom 4.

Anyone played Survival Island 3? I think it's getting banned here.

Darkest Dungeon. Been playing it all today, I forgot how addictive it was. Now it's out of early access it has a few changes from the very early version I played, most notably diseases, corpses getting in the way etc. While they do all make it more difficult the RNG aspect seems to be infinitely fairer. I almost never miss now, whereas the enemies seem to miss on occasion. Have played around a little with the new characters, and they're fun and all, but I got pretty used to two separate set-ups, so generally been sticking with that. Not actually very far into at the moment, just accruing money, exp. etc. because I don't really play the game how one should. I love everything about it though, pretty much.

30.01.2016 - 18:39 Written by Belegûr on 24.01.2016 at 01:39 All of them on my mental maybe-wishlist. But I also have some 60 games on my actual Steam wishlist and roughly the same number of to-be-played games in my library. Are they good? Risk of Rain especially - say I want to buy an action platformer roguelike. Should that be it, or is maybe Spelunky or Rogue Legacy better use of my time (which is more valuable than money, tbh)?

31.01.2016 - 03:51 Written by IronAngel on 30.01.2016 at 18:39 Out of all those choices I would recommend Rogue Legacy first. God's will be watching is a great game, but it's not for everyone. It is very reliant on trial and error, but I loved it. Mad max is a great open world game. I'm still getting used to risk of rain, I'm finding it quote difficult!

Tried out Vermintide. And I'm kinda disappointed. It first looked great, but the game keeps crashing all the friggin time. So you're kinda forced to put the graph settings in low/medium which sucks, even if you're computer can support high end stuff. Then I did the first 2 missions and it kept crashing near the end. Fuck that shit. The game itself is fun, the gruesome atmosphere is great. I sort of dislike the big fights coz you can't see shit, a third person camera would be of great help in those cases (maybe I'm just not use to first person). Good thing is I got it off a sale, though not sure it's worth the money.
