It started with Play Dirty, the lack of any originality and vigour which made those first three albums so solid, but this seemed to have a full impact on Running Wild. The band at this point sounded really tired, bored with their own musical direction, and that's exactly why songs like "Do You Love Me?" (A Kiss cover but a really poor one nonetheless) and "I Want You Back", proving both lyrically and musically that the band were at a creative low. There are one or two decent tracks here-the title track and "Nowhere to Run" namely-but even they turn out to be average in the grand scheme of things. Certainly Girlschool's worst effort.
